Discipline is an important issue in children's education.

In the classroom some students can easily focus on the task at hand and understand rules and etiquette. On the other hand, some students are easily distracted, and tend to resist the administration. Disciplining such students requires both the recognition of a problem and a proper intervention to treat the root cause. Some administrators can be very strict in their methods, and this can actually create future consequences.

School discipline is the system of rules, punishments and behavioral strategies appropriate to the regulation of children and the maintenance of order in schools. Its aim is to control the students actions and behavior. An obedient student is in compliance with the school rules and codes of conduct. These rules may, for example, define the expected standards of clothing, timekeeping, social behaviour and work ethic. The term discipline is also applied to the punishment that is the consequence of breaking the rules. The aim of discipline is to set limits restricting certain behaviors seen as harmful.

Bullying, playing truant, gengsterisme, vandalisme and the list will go on and on. i don't think these words were common among the students in 70's or 80's. But, nowadays these are the main issues being discussed in nation and global wide. What is going on with the primary kids nowadays? At one face of newspaper, news about primary students who been excel academically spread out, but deep within the same newspaper, we can go through lots of news about the students who been caught for playing truancy, vandalizing public ammenities and for bravely bitting up the teachers.

The headline 'Students set fire in classroom' really gave me a shock of my life. Are the students not been guided properly through our education system? I don' think our education system lack in any aspects as the religious and morale studies been integrated into our education system long long ago. In these case, the blame will fall on the teachers role. Are the teachers playing their role as an educator or just as a teacher who teaches for the sake of being paid by the government. A teacher should be an educator- who can guide, lead, assist and 'torch' the students into a proper life path. It is an undeniable truth that there are some teachers who fail to be a 'TEACHER'. A respectable teacher should really care about the students' need and try to fulfill it through their teaching. As this can add attachment between the students and the school which at the same time could avoid the students being 'dragged' into disciplinary problems. On the other hand, should parents be blamed? Parents who are the person who spending most of their time with the kids should be more responsible and alert of their kids' activities. The fact that many families are 'dual' income families and most parents dont have the time to really 'take care of their children can be a dominant factor that assist the increase of disciplinary problems. Besides, the parents should always keep an eye (they will need more than an eye) on their kids' friends. Primary kids like to be with their peers most of the times. They will be the loyal follower to their peers' activities. At this point, no matter how good a kid been raised up, the peer will take the full charge of the kids' life. Finally, I would like to let the others to decide on 'who should be blamed of these disciplinary problems???? Keep on doing the thinking.

i did saw many teachers show their concern to the students. but what the students repay are, they did not show respect to the teachers, make noise at the class even the teachers did ask them to keep quiet. therefore, i think the family background is the main problem that caused the students misbehave nowadays. don't you think so? majority of the parents left their children at home for the purpose of earning money to raise up the family. however, they did not taught their children how to behave and show a proper manner. eventhough their children made a mistake, they did not correct them instantly which could lead them to misbehave in school or outside the world. do you agree with my standpoint? 1. In my opinion, parents should be blamed for students' misbehavior and disciplinary problems in school. Parents nowadays are too materialistic and tend to neglect their children in search of money and wealth. Children who are neglected and longing for parent's love started to involve in indisciplinary problems such as gangsterism, bullying and truancy in order to attract their parents' attention. They start to mingle up with bad group of students. I strongly feel that, parents should take some initiative to get to know their children's friends so that they could ensure their children from mixing with wrong buddies. What's the point parents keep

on searching for wealth when their own kids are being spoilt?

I strongly believe that teachers play a bigger and vital role in students' misbehaviour and disciplinary problems. Students spending most of their time in both school and home. So, apart parents its teachers' responsibility to guide the kids into right path. They should instil good moral values during lessons. Firstly, why children playing truant? If the class is interesting and if they like the teacher for sure students won't cut the class and wondering outside school during class hour. So, is't the students'fault? Besides, teachers should identify problematic students. They should discuss their problems and give counselling rather than giving punishment and neglecting them. Moreover, the teachers must find out the students family background and talk to the children's parents regarding the kids' problems in school.

1. I think the main cause of the disiplinary problems among students is their family background. Basically, a student's family plays an important role in moulding their lifestyle. When a family fails to educate their children in sense of their behaviour, they become naughty to get their own parents' or others' attention.

