WHAT IS MEANT BY WRITING OWN TICKET?

ONE'S

Jesus told two people that they had great faith. Both were Gentile people. Both believed for healing at a distance. Both wrote their own tickets, as to how they would accept healing. Both proved that you decree a thing and it shall come to pass (Job 22 :28) ; that you may have whatever you say (Mk. 11 :23); that it can be unto you even as you want it. Both sought healing, and believed for others! First, we see that a woman from Canaan asked for mercy for her daughter who was vexed with a devil. She asked for mercy and received healing, which proves that mercy is healing and healing is mercy. (If His mercy endure~ forever then His healing must endure forever!) The disciples wanted to send her away. I suppose it was because she did not belong to their group. People today are not so much interested in people who do not belong to their church. Jesus told this lady that healing is only promised to the children. Although Jesus did not promise healing to this woman's daughter, she decided that she was going to keep asking until she received it anyway! It was she that made that decision, and Jesus met her demands. She wrote the ticket and Jesus filled it! Her daughter was delivered! Jesus said, "0 woman, great is thy faith; be it unto thee even as thou wilt" (Matt. 15 :28). If a woman, who is not a child of God, may write her own ticket and receive healing at a distance, when healing is not promised, then we surely can receive' healing, which is the children's bread, according to the Scriptures which cannot be broken! I was traveling along the road and saw many trailers for rent. You could save money on these "U Haul" trailers, because you could take the trailer off to the west coast for instance, and leave it. You did not need to return it, for the "U Haul" company out there was the same company. You could just leave the trailer with them. It is the same way with the Lord. He is everywhere, on the west coast and on the east coast. What difference does it make? -1-

In Meridian. Mississippi, a lady came into the tent meeting and asked us to pray for her daughter who was on the west coast. Since God was no little God and since He was present in both places, we just asked Him to heal her daughter nearly three thousand miles away. The next morning that daughter wrote her mother a letter with the hand that had been paralyzed the day before! She was healed, proving there is no distance with the Lord. I wanted to send some money up near the east coast. I learned that I could send that money by telegram in a matter of minutes. Since it was the same company I could pay the company here and the company there would immediately pay the mall for me, there on the ast coast! It is the same way with the Lord. I was in Bangor, Maine; Mrs. A. from Hot Springs, Arkansas, phoned me and asked me to pray for her husband, who was dying with heart trouble. I told her that we would pray at 6 :00 o'clock Central Standard Time. At G :00 o'clock God healed her husband and saved him! He left the hospital and is still running his business after several years ! We wrote th ticket. God accepted it as we wrote it. The other person whom Jesus ;.;aid had great faith was a centurion ill Capernaum, S".:1C people came and told Jesus that the centurion was worthy because he had built a synagogue. This Jesus ignored. The cent.urion came and told Jesus, that he was not worthy, that his servant was grievously tormented. Jesus said, "I will come and heal him." But the centurion wrote his own ticket. He decided that he would believe Ior something that had not been written, that had not been promised. He was not one of the children. He decided that he would believe for healing at a word, at a distance. Did Jesus rebuke him? No, Jesus commended him. He marveled! He said that this centurion had more faith than anyone in Israel! (Matt. 8:10) In the meeting in Clovis, New Mexico, a lady came and asked me to pray for her sister in the nervous hospital. We agreed that she would be healed. Five days later she went to see her sister and learned that

