Tutorial - PS3 v3.

55 Kmeaw's Jailbreak by ArcangelMikhael (that's me;))

ATTENTION Do not upgrade your firmware to v3.56 (I apologize in advance if this tutorial has an error, because I wrote it in a bar, in the intervals between drinks and babes : p (yes it is a smile of mischievous). Oh and Im Portuguese so if my English isnt perfect I apologize for that too lol. This day (January 21, 2011) started by me getting up at 6am to go to work. I left work around 6pm and went to dinner. I then decided I needed to decompress and went out. In the middle of the night ... I remember the promise that I did to my brother to create a detailed tutorial on how to unlock a PS3 ... and what better time to start than at a bar after a week full of work, sleepless nights and alcohol in the blood? So i grabbed my Galaxy 3 and started writing ... So here goes ... ).

Hardware Required:
- Playstation 3 (obviously lol) + controller + power cord from the controller (any USB cable will do). - Computer operating system Windows XP, Vista or 7. - Flash drive with at least 512mgs and formatted in "FAT 32".

Instructions for formatting a flash drive in "FAT 32":

1 - Insert the flash drive into a USB port on your PC. 2 - Now open "My Computer". Locate the flash drive, press the right button of your mouse and select "Format ..." (a window will appear). 3 - Click on "File System" and select "FAT32". 4 - Make sure that the "Quick Format" is active. And click "Start". Then just wait for it to format (it is possible to give an error but ignore it if present). 5 - Let's create two folders on the root of the flash drive, one named "GAMES" and another named "PS3", inside the folder "PS3" create another folder named "UPDATE" (it is important that the names are in Caps Lock).

Software needed:
- Kmeaw's PUP - Rogero Manager v8.1 (PS3 operating system customized) (backup manager)

Software Instructions:
1 - Make sure that the system has the PS3 official version 3.55.

Instructions to verify the version of the PS3:

1.1 - Turn on the PS3 (obviously). Once it starts, go to the left to find the "Settings" section. Now go down until you find "System Settings" and press "X". Go down again until you find "System Information", press the new "X" and check the version (if not in the version 3.55 you have to update) .

Instructions to update the PS3 to the official version 3.55 (if already in version 3.55, go to step "2"):
1 - Copy the file "PS3UPDAT_OFW.PUP" (you can found it in the "PS3/UPDATE /") to the folder inside the flash drive "PS3/UPDATE /" and change the name to "PS3UPDAT.PUP. 2 - Turn off the PS3 (press the button "Playstation" until the screen goes black with only two options. Select "Turn off the system". We now need to enter the "System Recovery Mode. 3 - With the PS3 off, press the button "Power" of the console (and do not let go until it turns off). 4 Press again the "Power" of the PS3, but now you will hear a beep and then two beeps (when you hear the two beepsrelease the button and the PS3 will start the Recovery Mode). 5 - Insert the flash drive in one of the USB ports of PS3. 6 - Connect the controller to the PS3 with the USB cable and press the "Playstation" button to activate it. 7 Now go to the last option "System Update" and press "X". The PS3 will ask you to press the buttons "Start" + "Select" to activate the search for the "update". The conditions of the install will appear, go to the right and select "Accept". There will be a question asking if you want to turn off the PS3 after the update or if you want only to start it (select "Start"). Now the PS3 will update the system (it will start normally without you having to leaving the Recovery Mode manually, if you see more indications of the kind of "found an HDMI connection" or whatever ... just follow the instructions).