These types of students can be seen in a family where their parents were divorced or very busy until no time to spend with their own children. When a child has less communication with their parents and acquired some negative friendships, they start to do something brutal in order to fulfill their leisure, such as bullying their schoolmates, vandalisme, gangterisme, smoking and so on. Therefore, the parents should be more concern on their children by getting know their daily activities and their friends' details. Parents should spend more time with their children and be able to talk to them as friends. I strongly believe that parents have all the power or ability to change a problematic child's behavior. This is because, parents are the designers of children, who are like a plain white cloth in childhood. 2. In many schools, teachers are intimidated by their students. Out of fear of retaliation, they fail to report problems or ignore them hoping that the students responsible will quit the bad behavior by themselves. 3. Basically, school discipline has become lax over the years as our relationships have weakened. Consolidated school systems and mega schools have made the separation between family and school wider than ever. These mega schools have largely ignored the local community. Also, some parents have lost touch with their children for many different reasons. 4. For school discipline to be successful, we need to restore those relationships. Parents and schools need to work together to instill the importance of education into children of all ages. Finding discipline procedures that work is a job for students, parents, and teachers to explore together. In

today's society, working together within the school and community will help teach children that working as a team can effectively solve the problem Talk to them. Expalin your concerns. Perhaps you can come to an agreement or consensus. And remember that some of the issues they have with the child will be far different from the issues you have. Discipline is a rudimentary ingredient that plays a crucial role in school system, which insists on upholding the moral values of students. It comprises a wide spectrum of meaning, well from the negative or positive perspective. However, it is humans immune to always focus on the negative smell and that would be considered a popular issue if it involves an individual or a group that claims an 1. intimate relationship within a society. Look at these examples of bad behaviour in school. How would you classify them?

Very serious / serious / quite bad / not bad behaviour o Chewing gum or eating sweets in class o Playing truant (not coming to school/not telling parents) o Smoking in the school building (in the toilets?) o Swearing (using bad language) o Swearing at a teacher or insulting a teacher o Not doing homework o Cheating in exams (copying from secret notes or another pupil) o Shouting and making noise during lessons o Running in the corridors o Writing on walls, desks and other school property o Stealing from other pupils pockets or bags o Calling a teacher or another pupil bad names (bullying) o Carrying a dangerous weapon (gun, knife, penknife)

What did your parents say or do? Contact between counselors and clients may be through a third party who refers the client. The client may also seek out the counselor for help with their troubles. Counselors often subscribe to particular schools of thought as to the most effective and useful way of helping. A critical variable in this is the extent to which the solution to problems are provided by the counselor or by the client. This leads to two very different roles for the counselor: problem-solving or facilitator. A facilitative approach may also be used when a more open exploration approach is used. There are hence a number of theories in counseling, including those held by the client and those held by the counselor. Theories provide simplified models for understanding and ways of acting. They help the counselor how to percieve the client and decide what to do. They may also provide the client ideas for what to think and do differently. Counseling is particularly common at transition points in a person's life, where they are moving from the familiar to the strange, going from child

to adult, single to married and so on. These changes can be difficult and the counselor can help their client successfully make the change, both emotionally and cognitively. There has been ongoing debate about the difference between counseling, coaching and therapy and the boundaries are not at all clear. Therapy can be more clinical but counseling still addresses serious issues, whilst 'coaching' can effectively be a euphemism for lighter forms of counseling. Generally, counseling tends to have a more social focus, whilst therapy and coaching are more individually focused. Historically counseling in personal issues was done by close relatives, friends or the local priest. Although counsel has always been given within families, parents and siblings are not always the best people to do this when they are effectively a part of the problem. Likewise with friends, the penetrating need of counseling means a funbased friendship is not the best place to go. With the rise of the industrial revolution and the mobility of populations, this stable support network was often lost. At this time caring professions started to develop and the asylum as a place of entertainment faded as mental illness and simpler personal issues were taken more seriously. In the 20th century, counseling emerged as a profession, splitting from therapeutic approaches and developing its own ways, although still retaining much in common with therapy. There are still competing approaches within counseling that parallel therapeutic though.

Religion has continued to be an influence in the development of counseling and several counseling agencies grew out of religious organizations which sought to help people in need. This has influence the general thinking withing counseling, which is suffused with JudeoChristian thought. Counseling has also been influence by the arts and has had some focus here, for example in using methods such as dance, painting and drama for therapeutic benefit in providing a channel that enables people to express their emotions. Remind the student of his or her responsibilities at the earliest sign of a disciplinary problem. This is effective because it can help the student maintain focus before the problem worsens or becomes irreversible. An example is when you remind a student to stop socializing when the bell rings. You can say, "The bell just rang. This means we should all focus on our assignment." You can also utilize nonverbal cues such as a classroom bell or closing the door. 2 Give the student an oral or written warning. Generally, do this after reminding him of his responsibilities. If his behavior does not improve, the next step entails a warning. This will help the student to realize that his actions will not be tolerated if his behavior worsens. For example, you can say, "I reminded you to take out your assignment, and you have not done so. This is a warning to bring out your homework like all your fellow classmates."
