Prime Marque
The PHD marque represents what the company is about. From the colour choice to the font choice it conveys a message to the audience about our values and what we deliver as an organisation. This is why we need it to be positioned and used in the correct manner to continue this representation of our company. Firstly the typeface choice, by choosing a serif typeface it adds class and sophistication. Meanwhile the flat narrow serifs give off a modern and contemporary feel to the marque which echoes through our company. The colour choice reinforces that with a maroon and a lighter tone of maroon shows that we are an upmarket design firm. The Marque can be rotated and still say PHd which is represented by the triangles. Where ever possible you should add the Phillipa Hyde design tag line this reinforces the company name and helps relate the logo to our company. Although you should avoid using it when the marque is smaller than 50mm otherwise the type will not be legible. The type application goes into more detail on (p6).

Marque Variations
Marque variations offer you some variety on the choice of marque. When possible the prime marque should be used but if it doesnt fit with the colour theme or isnt legible than you should use the variants. You have free choice on any marque but it should fit the colour scheme of the item being produced and be legible. Dark maroon Dark grey scale
Light maroon
Marque Colours
The Pantone colours means we can create a constancy of colour replication of our marque. The primary marque is made up of just one colour (Pantone 504c) for one traingle then with the a 30% tint for the second traingle. This colour can be used on promotional items but must not be used for large copy. Pantone 504c
Marque on Backgrounds
This shows the order of preference when the marque is placed on the most commonly used backgrounds. You should follow this when applying this to these specific colour background. When applying to a different colour background the full colour marque is preferable but legibility is paramount in which case the variants can be used.

A4 Letterhead
The letterhead follows the same principles as the compliment slip by only including the necessary information.
24 March 2012
Dear Mr Nonimous Please find enclosed example of my design proposal for your new company letterhead. When presenting letterhead designs it is always advisable to include a mock letter in place as this is a fundamental part of the structure of the design. It allows you to demonstrate how elements, such as the logo/symbol address details and any company information (VAT numbers, Registered Office address & number etc.) inter-relate. Use a clear and legible typeface for your letter text. Remember that the letter text will always print in black. Typically I use 9pt for the typesize and 14pt leading. Always show a date, clear indication of the addressee and his/her address details. It is normal in business communication to indicate what the letter is relating to, i.e. Re: Design and layout of a standard A4 Letterhead. Turn off hyphenation and always be careful with line endings - design always matters, even when youre writing a standard letter. Employ visual hierarchy such as bold setting for addressee, date and with reference to details. Start the body of the letter approximately 5mm below the first fold @ 99mm. Also make sure you keep a generous left margin (no less than 25mm). The right margin can be visually judged but again be generous; your letter should not extend to within mms of the right edge. Break your letter text into chunks with line returns at the end of sections as appropriate. This always aids readability . Finally sign off with the correct salutation: Yours sincerely if you know the addressees name (as on this letter) or Yours faithfully if you dont know the addressees name and have started with Dear Sir/Madam. You should always leave two line spaces from the end of the letter to the salutation, then four to the printed name, allowing a generous area for an Arty signature!
A4 Brochure
The brochures continue the triangle theme. There are 2 variations depending on the brightness of the images. The layout is designed for the impact of imagery and you have free reign on the choice of images. Although tho for darker images you use the layout on the left where the lighter marque overlays and for lighter images the darker marque overlays. The empty triangle is for adding Titles and any other copy needed. The brochures are scaled to 50%
A4 Leaflet
The leaflet uses the same design as the brochure with the same variations available. Again the impact of the imagery is important so subsequent designs should embrace the theme.

USB Device
The USB memory stick is a generic USB device with the marque printed on. These will be used thought the office and given to clients to use when transferring files between the client and us.

Headquarters
This is how a sample office would be signed. Using minimal signs creates a clean look and no tag line of Phillipa Hyde design means it intrigues people to find out what the logo stands for and what we do.
