Description of Courses
0905700 Information Technology in Education (3 credit hours) This course introduces students to modern computer applications that are in use in the educational field. It will acquaint students with information technology and its applications in educational settings. Topics include: technology in the learning and teaching processes, computer aided instruction, computer managed instruction, evaluating educational programs, integrating technology across the curriculum, and professional ethics. Students will use relevant software packages, hypermedia, e-mail, and the Internet. 0905716 Development of Computer Applications (3 credit hours) Introduction to the basics of computing. A modern computer programming language is used in teaching computing concepts and developing computer programs that can be used in instruction and school administration. Topics covered include: basic computer statements, icons, computer projects, project goals, and software development using a modern language such as Visual Basic. Also, programming interfaces to databases and the use of the Internet will be covered. The student will be able to implement computerized courses that can make use of databases and the Internet. 0905745 Webpage Design (3 credit hours) This course examines the use of the Internet to improve teaching and learning in educational settings. Topics include: accessing global information resources, collaborative online learning environments, video conferencing, distance learning, information search and retrieval, and webpage design and implementation. The student will use Web applications to develop educational Web content. 0905746 Design of Computerized Curriculum (3 credit hours) This course enables students to define the goals of computerized curricula, and the means and activities for achieving these goals. It familiarizes students with the assessment methods that can measure the extent to which goals have been achieved. The course covers the standards for the analysis, design and evaluation of computerized curricula. It also covers the evaluation of the computerized products that implement them. Specific instructional units are analyzed and designed. 0905747 Graphical Design for Computerized Visual Instructional Media (3 credit hours) This course examines the use of computer graphics, animation and visual literacy in educational settings. Topics include: design process, composition, color use, psychology of color use, visual literacy, using computers for visual design and production, projected and nonprojected media, twodimensional and threedimensional design, animation, simulation, and computer human interaction The students will use software packages such as Photoshop for the development of E-learning materials, both in print and for the Web. 0905755 Multimedia Applications in Instruction (3 credit hours) This course aims to teach students the basics of multimedia and how to use this technology in computerizing curricula and in educational management. The common types of multimedia (text, voice, image, video, animation, graphs, .) will be discussed, and computer packages that support integrated multimedia will be covered. This course will enable students to produce, test and evaluate integrated computerized multimedia instructional material. The instructional material shall be suitable to the educational environment and use state-of-the-art technology. 5

0905799 Graduation Project (6 credit hours) In this course, students develop a complete project using the skills they have gained throughout their program. The project required will have the form of developing an e-content, educational website, or a computer-based educational software. It is to be an individual project carried out under the supervision of a faculty member. 1101705 Instructional Design and its Strategies (3 credit hours) This course introduces students to the theoretical concepts involved in the design, implementation, and evaluation of instructional material. It covers the following topics: the process of designing an instructional material and its parts (cognitive, behavioral, human and social), design models, modern design, and the effective and appropriate design of the classroom teaching process. 1102750 Methods of Assessment and Testing (3 credit hours) This course deals with the basic concepts and techniques in the assessment process in school. It includes: formal evaluation, final evaluation, diagnostic evaluation, building tests, tests based on standards, normal tests, analysis of tests, and the characteristics and methods of alternative evaluation such as student learning and performance evaluation. Students will be able to use technology assessment tools, such as the statistical packages for data analysis (e.g., SPSS). 1102756 Scientific Research Methods (3 credit hours) This course aims to develop scientific research skills in terms of research concept, nature, methodology, problem, tools, design, work plan, and procedures. Components of the research report, guidelines for writing the report, research evaluation criteria, methods of data collection, and research ethics are covered. The course aims to train students in conducting action research, its concept and nature, and its uses and limitations. Concepts related to action research such as role of teachers, classroom, school and school district are covered. The aim is to implement e-learning using action research. Use of statistics in educational research is also covered.
