KMBT-CSO IC-408 hardware diagnostic tool is not available. Therefore, it is difficult to specify the problem part if
hardware breaks or unable to boot problem suddenly occurs. It is necessary to perform step by step verification including part replacement and to organize information to specify the problem part. Please take necessary steps and collect necessary information according to the symptom, then take respective corrective actions. If the symptom cannot be solved, please escalate to KMBT-CSO reporting with so far what you tried.
[Check points] 1) Check booting status (To see which module is booted.) 1-1: BIOS check Procedure: Connect IC-408 with VGA monitor and check if error message appears.
IC-408 cannot be directly connected with monitor for the printing use, however, it is possible to monitor the booting status (just before starting up Windows) with monitor. 1-2: Windows booting check Procedure: Check whether the IC-408 can be connected with remote desktop from other Windows PC To connect with remote desktop, it is necessary to set IC-408 to allow remote desktop connection in advance. 1-3: Fiery booting check Procedure: Access to IC-408 with remote desktop connection, and check Windows service operation status. Right click on [My computer] then select [Manage]. Applications] [Service], check Fiery booting status. rebooting solve the symptom. 1-4: Event log check Procedure: Check whether error appears or not on IC-408 Windows event viewer.
*Boot event viewer: 1. Boot the [Computer Management]: Management] 2. On Console Tree, from [System tool], open [Event Viewer]. *If system error or other booting problem related errors are found, get the event log and attach them to the escalation. [Start] => [Control panel] => [Management tools] => [Computer
Access to [Manage Computer] [Service and Also try to reboot the Fiery Service and see if
2) Check installation environment When escalating the problem, attach detailed information as much as possible
2-1: Symptom details (Details of the symptom, occurrence timing, and frequency etc.)
2-2: IC-408 version at the installation 2-3: At the controller installation to the customer site, if the firmware update was conducted and if yes, what are updated and where the update was performed? a) What was updated? Updated from Version A to Version B b) Where the updated was performed? It was updated at somewhere else than customer site (e.g. service office) before delivery or at the customer site at installation. 2-4: Whether firmware is updated/reinstalled after installation 2-5: If the update was performed, whether there is any difference on the symptom occurrence status between before and after update 2-6: Whether the system re-installation was performed during the machine history. => If the list of applied patches before re-installation are available, please provide. 2-7: When the re-installation was performed, whether there is any difference on the symptom occurrence status between before and after re-installation.
3) Verify the cause and take corrective measures Following are the idea of the corrective measures and the troubleshooting referring the LED DIAG lamp
on the top of IC-408
3-1: Re-installation Symptom: A problem occurs after update or re-installation of the firmware
Probable cause: Installation was failed or did not complete. (System software broke)
3-2: Delete utility in IC-408 Symptom: While using the same version continuously, the problem which did not occur in past starts
to occur frequently now. Probable cause: Out of controller resource Procedure: Access to the IC-408 with remote desktop connection and delete unnecessary utilities.
3-3: Stop unused protocol Symptom: While using the same version continuously, the problem which did not occur in past starts
to occur frequently now. Probable cause: Out of controller resource Procedure: From Settings of IC-408, stop unused protocol. (IPP/SMB/FTP etc)
3-4: `Perform optimization of E drive Symptom: While using the same version continuously, the problem which did not occur in past starts
to occur frequently now. Probable cause: Fiery system disc is fragmented. Procedure: Access [Start] and open [My computer]. show E: drive property dialogue. Select E: drive. Access File Property to
From Tool tab, Optimize, start up Disk Defragmenter then execute optimization.
Trouble code : FF Symptom/Probable cause: Corrupted BIOS settings on the motherboard Corrupted system software Missing or faulty DIMM(s) Faulty CPU and/or CPU cooling assembly Faulty HDD or HDD connection Faulty service board and/or motherboard CPU missing or faulty Solution: 1. Make sure the Fiery IC-408 service switches are set to Normal mode (away from ON). 2. Make sure the service board cable is properly connected to the service board and motherboard. 3. Clear the CMOS and power-up settings (see page 94). 4. Reinstall system software. 5. Check the DIMM(s) and reseat them to remove any oxidation on the connectors. Make sure the DIMM(s) are installed in the correct slot(s). NOTE: If a single DIMM is installed, it must be installed in the DIMM2 slot. 6. If you have two DIMMs installed, determine if a DIMM is at fault: Remove the DIMM currently installed in socket DIMM1, and reboot the system. Reboot again with the other DIMM installed in DIMM2. If the problem is solved by one of the DIMMs, replace the other DIMM. If the problem persists for both DIMMs, proceed to the next step. 7. Reseat the power and data cables to the HDD. Make sure the data cable is connected to the proper connector on the motherboard. 8. Try the following in the listed order: Check and reseat the CPU cooling assembly. Then clear the CMOS and power-up settings. Replace the CPU cooling assembly. Replace the CPU. Then clear the CMOS and power-up settings. 9. Try the following in the listed order: Replace the HDD data cable. Replace the HDD. 10. Replace the service board and service board cable. 11. Replace the motherboard.
Trouble code : C1, C3, 49 Symptom/Probable cause: Faulty DIMM(s) Faulty motherboard Solution: 1. Power off/on the Fiery IC-408 and copier. 2. Check the DIMM(s) and reseat them to remove any oxidation on the connectors. Then clear the CMOS and power-up settings. 3. 4. Replace the motherboard.