she had been well five days! She brought her home. Jesus says, "If two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask it shall be done for them." We were on earth. The woman at the nervous hospital was on earth. We agreed. God did it. Six years later I was back in Clovis. That lady came to me and said her sister was still well. Wherever I went, in Jerusalem, Rome 'or Hong Kong, there were people there from America. They would pull their credit cards out and sign their name. That was the same as money to the business men. They could buy as well as they could in America. Their credit was good all over the world. I could pray while I was in China for something to be done for someone in America. God would honor that ticket I wrote over there and do things for me in America. There is no distance with Him. His arms are not short! The Nobleman received healing for his son at a distance. I find in the Bible that the woman with the issue of blood did a new thing and said within herself, "If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole." She was healed from a killing disease. Jesus did not say that. She did! She wrote her own ticket. Jesus honored it. Pan American gave me a ticket here. It was honored in Hong Kong. It was the same the world over! Pan American was there. Pan American is here-God is here. God is there-we pray. He answers there! The woman did not pray. In Mark 11 :23, Jesus did not say you could have what you pray. He said that you could have what you say. Yesterday one of the greatest men of God I know of came from the West Coast and told me that God healed at a distance when we wrote our own ticket, as we were nearly two thousand miles away. The following is what he told me in his own words. I hope it blesses your soul and body as it did mine: I am Rev. C. H. Asher. I was pastor of LaMesa Gospel Tabernacle in LaMesa, California, for about four years and after four years of hard labor, I had a heart failure on June 30, 1958. Not knowing what it was, I went to our Saturday evening prayer meeting

..

-2-

-3-

and conducted prayer meeting that evening. I preached Sunday morning at the 11 :00 o'clock service and also the Sunday evening service, and attended the youth rally Monday evening. Tuesday I had another failure and my good wife, who has stood by me all these years, wanted me to go and be examined by a physician. I finally consented, and they had me rushed to one of the best hospitals in the San Diego area. After I was taken there I had thrombosis (heart attack). They had three doctors with me. The doctors and nurses said I wasn't going to live, but I lived through the night. My fingernails and toenails had turned blue. The doctor told my wife they had better call the children. I was not going to be there much longer. I lingered between life and death for three months. Practically all of that time I was under oxygen. The doctors said I didn't respond to any kind of medication. After about three months flat on my back lingering 011 the border of death, I had my wife call Bro. W. V. Grant in Dallas, Texas to pray for me. He said for us to pray at a certain hour (6 :00 o'clock P.M.). That night I was under the influence of high anesthetic. Normally I would not have awakened until about 4 :00 a.m. But at 1 :35, I called my wife and told her the angel of the Lord han appeared to me. He showed me my heart, he said I had a diseased heart, one side of it was diseased, the other side was healed. He said, "I am healing your heart." He also said that my ministry would be teaching, instructing and counseling. He said for me not to let anyone raise me up for three days and nights. They had been raising me up to about a 45 degree angle to eat. He said for me to eat lying flat on my back-to eat my bread coated with honey. As he started to leave he told me he was the angel of the Lord. Oh that was a glorious occasion in my life. An angelic: visitor from the excellent glory world right by my bedside, with his healing power and influence. So 1 knew that it was a true angel. After three days obeying the angels orders, I began to gain strength and I have been gaining strength ever since. Now I am back in the ministry of the Lord Jesus

Christ, endeavoring to tell the people about the love of Christ, the good news. Oh! Christ's gospel is good news to those who are bound in sin. Jesus came to bind the broken. He is nigh co those who have a contrite heart. Jesus also said on one occasion for us not to let our hearts be troubled, to believe in Him, put our trust and confidence in Him, to rely upon Him and to believe Him! He is the healer of all our diseases. Bless the Lord, Oh my soul, who forgiveth all our iniquities and healeth all our diseases. To those of you who have heart trouble put your trust in God and read His Word and take it as a message from God to you. Because in it is life and strength. Jesus said "The words that I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life." He is the resurrection and the life. Oh, thank God that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

WHY ARE MOST OF THE PEOPLE HEALED PENTECOSTAL PEOPLE?

WHO ARE

I believe there are a great m.any more people healed who belong to other groups than there are Pentecostals. They have simple faith. It seems that they can accept it easier than many Pentecostals. In Bible times Jesus found that foreigners and strangers had faith for healing quicker than many of His own people. In speaking of the centurion at Capernaum Jesus said that he had faith greater than any of His people. (Matt. 8 :10). Jesus marveled! We have been made to marvel when we saw people from many different den-ominations come and receive healing, while some of our own people had been sick for years! In the presence of the centurion Jesus said, " ... many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness ... " Speaking to a Gentile woman Jesus said, "0 woman, great is thy faith." (Matt. 15 :28). I don't find where He said that to His own. But he said, "0 ye of little faith," to one group of disciples.

