RiverStone Homes Luxury Builders Lumiere Display Home Review

The Lumiere display home by luxury home builder RiverStone Homes is one of those homes that you walk through and it just feels right. Theres just enough of everything and not too much of anything.
Individually designed and built by RiverStone Homes on an awkward wedge-shaped block in Cottesloe, its a contemporary three-bedroom, three-bathroom home that really works. Perhaps the ultimate empty nest for discerning buyers looking for a quality finish and an elegant simplicity, it features rooms that will regularly be used and enjoyed. It also embraces the concept of ground-floor living for buyers who have to build a two-storey home to make the most of their block, but who dont actually want or need the second storey.

The lower floor is all about comfortable living and entertaining, with a restful reading room in lieu of a home theatre and a light-filled kitchen, family and dining space spilling out to the pool deck. Theres also a practical computer nook instead of a dedicated study. A big bonus is the scullery off the kitchen. Fitted with a second sink, extra workspace and loads of extra storage, its the sort of feature that will appeal to buyers who love to entertain.

Keeping the master suite on the ground floor creates a singlestorey layout with the added bonus of a luxury wing for guests upstairs. A fully-fitted dressing room adds to the five-star style of the large and luxurious master suite.

With its vast picture window, the ensuite bathroom runs the risk of feeling a little exposed to the courtyard but theres no doubt that it has all the hotel-inspired luxury that is expected.

Upstairs, the light-filled Lumiere has two good-sized guest bedrooms, a second bathroom and an activity/kitchenette area. A double-storey void makes an instant impression as you step into the home, while the Vergola automated pergola roof system turns the huge outdoor entertaining area into an allweather room beside the pool. In Vogue Homes has delivered another classic home to their portfolio of simple double story display homes with the new Westmont Display Home. In typical fashion this design is very cost efficient with a rectangular style that will be suited to many blocks and can easily be modified to suit a narrower block with the repositioning of the garage to the Study if its not critical.
The front facade of the home is rendered and features some nice stack-bond black brickwork to the front which makes for a great contrast in both texture and colour, providing a simple elevation with multiple points of interest. Clever tones of both light and dark render also add to the charm. Its also nice to see a light coloured colorbond roof which is perfect for energy efficiency with our hot climate. A cedar garage door and timber entry doors adds some natural charm and colours balancing the home nicely. Lyn (the sales consultant) believes this home is going to be very popular with retirees and empty nesters as the whole ground floor accommodates living on the one level. With the upstairs having the three minor bedrooms and an activity and a small balcony, perfect for guests or grown up children who may come to stay. When entering the home through the double entry doors you walk into a nice sized foyer which reveals the beginning of the staircase upstairs. To the left a home office which includes a robe, so could be classed as a fifth bedroom or nursery. The master suite opposite is a decent size and has an open walk through dressing and robe area along with an open Ensuite which includes a double basin. The large shower recess could easily include a second shower rose, which potential buyers may want to consider as an option as they are becoming increasingly popular. There is also a powder room accessible from the ensuite and conveniently positioned away from the main living area for guest to use. Walking into the heart of the home the open Living, Dining and Kitchen are spacious and inviting. The Laundry also leads off the Kitchen and includes a nice sized walk in linen. Both the Kitchen and the Dining look out to the rear of the home where the covered alfresco can be enjoyed when guests come over for a swim. Upstairs as mentioned has three bedrooms along with a bathroom all on the outer edges of the central activity room which is large enough for a decent lounge, perhaps some beanbags and a TV or entertainment centre. A small balcony also comes off the front of the home which in this home, captures some views of the ocean. The one feature that I havent seen before in a display home was the garage entry to the house. There is a small holding

Redink Homes Scarlet Star Single Storey Display Home Review

The front of the home is appealing in with the neutral colour scheme complemented by the silver windows and modern garage door. A clever planter box is featured to the front bedroom and the display home even has a gatehouse entry (Im not too sure if this is included in the display price, but its a great security feature). Any Feng Shui fan will love the entry as the passage winds around from the master bedroom through to the minor bedrooms and opens to the living spaces. This design helps direct the flow of Chi through the home without it escaping. If youre not a fan of Feng Shui, its still a practical design feature which will work well for most families. The master bedroom is large enough for a TV opposite the bed without it impeding on space, which is something I love. The walk in robe is large and features custom built in wardrobes and drawers which is great to have additional hanging and storage space. The ensuite mirrors the walk in robe and features a double vanity with a central drawer stack beneath a central window that allows plenty of light into the room. The minor bedroom areas are all large and share a common bathroom and toilet along with the access to the Laundry. If youve read some of my other reviews the one thing I do love is separation of the Laundry from any common wall to a bedroom, and The Lakeview has this feature. Finally there is

