[provide a brief description or a descriptive title or a research question] Purposes: An industry that was tightly protected by regulations has finally opened up. But this has introduced many new challenges. Technology can help overcome these challenges and address the new set of issues associated with modern day banking. In this project, I will explore the various use of IT in banking since their adaptation in their working procedures and how it has simplified the way it performs and the way it has given a new perspective to the customers in a way like never before. In particular, I will focus on banks in India while at the same time taking note of the IT development in banks in various part of the world and what possibilities the changes in their banking holds in Indian banking perspective. Such a study should give insights into the workings of information technology in banks, a technological development that is rapidly gaining in popularity and acceptance. Also, the study will help to gain an insight into the usefulness of this development that is underdeveloped in the banking sector in India. This would include the use of technology in meeting customer's service expectations, cutting operational costs, and managing competition. This would capture the centralized infrastructure and multiple delivery channels like ATM, Net-banking, mobile banking, and Tele-banking, NEFT, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), MIS etc. which drove down cost per transaction. I will also provide a glimpse of what the future holds for banking in India through use of such information technology. I will also provide a picture of the IT adaption done by Punjab national Bank (PNB) as a case study. [Describe the context of the proposed research, making it clear how this context will allow you to accomplish your stated purposes] Scope: I will engage in researching IT uses and development in banks in various part of the world for the month of march. For the next month,I will research on the IT uses in various banks in India capturing all the changes that has taken place since its adaptation. For the month of May Ill develop the case study on IT use in PNB. Along with that I will research on what future IT holds in Indian bank perspective.i will be consulting several IT banking related books along with internet research to give a crisp detail of their workings.