In our meetings we have seen great numbers of people from other denominations healed and filled with the Spirit. In the Philippine Islands Catholic people, some of whom had never been to a Protestant service, seemed to receive their healing much easier than our people. Deaf mutes and diseased people were healed in the audience in the day services. Teaming thousands of Pentecostals have been healed but it is amazing to see people healed who have not been taught about healing! Early Christians' Experiences Paul went among rank heathen and saw them healed at a word. It seemed that God used healing as a door etep to salvation, to build men's faith so they could accept Jesus as their Saviour. When Peter went to a strange country whole cities full of people were healed, which brought the people to a faith in Christ. causing them to turn to the Lord (Acts 9: 35) . Philip went t.o other people which were not of his denomination and saw them receiving healing by the multitudes (Acts 8). This caused a great revival to break out in the City of Samaria. Paul was fighting divine healing with all his heart. In three days, even before he was in a healing meeting, he was healed of blind eyes. Faith Comes By Hearing God will not let His Word return void. No Word of God is without power. God will hasten His Word to perform it. Faith comes by hearing if that hearing is according to the Word of God. Faith leaves by hearing some negative reports. That is why we should make known His deeds among the people. Blind Bartimaeus heard about divine healing and made his way to Jesus. He received his sight. Naaman heard about healing and made his way to Elisha. He was healed of leprosy. A little Baptist lady heard about what was going on in our meeting. She asked to be brought to service. She r,rose from a chair in which she had been sitting more than ten years. She is still healed! It was her first time ever to be in a full gospel meeting. -6-

In our last meeting it was noticed that the presence of God was in our midst to heal. A Baptist lady brought her teenage son, who had been a deaf mute from birth. He was perfectly healed so he could hear and speak. A Catholic man who was a deaf mute could hear and talk after prayer. In St. John, New Brunswick a teenage girl was brought from an unbelieving family. She had been a deaf mute all her life. After prayer she could hear a watch tick with either ear. She was playing the piano when I saw her last. In the same meeting another deaf mute was healed so she could hear a watch with either ear. She came back night af'ter night and testified. She received the Holy Ghost. An Angelican lady rose from her wheel chair and walked. A lady who was 11 Jehovah Witness received a marvelous healing and received the Holy Ghost Baptism. When you come for healing God does not look at your denomination. IIe looks at the attitude of your heart. It is not who you are, but who Jesus is that counts. The eyes of the Lord are now running to and fro throughout all the earth, 110t just one church, to show Himself to those whose hearts are in the right attitude toward Him. IS IT REALLY RIGHT FOR A MAN TO GO TO A TOWN AND TELL WHAT TOOK PLACE UNDER HIS MINISTRY IN ANOTHER TOWN? IS THAT BOASTING? Jesus referred to His ministry in other towns. "And He said unto them, 'Ye will surely say unto me this proverb, physician, heal thyself: whatsoever we have heard done in Caperriaum, do also here in thy country'." Luke 4 :23. This is not the only time that Jesus mentioned what took place in His ministry elsewhere. He mentioned the mighty works which had been done in Chorazin and Bethsaida. Luke 10 :13. He pronounced judgment on Jerusalem because she resisted His miracles. He spoke very freely of His miracles in John, chapters 6, 7 and

