CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION
It is probably a reference to a system which (if it is installed) "reads" signals from authorized emergency vehicles (law enforcement, EMS or FD) and automatically changes the intersection traffic lights to favor the direction in which the emergency vehicle is travelling. We know that No one really controls the traffic lights. A computer system controls the traffic lights, and no humans are involved with controlling the traffic lights day in and day out. It is all automated. Coils of wire are buried under the road's surface to detect the metal in the car. Next time you are riding in a car look and you can usually see the lines in the asphalt where cuts were made to bury. Vehicular devices can be switched on or off as needed, but in the case of emergency vehicles they are frequently integrated with the vehicle's emergency warning lights. When activated, the traffic preemption device will cause properly-equipped traffic lights in the path of the vehicle to cycle immediately, to grant right-of-way in the desired direction, after allowing for normal programmed time delays for signal changes and pedestrian crosswalks to clear. Traffic preemption devices are implemented in a variety of ways. They can be installed on road vehicles, integrated with train transportation network management systems, or operated by remote control from a fixed location, such as a fire station, or by a dispatcher at an emergency call center. Traffic lights must be equipped to receive an activation signal to be controlled by any system intended for use in that area. A traffic signal not equipped to receive a traffic preemption signal will not recognize activation, and will continue to operate in its normal cycle. Traffic signal preemption systems sometimes include a method for communicating to the operator of the vehicle that requested the preemption (as well as other drivers) that a traffic signal is under control of a preemption device, by means of a notifier. This device is almost always an additional light located near the traffic signals. It may be a single light bulb visible to all, which flashes or stays on, or there may be a light aimed towards each direction from which traffic approaches the intersection. In the case of multiple notifier lights at a controllable intersection, they will either flash or stay on depending on the local configuration, to communicate to all drivers from which direction a preempting signal is being received. This informs regular drivers which direction may need to be cleared, and informs activating vehicle drivers if they have control of the light (especially important when more than one activating vehicle approaches the same intersection). A typical installation would provide a flashing notifier to indicate that an activating vehicle is approaching from ahead or behind, while a solid notifier would indicate the emergency vehicle is approaching laterally. There are variations of notification methods in use, which may include one or more colored lights in varying configurations.

CHAPTER 2
LITEARATURE SURVEY AND SOURCE OF SUPPLY
Main idea of our project is come from our own mind when we saw an ambulance was stuck in traffic. This made us think that there must be a system which allows the passage of important vehicles like ambulance, fire bridged truck, police jeep etc. It can save a lot of lives if these vehicles can get a way without stop. This seems us very creative and this can be a good project for us. Then we search for it on the internet. We get some information form Google and our group head-Mr. Aakash (proff. ECE deptt.) also helps us a lot for our project. From this we think we can help the people in a great way because if the emergency services can run without facing any red light signal then these can reach the people to serve in less time. It will be helpful in this way that if there is red light, then it will be changed to the green light when ambulance is at a reasonable distance (about 100m). So, it will pass without facing any obstacle.

CHAPTER 3
OBJECTIVE
Designed for Intersection of 4 Roads. Timer ON/OFF selection for Night/Day time operation. Variable pass timer for vehicles from 30-60 sec. Low power consumption by utilizing LED for signal lamps. Accurate timing, compact and low cost. The concept of wireless transmission of data can be used not only in medical field but also in industrial field for transmission of information regarding a particular m/c. In very immense and critical situations where in humans cant be physically present. Defense field, for sending the parameters of the soldier to the base station.

CHAPTER 5
WORKING OF PROJECT
When the ambulance at emergency comes to any traffic post the traffic signals automatically stop the signals and give green signal for this ambulance. The ambulance carries an RF transmitter and every traffic post will have an RF receiver. So whenever the ambulance comes near the traffic, the ambulance will transmit a code say emergency the receiver will receive will receive this signal and check in the database of the micro controller. Then it immediately switch OFF the other signals that is it make all the signals red and later make this particular direction signal green. So by doing this the ambulance can go without any problem.
