Abstract
The purpose of this document is to describe the steps needed to implement the the Auto-Release functionality for items and MRP/SCP or ASCP planning. These steps are common to the legacy Oracle MRP and SCP as w ell as the current Advanced Supply Chain Planning.

How To Setup Items and MRP/ASCP Plan For Auto-Release

Define an employee in the HR module and associate to the user-name.


The user-name is used to store the PWB preferences settings w hich includes the WIP job status.

Define planner code in INV module and associate the employee.


INV > Setup > Planners The planner code is used by the Requisition Import process. Note: When the items is VMI enabled (Vendor Managed Inventory), they w ill be ignored by auto release planned orders

Defining Items for Auto-Release


INV > Items > Organization Items Bill Of Material tab Set BOM Item Type to Standard General tab Enter the Pl anner coded that you defined. Set Item Planning M ethod to Not Planned. MPS/MRP Planning tab Set Release Time Fence option to: Cumulative Manufacturing Lead Time Cumulative Total Lead Time Total Lead Time User-Defined - Then Set the Release Time Fence Days value if user-defined option is chosen. Cannot be used w ith auto-release Blank (NULL) Do NOT Auto-Release Do NOT Release (Kanban) Do NOT Release (Auto or Manual) (R12) -

Defining Plans for Auto-Release


Navigate to your plan names form. MPS or MRP, DRP or Advanced Supply Chain Plan names Select Production box (mandatory) -

Profile Options
Set the Profile MRP: Requisition Load Group Option at the Site level. Supplier is default. MRP: Requisition Load Group Option determines how the requisitions are grouped.

MSC: Auto-Release Compression Days Tolerance - <n days> For ASCP only - if you set this to a value e.g. 10, then if the planned order has been Compressed to meet the demand due date, and it is value for Compression Days = 10 days or less, then the order w ill still be released. (Standard MRP / Supply Chain Planning does not allow any compression days)

The process Auto-Release Planned Orders is then launch by the planning process. Which w ill intern launch WIP Mass Load and/or Requisition Import WIP Mass Load w hich creates the WIP Jobs Job Status is determined by the Planner Workbench preferences value for WIP job status. No material availability check is performed. Discrete jobs only - no repetitive schedules. Requisition Im port w hich launches Create Releases Releases Approved Purchase Requisitions. Grouping option from the Site profile option MRP: Requisition Load Group Option determines how the requisitions are grouped. -

Note: You cannot auto-release recommendations to Oracle Order Management.

Lead Time is NOT compressed - or in ASCP, you use the profile to still allow release. Standard BOM Item Type Orders can not be for Kanban items or repetitive schedules. Production box is checked for the Plan Planning Methods Item Attribute must be: MRP/SCP MPS, MPS/MPP Planned for (Std)MPS Plans MRP, MRP/MPP Planned for (Std)MRP Plans MPP, MPS/MPP, MRP/MPP Planned for (OLD Std)DRP Plans ASCP MPS, MPS/MPP Planned for Manufacturing Plans MRP, MRP/MPP Planned for Production Plans MPP, MPS/MPP, MRP/MPP Planned for Master Plans and Distribution Plans
