DEPRESSANTS (downers) - Drugs that act on the nervous system promoting relaxation and sleep. Examples: Narcotics, Morphine, Codeine, Heroin, Barbiturates, Tranquilizers, Alcohol, Solvent/Inhalants. 2. STIMULANTS (uppers) - Drugs used to increase mental activity, relieve fatigue, increase alertness, and other offset drowsiness. Examples: Cocaine, Amphetamines, Methamphetamines (poor mans cocaine) 3. HALLUCINOGENS

Drugs that can produce changes in mood and behavior, delusions and hallucinations. Examples: Marijuana.
