Replacement Library Card Fee With our new scanning system now in place, it is very important that our patrons bring their Library Cards for checking out materials. Patrons who lose, misplace, or forget their cards will be limited to 3 checkouts while they search for them. After that, we will not be able to check out any items without your card. If you cannot find your card, we will issue a replacement card with a new barcode for $3.00. Please remember to bring your card with you each time you visit the library. Thank you. Copy Costs Increased Our copy costs have increased to .25 per copy. Copies necessary for school, employment, and government purposes may be free. Please ask at the circulation desks for details. The 10th Annual Poets Tea and Awards Night Wednesday, April 25 at 6:00 PM It is hard to believe we have reached a milestone with our10th Annual Poetry Competition. We hope you will join us in celebration of this special occasion. Winners of the Poetry Contest will be announced and will share their winning poems. Intermission will follow with tea and refreshments served by the Friends of the Goodwin Library. After intermission, our special surprise guest poets will share their work and if there is time, we will have open mike for audience participation. Call 603 755 2944 for more info. Gardeners Roundtable Wednesday, April 9 at 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 2 at 6:00 PM This month we are excited to present Amy Antonucci. Amy is a certified permaculture designer and the coorganizer of the Greater Seacoast Permaculture meet-up group based in Dover NH. She also keeps bees, chickens, and goats on her small Barrington homestead, and has worked in organic agriculture for over ten years. Amy will be talking about Building Great No-Till, No-Dig Garden Beds. This technique, called Sheet Mulching by permaculturists, also called Weedless Gardening, and Lasagna Gardening that creates gardens without the backbreaking work of digging or rototilling. Farmington Film Society at the Goodwin Library Monday, April 9 at 6:00 PM Wednesday, May 30 at 6:00 PM This month we are showing the movie at an earlier date and on a Monday due to the Poets Tea on our regular meeting night. Our film this month is something completely different! We will be showing Young Adult starring Charlie as a woman, who was popular back in high school and after a divorce returns to her small town where she hopes to reclaim her high school flame, Buddy. This movie is by the same team who did Juno, so you know you are in for a quirky treat! In May, we are delighted to be showing A Joyful Noise starring Dolly Parton and Queen Latifah. The small town of Pacashau, Georgia, has fallen on hard times, but the people are counting on the Divinity Church Choir to lift their spirits by winning the National Joyful Noise Competition but the discord between its two leading ladies now threatens to tear them apart. Come enjoy the show and and sing along with the choir! Please note: These movies contain adult content and language. Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Adult Book Club Monday, April 16 at 6:00 PM Monday, May 21 at 6:00 PM This month we will be ending the futuristic end of the world trilogy by Susan Pfeiffer with The World We Live In book 3 in the series. These are gripping, thought provoking books, and if you have read the series already please come join us and take part in the discussion! The next book we will be reading is the non-fiction Confederates in the Attic by Tony Horwitz. Propelled by his boyhood passion for the Civil War, Horwitz embarks on a search for places and people still held in thrall by America's greatest conflict. The result

is an adventure into the soul of the unvanquished South, where the ghosts of the Lost Cause are resurrected through ritual and remembrance. It is insightful and funny. Join us in reading and discussing this title. Friends of the Goodwin Library Meeting Annual Meeting: Wednesday, April 18 at 6:00 PM Regular Monthly Meeting: Wednesday, May 16 at 6:00 PM All Friends members are encouraged to attend our Annual Meeting on April 18. This is your chance to hear about all the great programs that Friends have sponsored over the past year, all the great plans for 2012, and to elect your new Board members. Friends Fundraiser! Join us at Burger King, North Main St. Rochester on Tuesday, April 24 between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM. Mention the Goodwin Library when you order and a percentage will go to support the Friends. The more sales, the bigger the fundraiser so bring your appetites. (And they have a great $1.00 menu now!) If you are interested in being part of the Friends of the Library or you enjoy our programs and services, please consider joining us. Membership fees are small and all money raised is used to support Library programs and services. Kids Cartoon Club Monday, April 30 at 6:00 PM We will be wrapping things up in Cartoon Club this month, ending this years classes with a rousing game of Pictionary, the cartoonists favorite game, and recognition for this years talented students. Childrens Room News Reading with Ava 6 week session Through April 23 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM Reading with Ava will continue Monday afternoons (2:30-4:00pm) through April 23rd. Book and Audio Book Display SEEN the movie....? Come check out our great display of Audio books available in the Children's Room. "It's Spring!" Storytime (all ages welcome) Wednesday April 25 2:00-3:00 PM School Vacation Week, April 23-28: There will be drop-in crafts, coloring pages, games, and puzzles available during the whole week. New DVDs and new Book Titles Looking for something new? Our newest books are always on the shelves near the front desk and on the shelves on either side of the front door. While we are sure to have the best sellers, we also look for intriguing titles with our patrons in mind.

Most of the illustrations can be enlarged or isolated for greater detail. This database is suitable for professional mechanics as well as DIY doers and automotive hobbyists. This is a complete database, if the vehicle you need information on is not available through the database, please call the Goodwin Library 755-294 x2, and ask for Debbie- Chiltons will forward your requested information directly to the Library. Database of the Month

This year, the Goodwin Library has purchased 11 new online databases that are available to our patrons 24/7 Visit our webpage www.goodwinlibrary.org and click on the Catalog tab. Log in with your patron card number (no P) and the last seven digits of the phone number we have on file (no hyphens) to access any of the Goodwin Library and the NH State Library databases. One of our most popular databases is the Chiltons Library online. This database has the automotive repair manuals for all major cars and trucks from 1940 on. Simply click on the Chilton icon, click proceed at the next page and the database will open. Choose the year, make, and model of the vehicle you are looking for and the next window will open to your vehicle. In the left-hand column is the option of searching directly for detailed vehicle information, or clicking on one of the major mechanical groups for more detailed directions.