If I had to give out an award for Best Display Home in Maddeley then Id have to hand it to Redink Homes for the Scarlet Star.
When I thought of Redink Homes I imagined a first home buyer building company. All the advertising in the paper was focused on how big a home Redink could build you, for very little money. The Scarlet Star display home shatters that illusion. Redink Homes arent just a first home buyer building company. They can build a seriously good home. From the street the front elevation is well proportioned and features a nice colour scheme with different building materials providing a variety of textures. The oversized pivot entry door is a nice feature and the entry area is spacious with plenty of room for a coat or hat rack. The master bedroom is featured immediately to the left which is a fantastic 4.33m x 4.0m in size and has 31 course high ceilings. A double walk in robe with extensive built in features is on opposites sides of the central passageway that leads you to the ensuite. His and hers basins to match the his and hers robes, and guess what, theres even a his end and her end in the double shower recess. A theatre room also positioned towards the front of the home again carries the 31c high ceilings with a feature bulkhead.

The separation with the theatre room is important and can act as a separate living area when your kids start having friends around and the activity area becomes too small. Entering the huge open plan living are with the galley kitchen, dining and family area its easy to fall in love with this space. The hub of the home features a great kitchen area with breakfast bar and ample storage space. Opening onto the alfresco area the timber lined ceiling is an immediate feature but most of all, this Alfresco area is bigger than the other homes in this display village. The left side of the home features three good size double bedrooms, a bathroom with a separate shower and bath and a feature open double vanity unit which can be used if someone is in the shower or the toilet great idea. The hallway includes six sliding doors which have linen and storage cupboards behind them for ample storage space and the kids get a dedicated activity area for their own retreat. Theres some really good things in this floor plan worth mentioning as they are often overlooked. The Laundry doesnt share a wall with any bedroom. That means little to no noise transfer if you have the washing machine or dryer on at night. Theres so much storage with this home which is nice to finally see someone is taking notice of their buyers and giving them what they want. The level of specification and fit out is very high, and makes this home the most expensive in the display village, but if you stand in any spot of this home for any length of time youll start to notice the range of inclusions that make this stand out from the crowd. I loved this Redink display home as it showed me their capacity to build a home of quality and a display home that is worthy of repeating. Summit Homes The Haven Single Storey Display Home Review

The Summit Homes Display Home in Maddeley aptly named The Haven is a well considered home that features a dedicated wing of bedrooms for the kids that is separated from the main living and master bedroom. This home could be defined as your bread and butter 4 x 2 and ticks all the boxes for those looking to purchase a new family home.
Entering in through double entry doors is a must these days to avoid difficulty with furniture when moving in and out of home and the wide entry foyer and corridor of The Haven easily accommodates this while making a nice spacious statement as soon as you set foot inside. The home theatre is open to the entry with a nice cabinet feature piece housing the home theatre screen. . Immediately to the left is the minor bedrooms, bathroom, toilet and laundry area of which all bedrooms include a double robe with sliding doors. The fourth bedroom could easily be turned into a study or activity area which would be useful for most 2 child families. Walking back towards the entry foyer your eye can see through the main living right into the Alfresco. Its a clever design technique that really opens up the home giving it a sense of space. The kitchen features a high breakfast bar which also hides the sink area a popular design concept for most women who dont like to see the sink from the living areas. The ceiling in the kitchen is also lower which defines the area and allows pendant lighting to hang nicely over the kitchen island bench. If you are looking for a good sized pantry, then youve found it double doors opening to a pantry almost as big as your walk in robe is included. A nice desk nook which could be used for a central home PC or telephone area is featured at the end of the kitchen, another popular feature which allows parents to monitor childrens computer use and web browsing habits. The Living and Dining rooms are an average size and open onto the outdoor Alfresco area which is great for entertaining.

