MEMORY CLINIC PROFESSIONALS WILL PRESENT A WOMENS HEALTH DAY WORKSHOP

Cynthia A. Murphy, PsyD, MBA and Diana Michalczuk, PsyD. of The Memory Clinic in Bennington, VT will present a workshop which will explore the difference between Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) and Alzheimers Disease (AD) at the 18th Annual Womens Health Day By Women For Women on Saturday, April 21st at Salem Washington Academy. Together they will provide an overview of both the current and future diagnostic processes, as well as provide data on the safety and efficacy of the currently available medications. They will also examine the vaccines that are being tested to help slow or even halt both AD and MCI. If this were possible, a person would be able to remain fully independent with only some minor memory concerns. As with any serious medical condition, early detection and treatment typically leads to improved outcome. Dr. Murphy has been Executive Director of The Memory Clinic since 2000. Prior to joining The Memory Clinic she spent 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry working initially in international marketing for Alzheimers Disease, and then as the new product director of anti-dementia compounds. She received her MBA from Columbia University in 1995. Dr. Murphy earned her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology with a specialty in aging and dementia. Dr. Michalczuk is now a Post-Doctoral fellow at The Memory Clinic. She joined the staff 3 years ago for her Pre-Doctoral internship. She is an adjunct professor at Southern Vermont College, where she teaches Neuropsychology of Dementia. Dr. Michalczuk received her Doctorate and Masters degrees in Psychology from Midwestern University, with a focus in clinical psychology. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Loyola University Chicago. In addition to the keynote speaker, attendees will choose three of six health-related workshops. Registration brochures have been sent out to those who have attended previous events or have expressed interest. All are welcome to attend. Pre-registration for Womens Health Day is required and must be received by early April. For more information about the full day`s events, or for a registration form, please contact Health Day Committee Chairman Lois Sheaff in Cambridge.

www.addigest.com SALEM AREA VAN ENDEAVOR KEEPS ROLLING. The big red SAVE ( Salem Area Van Endeavor ) 10-passenger van has been part of the Salem scene for nearly two years and continues to provide valuable assistance to area residents. Under the management of the Courthouse Community Center, the van was generously donated to Salem by the Greenwich Interfaith Foundation in the spring of 2010. Thanks to the commitment of area churches, civic organizations and businesses, the necessary funds are raised to maintain the vehicle and keep the gas tank full. Each August, a golf tournament has been organized by the Salem Glens Falls National Bank manager, Rose Ann Savage, to provide support. The van gladly picks the riders up at home and transports them to the Greenwich Hannaford on Tuesday, the Cambridge IGA on Wednesday and the Granville Price Chopper on Thursday. There is no charge for this service which is open to anyone in need of transportation. SAVE has been fortunate to have the dedicated service of Ken White who not only assists as the dispatcher but drives the van as well. Anyone in need of a trip to the grocery store may contact Ken at 854-7497. New passengers are welcome.

Buying Local Means 73% of Spending Stays in Your Community
Buying local isnt just about shopping at local craft fairs a few times a year. It is about keeping as much of your hard earned money recirculating in your community where it will benefit you and your interests. Local products and services exist in every category of business in nearly all regions of the country. Nearest provider ends up translating to least expensive provider in the long run if we look at all the costs. Buying local is sort of like your blood or oxygen supply, communities have to take in money and recirculate it through the lifeblood of the local economy or the local economy dies, it is just like if we dont get enough oxygen for the blood to circulate, we die. Short term savings are very enticing. Money in your pocket jingles nicely. But less jingle can translate to the wonderful sound of flipping through crisp bills later on. We as a nation seem to have forgotten this. The notion of investment has become tainted and intertwined with speculation as the later has come to overpower what was once understood to be the cornerstone of a sound personal and national economy. Saving and putting your resources, however meager, behind processes and products you believe in is an entirely different beast than gambling.

RITCHIES PIZZA NOW CELEBRATING ITS FIRST YEAR ANNIVERSARY AT THE SHAG-A-VAL LOCATION
The sign that greets you as you enter the remodeled and modernized building at 61 Main Street in Schaghticoke, New York serves as a guide for your dining experience in Schaghticoke. Rich Geddis, owner of the two restaurants housed here, Schag-A-Val and Richies Pizza, is delighted with his new location. In 1999 Rich purchased Morenos Pizza which was located at Hannaford Plaza on the corner of Route 67 and 40 in Schagticoke. He moved Richies into the Schag-A-val remodeled building last year, which he had previously purchased in 2003. The two businesses compliment each other. For breakfast and lunch you can eat-in at the Schag-A-val, which has an excellent breakfast and lunch menu. For lunch or dinner, you can take-out pizza from Richies Pizza, which has an excellent reputation for producing splendid pizzas. Rich says, Schaghticoke has been home to me for all my life. I enjoy being able to serve, friends and family while doing something I really love. With the help of my sister, Kim Rifenburg, we attempt to provide the freshest food at reasonable prices. During the day our customers enjoy the comfort of Schag-A-Val. At night, we sell pizzas to go, but customers are welcome to sit on the Schag-A-Val side if they prefer not to tske their pizzas home. We are a diner, pizza house and deli! If you havent been in lately, be sure to stop soon. We think you will have an enjoyable experience. (Delivery is available)