Instructions to update the PS3 to version 3.55 of customized Kmeaw:

1 - Repeat the previous step "1" with the difference of using "PS3UPDAT_Kmeaw.PUP" instead of "OFW" and change the name to "PS3UPDAT.PUP" to the folder on the flash drive "PS3/UPDATE /" (it can only be one PS3UPDAT.PUP" in this folder, in this case has to be the "PS3UPDAT_Kmeaw.PUP" with the name changed to" PS3UPDAT.PUP). 2 - Copy the file "Rogero_Manager_v8.1_Kmeaw_Waninkoko__3.55__3.41.pkg" (you can download it from the website) to the root of the flash. 3 - Repeat the previous steps of the "2" to "7. 4 - After the update you will notice that it has appeared two new folders in the "Game" section. One says "*Install Packages Files" (which will serve to install the programs to copy the games) and another that says "*/app_home/PS3_GAME" (which will only serve to start the games). Go to

"*Install Packages Files" and press "X". Install the "Rogero_Manager_ v8.1.pkg. Now you will find an icon in a shape of a controller named "Rogero Manager" (this will be your backup manager that will allow you to copy games into the PS3 and out of it). 5 - Remove your flash drive from your PS3. 6 - Turn off the PS3 by pressing the "PlayStation" and select "System Shutdown".

Instructions to copy (make backups) games for the PS3 hard drive:
1 - Turn on your PS3. 2 - Enter into the "Rogero Manager". 3 - Now it will appear several questions about the folder that you want to save your games into the PS3. Go selecting "No" until "dev_hdd0/GAMES (here select" Yes "). 4 - It will appear another question of the same kind before, saying if you want your flash drive to read games in a "Z" (select "No"). Now appear with "S" (select "Yes"). 5 - The next question is regarding the security mode in terms of file manipulation (select "No"). 6 - Then appears another question "Would you turn off the FTP server?" (you have to think if eventually you want to make file transfers via your PCselect "No" If you will not). 7 - (next question) "Do you want to appear a background image when you select a game?" (Here is a matter of taste ... I personally like. So if you like select "Yes"). 8 - (next question) "Do you want an animation to appear when selecting a game?" (Here is also a matter of taste ... I personally do not like the animation. So if you dislike select "No"). 9 - (next question) "Do you want an animation to appear in the background when you select a game?" (Here is also a matter of taste ... I personally do not like the animation. So if you dislike select "No"). 10 - (next question) "Want the sound off?" (Here is also a matter of taste ... I personally like listening to music. So if you like select "No"). 11 - Insert the disc game that you want on your PS3. Now the "Rogero Manager" will read the disc ... and display the name of the game (along with a background image) (the disc has always come first in the list). 12 - Press the "Circle" to copy the game. The "Rogero Manager will ask if you want to copy to the PS3 hard drive (select "yes") (you may get a warning that says there are many small files and therefore will not display progress bar (select "Yes")).

13 - After finishing the copy press "X" to return to the manager. When you return, you will notice that the game appears twice ... this is normal, since in addition to the copy, the manager recognize the disc too. To know which is which, simply select one of the games and on the bottom of the manager you will find several blue boxes with the names "HDD (hard drive of the PS3 + free space you have left), USB # 1" (flash drive + the free space you have left) and "Disc" (game disc). The box that gets a lighter blue, is where the game is storage.

Instructions to copy the games from the PS3 hard drive or the game disc into a flash drive or external hard drive (which will also need to be in FAT32):
1 - To copy the game disc directly to the flash drive or external hard drive without going first to the PS3 hard drive, just do the step "3" above but with the difference that instead of selecting "yes", select "no. You will see a similar option, but now the question of whether to copy the USB # 1 (select "yes") (you may get a warning that says there are many small files and therefore will not display progress bar (select "Yes")) (you might still have another reminder that there are files larger than 4GB and the manager will divide these files in several pieces (select "yes ")...games that have those files , will appear with a "_" before the name). 1 - To copy from the PS3 hard drive to a flash drive or external hard drive, do the last step "3". This time it will ask if you want to copy directly to the USB # 1" (because its the only place where you can copy off the drive hard drive, it will directly asks you if you want to copy in USB # 1). Select "yes".

Instructions to copy the games from a flash drive or external hard drive to the hard drive of the PS3:
1 - Before inserting a flash drive or external hard drive in the USB ports on the PS3 make sure on your PC that in the game folder that is on the flash drive or external hard drive is in the "PS3/GAMES" (example: PS3/GAMES/BLES00909). 2 - Insert the flash drive or external hard drive in the USB ports on the PS3. 3 - The manager will automatically recognize the game. Repeat step "3" above.

