News Release For Release: March 27, 2012 Revised Interurban Trolley Service Routes Begin April 2, 2012

The Interurban Trolley fixed-route transit service operates in Goshen and Elkhart, Indiana. In early 2011 the Concord Township Trustee cancelled its service contract leaving a substantial budget deficit. In order to address the funding reduction both the Elkhart and Goshen Mayors met with a coalition of representatives including an Elkhart County Commissioner, Council person and the affected Township Trustees to find a solution. As a result, the Cleveland, Osolo and Elkhart Township Trustees have stepped forward to provide some funding assistance. The cities of Elkhart and Goshen have increased their contributions to the system which uses local funds to leverage both additional state and federal dollars to benefit the communities. Concord Township has recently signed an agreement to provide funding for the route. Due to the funding reductions, the Interurban Trolley proposed changes affecting the frequency and routing of the service in early February 2012. Effective Monday, April 2, 2012 the revised Interurban Trolley routes will begin as proposed in February. The routes will also have color-coded names to aid Interurban Trolley passengers in identifying the correct route. The Blue Line North Pointe route will now include Riverside Apartments which was previously on the Concord route and maintain service to the Salvation Army. The route time will remain at 60 minutes. The new Green Line West route will maintain service to all apartment complexes, Lincoln Center, and Sears/Kroger from the prior Concord route. The Green Line West route also keeps service to the prior West Loop of the Elkhart East/West route. In addition, the Green Line West route will serve Faith Mission and several residential areas on 6th, Oakland, and Prairie Streets which were not previously served. The route time will be reduced from 80 minutes to 60 minutes. The new Orange Line East route will serve Concord Mall every hour and increase service to Ivy Tech from three trips per day to once an hour. The Orange Line East route maintains service to Waterfall Apartments and Martins on Jackson from the prior

Concord route as well as maintaining Middlebury Road and the Industrial Park from the Elkhart East/West East Loop route. In addition, Roosevelt Apartments on Indiana and residential areas on both Indiana and Prairie, which were not previously on the trolley routes, will now be served. The Orange Line East route will also add a transfer point at Sears/Kroger to the new Green Line West route as well as a transfer point at Concord Mall to proceed to Ivy Tech and the Industrial Park. The route time will be 60 minutes. The Red Line Elkhart/Goshen and the Yellow Line Bittersweet routes remain unchanged other than adding the color-coded names for convenience. The fare on the Interurban Trolley system is $1.00 and remains an economical way to travel in Elkhart.
