IndianOil is India's flagship national oil company with business interests straddling the entire hydrocarbon value chain from refining, petrochemicals, pipeline transportation and marketing of petroleum products to exploration & production of crude oil & gas, marketing of natural gas and petrochemicals. It is the leading Indian corporate in the Fortune 'Global 500' listing, ranked at the 98th position in the year 2011. Indian Oil accounts for the highest petroleum products market share (48%), national refining capacity (34.8%) and downstream pipeline throughput capacity (71%). Fire safety is of paramount importance in Oil and Gas Industry considering the storage of highly flammable petroleum crude and products. The advent of process technologies that operate at high pressure & temperature has increased the risk manifold. Also, ventures into petrochemicals & gas marketing have resulted in new hazards and risks thereof. Considering this, it is imperative to keep abreast with international standards and best practices in Fire safety. With this in mind, we at Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) plan to organize a conclave on Best practices in Fire Safety from 6th 10th February 2012 for Oil & Gas Industry in India. Keeping in view the rapid changes/upgrading of Fire Safety technology, we desire that the participants get the best inputs from across the world on Fire Safety, which will considerably assist in capability building of participants who are expected from Oil & Gas industry (both public and private). The purpose of conclave is to provide an opportunity for Oil & Gas Industry in India to learn about the best practices vis--vis requirements in international standards. The topics that will be discussed/deliberated upon in the conclave have been finalized and are placed at Annexure I. We shall be inviting papers on the five topics from across the world. The papers will be segregated by us topic wise, which will be sent to the chairperson for picking up best 5 papers to be included in the conclave. Out of the five papers he will also select the outstanding paper which will be awarded. You may additionally select 3 stand by papers also. The chairperson will also make his own paper and present in the conclave. We are on the lookout for expert(s) on the different topics who will be chairing all the presentations of the day. The activities of chairperson are broadly defined below: Evaluating papers submitted for the conclave