Instructions for starting a game from the PS3 internal hdd:

1 - Select the game you want and press "X" (the manager will go out automatically). 2 - Go up to "*/app_home/PS3_GAME. Will appear an image of the selected game. Press "X" and play it ;)

Instructions for starting a game from the flash drive or external drive (games with files larger than 4GB will not play):

1 - Select the game you want and press "X" (the manager will go out automatically) (any game with _ is a game that have files larger than 4GB). 2 - Go up to "*/app_home/PS3_GAME. Will appear an image of the selected game. Press "X" and play it ;)

==========Instructions to block $ony's queries for your console info:

When we turn on our consoles (and its only connected to the Internet without being connected to PSN) we received a request for information from $ony

servers (specifically for our FM + Console ID + Login ID + Password). And when we connect to PSN ... basically the servers have access to all information on our console... So to block queries from $ony servers, I made another "tutorial for newbies" : 1 - Start the "CMD" and type "ipconfig / all". Press "Enter". 2 - Look for "Default Gateway" or "DHCP Server" and you will find some numbers in front (something like "192.168.1.254"). This number is the address of your router, copy that number to the notepad or something. 3 - Now open your browser and type in the address box the number of your router (it will open the Settings page of your router). 4 - Usually asks for a "username" and "password". If no one has altered the data, just search the model of your router and you will find the standard "username" and "password". 5 - Now go to the section of the firewall (depending on the router, the location may vary... it can be in the parental control, on the filter, etc.. Read your router's manual to know the exact location) and add the following addresses to be blocked: - auth.np.ac.playstation.net " - "ena.net.playstation.net" - "mercury.dl.playstation.net" - "nsx.np.dl.playstation.net" - "tmdb.np.dl.playstation.net" - "us.np.stun.playstation.net" - "xmb.dl.playstation.net" 6 - (your router now will block queries coming from these addresses ... but what if for some reason your router's firewall is down ?!... let's give a little extra security ...) Open the "Notepad", go to "File" and select "Open ...". 7 - Change the "Text Documents (*. txt)" to "All Files (*.*)" and open the "hosts" file. You can found it in "C:/Windows/System32/drivers/etc/". 8 - At the end of the "#", press "Enter" to create a new line. And write "127.0.0.1", press "Tab" (to create a separation between addresses in columns), and type "playstation.net". 9 - Now go to "File" and select "Save As...". Make sure that "All Files (*.*)" is selected and overwrite the "hosts" file. ======================

Instructions to go online on 3.55:

1 - (after downloading all the necessary files) (on your PC) copy the files "dev_blind.pkg" and "openps3ftp.pkg" (they in the forder "forPS3") into the root of your flash drive. 2 - Now remove your flash drive from your PC and insert it in your PS3. 3 - Go to "*Install Packages Files" and press "X". Go to "dev_blind.pkg" and press "X". After the installation press "O". 4 - Go to "*Install Packages Files" and press "X". Go to "openps3ftp.pkg" and press "X". After the installation press "O".