-7-

8. He said, "The works that I do bear witness that I am from God." Then again, "Believe Me for the work's sake." Jesus taught us not to put our light under a bushel, but on a candle stick, so that all who are in the house may see the good works and glorify God. The Word of God declares, "Make known His deeds among the people." We are commanded to speak of His wonderful works. Jesus told the man who was delivered from devils who dwelt among the tombs, "Go home and tell your friends." Mark 5 :30. Some people will publish all the failures they can hear about, but they don't believe in people publishing the miracles that take place. While the unbelievers are publishing what God did not do, the believers should be publishing what God did do. Of course, Jesus did tell a few people not to tell some things until He arose from the dead. That was so He could finish His ministry without too much opposition. But after that the first words He said were, "Go and tell." People must have been telling the good news ever since. The Gospel is good news. What God did not do is bad news. Some people are doubt builders, while others are faith builders. Paul Told What God Had Done Through His Ministry in Other Towns "Then all the multitude kept silence, and gave audience to Barnabas and Paul, declaring what miracles and wonders God had wrought among the Gentiles by them." Acts 15:12. Paul was not content to tell these things by mouth. He sent messengers throughout the country telling the people what God was doing, I am sure that he gave consent for Luke to write the whole book of Acts, which tells of the mighty way the Lord worked through Paul as he went from revival to revival-from city to city, and from country to country. In another place Paul wrote, "And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power." I Cor. 2 :4. Then again, "But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord will, and will know, not the speech

of them which are puffed up, but the power." I Cor. 4:19. Again we read, "Whereunto I also labour, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily." Col. 1 :29. Again Paul is heard saying, "For He that wrought effectually in Peter to the Apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles." The reason Paul could freely speak of the miracle working power of God in these verses, and many others, was that he laid no claim to the power as being his. Had he claimed the power as his own, then he could have been a little shy. Rather he declared the wonderful works of God. Did you ever stop to consider the fact that it might be pride that wants the natural man to stand back, because of public opinion, and dodge criticism of the unbelievers by being "polite", and keeping quiet about these things. while the unbelievers are busy telling what the devil is doing? No, we are commanded to make known His deeds among the people. This we will do, by the grace of God! Peter felt free to tell what God did through his ministry. Acts 15 :7-8.

IS THE HEALING

REVIVAL

TAPERING

OFF?

Yes , it seems to be in some places, but . in other . localities it is better than ever before. So It was m Bible days. In some countries the supernatural became so common men ignored signs, miracles and wonders. Jesus and the apostles withdrew from some towns and placed a curse of God upon them. Those towns were left desolate. They sinned against the Spirit of God. We also stood on the spot where Jesus looked out over the City of Jerusalem; where He stretched out His hand and said, "0 Jerusalem, Jerusalem ... Behold your house is left unto you desolate." (Matt. 23 :27-38) Since then men have tried to rebuild the temple and failed. In one or more cases balls of fire came down from Heaven and frightened the men away who tried to build it. It seems that a city can sin against God, or sin away

-8-

-9-

its day of grace, as well as an individual. It will be better for Sodom and Gomorrah at the Day of Judgement than for some people who have rejected the supernatural. The people of Nineveh shall rise in judgment and condemn the generation that shut their eyes to the miracles in Jesus' day. (Matt. 12 :41, Luke 11) They bordered on the unpardonable sin. How shall we escape if we neglect this great salvation, which is signs, miracles, wonders and Spiritual gifts? (Heb. 2 :4) Men do not need to murder, lie and rob, they can just ignore t.he supernatural move of God, then the servant of God shall shake the dust of his feet off as a testimony against them. Hitler will be ahead of them at the JUdgment. When this happens God's servants will Go to the Next Town There they will be accepted. It was the same way in the ministry of Peter, Paul, Jesus and all the New Testament preachers. Paul would turn from whole cities after he preached to them the final message of judgment. (Act 13 :46) Then he went to another city where he saw real revival. When people saw the supernatural in evidence they turned to God by the multitude. Whole cities turned to God. Peter "shook the dust" against one city as a testimony against them. When he went to the next city he had results. Two whole cities turned to the Lord. (Acts 9 :35) Healing the sick and casting out devils is still the only answer for revival. To some groups of people the Miracles Become Common You remember a few years ago. When someone received the baptism of the Holy Ghost, people would climb benches to see the person receive the experience. In many places today a person may receive this glorious experience and some members of the church never hear about it. It is the same with healing and miracles. In some cities people have healing meetings the year around. The only people who are attracted are visitors from distant places, drawn by advertising.

