Halloween is an annual holiday observed on October 31, which commonly includes activities such as trick-or-treating, attending costume parties, carving jack-o'-lanterns, bonfires, apple bobbing, visiting haunted attractions, playing pranks, telling scary stories, and watching horror films. Halloween was the main festival of the Celts. Thousands of years ago, the Celts lived in what is now known as Great Britain, and celebrated the new year on November 1. On the eve, the night of October 31, all the villagers gathered, lit bonfires and dressed up with the skins of animals as a way to ward off witches and evil spirits. The Celts believed the dead returned on the night of Samhain, and that the dead communicate with the living and asked them food. And if they did not meet their demands, he cursed and made victims of his spells at frightened people. Hence the habit of asking for candy on Halloween ("Trick or Treat"). This story has created many legends. The party came to America through small communities of Irish Catholics in the nineteenth century and the tradition spread throughout the world.