5 - Now go to "dev_blind" and press "X". Press "O" and it will ask "Mount writable dev_flash to /dev_blind" (select "Yes"). After mounted it should say "Successfully mounted writable dev_flash to /dev_blind. Be careful out there!", press "O". 6 - Go to "OpenPS3FTP" and press "X" (a black screen with some text). 7 - Now (on your PC) run FileZilla. Go to "File" and select "Site Manager". 8 - On "Username" type "root" and "Password" type "openbox". Press "Connect" (it will connect you to the flash mounted). 9 - Now on your bottom right you will see several folders. Go to "/dev_blind/data/cert" (you will see in that folder several "cer" files) and rename the file "CA24.cer" as "CA24.cer.bak" (it will ask you to replace, say "ok"). 10 - (on the folder "forPC" that you downloaded earlier) drag&drop "CA24.cer" into "/dev_blind/data/cert". 11 - (on your PS3) Press "X" to exit "OpenPS3FTP". 12 - Go to the section "Settings". 13 - Keep going down until you find "Network Settings" and press "X". 14 - Search for "Internet connection settings" and enter. 15 - Will appear "Easy" or "Custom" (select Custom). 16 Now you will choose the type connection. If it's "Wired Connection" or "Wireless" (choose according to your situation). 17 - (mine is Wireless so i will show you how to do it in wireless (but the "Wired Connection" isn't very diferent)) "Scan", "Enter Manually" or "Automatic" (select "Enter Manually"). 18 - "SSID" or "your WiFi" (select "your WiFi"). 19 - "WEP" or "WPA Key" (select according to your password). 20 - Enter the password of your Wireless. 21 - "Automatic" or "Manual" or "PPPoE" (select "Automatic"). 22 - "Do Not Use" or "Set" (select "Do Not Use"). 23 - "Automatic" or "Manual" (select "Manual"). 24 - (back to your PC) now we need to see our IP. 25 - Run the "CMD" and type "ipconfig /all". 26 - Search for "IPv4 Address" (thats your IP) (write it down on the notepad or something like that). 27 - (back to your PS3) press "X" and with the arrows (up&down) change the "Primary DNS" and the "Secondary DNS" to your PC's IP (after your done, press "X" to unselect them and go to the right).

28 - "Automatic" or "Manual" (go to the right). 29 - It will ask whether to use a proxy (select "Dont use"). 30 - "UPnP"? (go to the right) (some routers need to connect). 31 - Be sure to make the right choices and press 'X'. 32 - "Test Connection" (press "O" to cancel). 33 - Reboot your PS3. 34 - (on your PC) close "FileZilla". 35 - (on the folder "forPC" that you downloaded earlier) run "fuckPsn.exe" (as a administrator if you are using "Vista" or "7") (your

firewall may ask you to allow this...so just allow it lol).

You can now log in "Playstation Network" ;)

Notes: - You have to use "FuckPSN" every time you start your PS3. - Make sure that your firewall isn't blocking the fuckpsn. - Make sure that ports 80 and 443 aren't beeing use by other programs. - If your FuckPSN crashes just do this little tutorial: 1 - (on your Windows) Go to "Start". And on the "search box", type "services". "Click" the "Services" with the little wheels icon (the window services will open). 2 - Now it will appear several services, if they are not by alphabetically ordem, just "click" the "Name" tab. Search the service "World Wide Web Publishing Service". 3 - "Right click" and select "Properties" (the properties window will open). 4 - Now, on the "Startup type" change "Automatic" to "Manual". "Click" "Apply" and then "Ok". 5 - "Click" on the ""Stop" the service" and reboot your PC. 6 - Run "FuckPSN" ;)

=====( If you try to run a game and it goes to a "Black Screen", try this manager)=====

Instructions for installing Multiman:

1 - Copy files "multiMAN ver 1.16.01 BASE (20110220_180000).pkg" and "BDEMU-355KM.pkg" (you can download them from the website) to the root of the flash drive. 2 - Insert the flash drive in one of the USB ports of PS3. 3 - Go to "*Install Packages Files" and press "X". 4 - Install " multiMAN ver 1.16.01 BASE (20110220_180000).pkg. The Multiman will now exit automatically). 11 - You will now see the game that you chose in the place that were supposed to be the original game that you previously inserted in your PS3 (if the game that you chose on Multiman has extras, you'll see two disks, one with the game and the other with the extras). Press "X" on the game disc and enjoy ;) =============================================== === ==========================

Notes:
- It is necessary to remind people that this is something illegal and as such do it at your own risk. - There are people who are complaining that the backups do not work (they all jumped steps). Do not skip steps. Follow all instructions to the letter. - If you play online, keep it in mind that people can see the software that online gamers have installed on the consoles (so Sony can see if you have unauthorized software on your console). I want to thanks the hacker Kmeaw" for his customized PUP. My thanks also go to "Rogero" for the "Rogero Manager." And since we're in thanks time ... I think i deserve it ... because I had the patience to create a tutorial that is understandable to any "computer layman" :p

(Now Im going home because its 4am and Im tired : /)