The Master Suite is accessed from the main living area after walking through a private hallway, creating space between the zones. I really liked the look of this bedroom and the size is great. The walk in robe area and ensuite are nice with a double shower in the ensuite, meaning busy mornings doesnt have to translate into one of you being late to work. Theres a corner spa also in the ensuite which some people still love indulging in. A dedicated master bedroom courtyard will also appeal to the romantics. Summit Homes also have a variation on this display home called The Haven 201 which is a cut down version making the entry price more accessible for some home buyers. The Haven also delivers a real stand out. If you love timber floors, go and take a look at the flooring in this home. The colour and grain of this timber and the width of the boards is just sensational. however The Rendezvous does stand out from the crowd. Sure, there are many elements of the home that you would expect in every 4 x 2 home and the street facade is stylish with a few added textured features. However, enter into the main open plan living area and youll see why this is one home everyone visiting Maddeley should take a look at. The Kitchen is fantastic with a large amount of bench space and lots of storage under the cupboards with drawers being the primary feature of the kitchen. Anyone who has had drawers before instead of cupboard doors knows just how much more storage room is available, including much easier access to everything. Directly off the Kitchen is a Meals area which is the centrepiece of the living area with the Kitchen, Living, Theatre and Alfresco all branching off it. The Living room is in the heart of the home, almost entirely central and is of sufficient size to seat the whole family along with some friends. But what makes this home special is the sunken theatre room which includes a bar area ready to serve both the Meals and the Theatre. To the rear of the theatre are bi-fold windows which open the full width of the theatre allowing access for anyone enjoying the outdoor areas to the theatre room and the bar. The interior decorating of this theatre is also great with a much darker wall paint colour that also covers the feature bulkhead. The carpet and lounge make this room something special and provide a bit of texture and colour without overdoing it. I can imagine having a bunch of friends over to watch the grand final or world cup while sitting outside enjoying a beer, and if this home was on a bigger block, it would be even better if the bar servery overlooked a swimming pool now that would be fantastic. APG Homes delivers another stylish two storeydisplay home in the way of The Riviera located in Herdsman in the two home display village next door to big brother Webb and Brown-Neaves. This two storey is a lot more compact that the W & B home but still packs a lot of value.
The streetscape is really attractive in neutral tones of cream and brown, but the cookies and cream colour scheme may be tiring as its been commonplace for a number of years in Perth. You have to love the home designers sense of proportion displayed with this elevation though with a darker base colour on the ground floor supporting the lighter coloured first floor. Great horizontal elements are exaggerated with the clever use of colour. Entering through glass double doors a must really if you want to navigate any sizeable pieces of furniture inside, the master bedroom is on the immediate right hand side with views to the street. This suits some home buyers who would prefer to monitor the front of their home from the bedroom (read: nosy neighbours) and includes a large walk in robe and great open Ensuite. There is a brick pier in the bedroom which may have been included for structural reasons, or perhaps just a design quirk and it has been dressed with a built in sideboard which may act as a makeup stand for the woman that prefers to have a dedicated makeup space. The colour scheme in the ensuite is modern with stylish white and silver decor and a wide highlight window with feature vertical centre window running from floor to ceiling between the his and hers vanity basins. An open Media room will be the first thing guests see as they walk from the entry to the main living area which is a common feature in most of APGs homes. The open plan living features a galley kitchen and rooms in the right proportion with a smaller Dining and a much larger Living room. The Laundry is also accessed through the kitchen with what will be loved by most buyers an oversized walk in linen cupboard. The kitchen is really well appointed and the cupboards just integrate nicely with the home. The fridge is concealed behind cupboard doors as is the pantry. The first floor of the home consists of your typical three bedrooms with an activity room along with the required bathroom and toilet. The interior decorating to this zone is very tasteful and shows how simple finishing touches can really make a home. Webb & Brown-Neaves (WB Homes) The Cascades Display Home Review

