ANS: because the location of prime meridian and zero degree longitude is together at Greenwich, and there are some reasons that indicates the fact of warmer atmosphere in winter in London though it is at the same latitude: THERMAL INVERSE LAYER: IT KEEPS THE GROUND WARMER THAN THE AIR BELOW. THE POLLUTION LEVEL: IT INCREASES THE SMOG. SMOG OCCURES DUE TO INVERSE LAYER, AND IS CAPPED WHEN THE WARM AIR MASS MOVES OVER THE WHOLE AREA. THERE ARE SO MANY MANUFACTURING INDUSTRIES WHICH ARE ALSO RESPONSIBLE TO MAKE THE ATMOSPHERE WARMER AND POLLUTED THOUGH IN THE SEASON OF WINTER ALSO. So, it prevents the normal mixing of cooler, denser air. The air instead becomes in London still and overtime the lack of mixing causes pollutants to become trapped under the inversion, and it creates significant amount of smog and warmer air.
