EFFECTIVE MANAGEMENT DURING A RECESSION - Malta 2012 Lean Programme Revolutionary in Malta: a suite of training events on lean management

principles addressed to face effectively the crucial times ahead - for organisations withi n the Maltese Islands and neighbouring countries. Developed and presented by Dr Carlo Scodanibbio and Ing Joseph Micallef. Target Audience: high-level personnel, from top management to high and middle le vel managers from all industrial and business sectors, as well as the public sec tor. Program's targets: * Stress the vital necessity to deploy - organisation-wide - lean practices in t he private and public sector * Launch the basis for an industry-wide cultural change in the lean direction * Illustrate the main Lean Disciplines that can and should be applied in every c orner of a private or public organisation THE PICTURE - THE NEED The programme we presented last year, Lean Business Excellence - Malta 2011 ( de tails on http://www.scodanibbio.com/malta2011/ ) was a remarkable success, with multiple day workshops attended by more than 28 different entities coming from b oth the manufacturing and services sectors, both private and public enterprises. This was the first Lean programme of this scale ever to be launched on the isla nds to date. The need for Lean principles to be adopted was further reinforced through the fe edback obtained by the organisers from these participating organisations at last year's events. Some participating organisations reinforced or re-vitalised thei r lean practices. A few others went afresh into the lean road, launching "in-hou se" lean initiatives company-wide. In the meantime the global situation has deteriorated even further: economically , financially and politically, to say the least. The times ahead feature a recessive scenario affecting dramatically the performa nce and even the survival of organisations of any size and nature. The need for adopting and implementing Lean practices as the only means to face the tremendous, forthcoming challenges is greater than ever.