While not quite a display village the two homes displayed in Herdsman by the ABN Group are still worth the visit. The Cascades two storey Display Home by Webb & BrownNeaves is the big brother to the APG Homes display next door. The Cascades displays the standard design templates commonly used in the W & B range and is easily recognisable as a part of their home building portfolio.
Boasting a triple garage and a timeless facade its also nice to see a water wise front garden which the home owners who purchase this display home when it finally goes on sale will definitely appreciate. A splash of red features in a low feature wall. Entering through the glazed front door the theatre room opens immediately to the right. Its a reasonable size and would comfortably cater for the whole family. A discrete powder room and Laundry are tucked between the theatre and master bedroom ensuite. A fantastic open plan Kitchen, Dining and Family room with a 2 storey void opening above create an amazing sense of space with full height feature windows bringing in an enormous amount of light to the living area. Webb & Brown home including a BBQ area and a raking ceiling, again providing more space. The master bedroom is on the ground floor which is popular as most 2 storey home owners would agree that climbing up and down stairs can be annoying and if youre getting on then it can be quite hard on your joints. Being located at the rear of the home and away from the street helps to remove the street noise. If you like a bit of flair, then youre going to love this bedroom with the silver wall paper and the unique wall paper in the ensuite. Upstairs has three bedrooms which are all double sized with one of the bedrooms having its own dedicated bathroom and another with a semi-ensuite shared by two of the bedrooms. I think this is a great idea for even more privacy and liveability. With the increase of dual occupancy homes becoming popular (where the home has shared ownership by two families | brother and sister | Empty Nesters and retired parents) the functionality of this first floor could be a perfect solution. The sitting room upstairs is huge and has an open balustrade overlooking the Family room below. Some home buyers will love this design feature and the connection it brings so the family doesnt feel too disconnected in such a large home. In typical APG Homes fashion the Emporio 2 storey narrow block display home in Churchlands displays a common sense approach to double storey home design partnered with a fantastic interior design style that transforms a simple home floor plan into something quite special.
I absolutely love the timber that has been used on the street elevation lining the balcony brick balustrade wall that brings in a blend of natural colour and a warmth to the modern design. The front of the home is crisp and clean and is in its simplicity, fantastic. Enter the home and the warm timber panels that line the dividing three quarter wall between the study and living area is stunning and immediately catches your eye. If youd prefer some further separation, youd easily be able to extend the wall to the ceiling which would add some privacy and noise reduction between the study and living/kitchen areas. The home opens into a lovely living area with an elegant and timeless white kitchen including a breakfast bar. From inside the kitchen your view can extend directly outside to a stone clad brick feature wall behind a small pond. Opening the triple stacker sliding doors will lead out to the outdoor alfresco entertaining area which extends the water feature and includes an outdoor fireplace along with a separate BBQ area. The raking ceiling adds a nice touch providing extra height which helps you forget that this is still a small block your living on. Theres also a gym on the ground floor with a dedicated ensuite bathroom which could easily be converted into a guest room. A powder room is included downstairs for convenient guest access. Upstairs are the bedrooms with 3 bedrooms and two more bathrooms. The master suite here is a great size and the open ensuite is stylish and enhances the bedroom really nicely. Two metre high feature nib walls are tiled bringing some degree of separation between three zones, bedroom, ensuite and shower recess without being too bulky or closing the design. The under bench basins are neat and the extensive mirror really makes this ensuite feel spacious. There is another sitting room upstairs which gives the home three separate living area zones and a small, decorative balcony. enough for two people and has a duel shower with a rainwater head mounted on the ceiling for those looking to be completely immersed in their showering experience. Even neater is the lack of a hob, instead the shower has a small 10mm setdown and a nice channel grate to collect the water on the far side of the recess. The ensuite vanity is well appointed with double basin and two separate mirrors divided by an open central cabinet for easy access to the daily items. Walking through the adjoining powder room you pass the study which is large enough for a serious dedicated home office, where you could work and admire the Alfresco courtyard. But heres where the home really makes a statement. Entering into the main living area youll discover a good size Kitchen, Meals and Family room with class on each side making the room feel even larger. On one side you have an open courtyard and alfresco with a great BBQ entertaining area and on the other youll discover a narrow fishpond with a fantastic wall hung display of rusted metal featuring natural stone and a several small garden walls, from which multiple water outlets flow and two smart-fires blaze. Its an innovative approach to narrow block living and definitely worth the visit just to see how well a narrow home design can perform. The garden wall also features in the covered Alfresco with herbs that can be used on a steak or for some of your other favourite meals easily accessed from the Kitchen. The raking Alfresco ceiling maintains a sense of openness which again helps you forget that the block is less than 12m wide. Upstairs features three bedrooms, two with walk in robes and the other with a decent built in robe. The passageway incorporates a clever desk area for the children to study. When its time to put away the books they also have their own dedicated studio activity area including a great little kitchenette. Residential Attitudes The Viento Display Home Review

Finding a home on display in Perth is relatively easy. Take a quick look in the paper on the weekend and youll see a list of display homes available for viewing. However, finding a display home that has something unique in it is a very different task. This weekend I found one such home amongst several others which had plenty to offer. The Residential Attitudes double storey display home in Churchlands called The Viento is one such home.
Making a mark in the Perth residential building industry is not an easy task. Today weve got more builders than ever before and display villages are growing with the regular big volume builders and many up and comers. I think its a great credit to this company that they have been able to present a high level of design and excellence in recent years by forming something of a niche in the market place with their modern home facades and The Viento is a fine example of this style. This narrow block home design has a striking elevation with the balcony ceiling raking upwards held in place with a single steel column. The angled stainless steel and glass balustrade add to the interest while other elements of steel and sandstone complement the colour scheme nicely. This home is inviting and highly attractive from the street front, which is what you should expect from anything in this price range. Entering in through the oversized entry door youll discover the master suite to the left with dedicated his and hers robes with a modest fit out. The shower recess in the Ensuite is large
