Helen Morgan, Superintendent Hawthorne School District Dear Superintendent Morgan, In light of recent news related to teacher misconduct at Miramonte School in Los Angeles, we are reviewing the manner in which local school districts handle com plaints of inappropriate behavior by teachers. This letter is to request access to records in the possession of the Hawthorne School District for purpose of ins pection and copying, pursuant to the California Public Records Act, Government C ode Section 6250 et seq. The records I am see ing are: * Access to and copies of the district policy on teacher conduct * The policy for reporting and investigating claims of misconduct * The status of any and all investigations into teacher misconduct dating bac t o the 2006-07 school year * Copies of any forms sent to the state demanding the revocation of teacher cred entials due to misconduct dating bac to the 2006-07 school year. In the interest of public disclosure, I expect any and all fees to be waived. If my request is denied in whole or part, I as that you justify all deletions by reference to specific exemptions of the act.