The Beaten Path There are certain cities to which deliverance men go. Thousands of other cities, they skip for various reasons. When they go to new cities they see the same interest as they did in other towns at the beginning of this outpouring. At this writing I am in Cove, Arkansas. There are. about as many under the tent as the town has popula.tion. I guess there are more seats outside of the tent than there are inside. They are all full and many people are standing and sitting in cars. A woman could not find her goiter last night after prayer. A high official's wife became a believer when she saw a girl healed of crossed-eyes. Several deaf ears were opened. A crippled lady walked out of the tent without her crutches and returned. to the service without them. Men were stirred just as they were when the healing reveival first came to your town.

IS IT NOT BETTER TO HAVE A SOUL SAVING REVIVAL AND NOT MENTION HEALING, MIRACLES, AND CASTING OUT DEVILS, WHICH ARE LESS IMPORTANT? It takes all the parts to make the whole. If you don't have all the parts you don't have the whole. How can you have the major if you are not willing to have the minor? If you are not faithful in the least then you would also be unfaithful in much. At least you should have the least. Peter Had A New Testament Revival

When men saw the lame man walk at the Beautiful Gate, about five thousand people turned to the Lord. They were all filled with the Holy Ghost. (Acts 4:30). When people saw a man walk for the first time in eight years two whole cities turned to the Lord (Acts 9:42). When God raised a woman from the dead it was known throughout Joppa. Many believed in the Lord. (Acts 9 :42).

-10-

-11-

Peter knew of no other way. That was what he was taught. That was what he saw for over three years in the school of actual experience. Jesus had said, "The works that I do shall ye do also." (John 14 :12). We know of no other way to have a Biblical revival. We are in the New Testament days now. This is the same dispensation in which Peter and John lived. The Book of Acts is really the Acts of the Holy Spirit. God used other men than the Apostles. There is no amen at the end of Acts. Perhaps it should end with :1 comma; a comma shows that there is more coming. Paul Also Had a New Testament Revival

Holy Ghost. (Acts 19 :1-6). In fact Paul was not satisfied for any Christian to fall short of the Holy Ghost Baptism. (1 Cor. 14:5). That is the normal New Testament experience. His people came behind in no gift. Philip Had a New Testament Revival Philip was not an apostle. lIe may not have had license to preach. But he had a great revival in Samaria. Remember those people down there in 'Samaria were not of his denomination, but he had a great citywide revival down there, anyway. Unclean spirits came out of people who were possessed. Many people were healed of many kinds of diseases.

Although public opinion was against him; although it brought persecution down upon his head, Paul, under the anointing of the Holy Spirit, discerned an evil spirit in a fortunteller and cast out that Spirit. She had brought much money in for her employers. So public opinion caused these pioneer preachers to be put in jail. (Acts 16). This girl followed them around each day and testified that these ministers were sent of God. Had she made this same "confession" in some modern day so-called revivals she would have been declared a convert and perhaps made a charter member. Paul did not declare her a convert until she was delivered from devils. She was not taken in on mere confession. He refused to populate the church with those people who had confessed and did not possess. A great revival followed the miracle. The size of the crowd was not what made the revival; it was the size of Paul's God, who made men free from the power of sin. Even John the Baptist did not take people in on mere confession, or by statement, or by decision, or by baptism, or by letter. He required them to prove that they had repented by bringing forth fruits. "By their fruits ye shall know them." A good tree does not bear evil fruit. Two of Paul's workers explained to John's disciples the way of the Lord more perfectly: (Acts 18). Then Paul laid his hands on them and saw them receive the

WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF CANCER? There is a cause, for God says, ... "The curse causeless shall not come." (Prov. 26 :2) The report on the news says that a test of four hundred and twenty men in one hospital proves that cigarettes cause cancer. Another report says that a certain chemical in cranberries causes cancer. Certain commentators contend that chemicals in celery and other crops cause cancer. A certain clergyman charges that chemicals in charcoal-broiling', Coca-Colas, chlorine in water or caffein in coffee cause cancer. Others claim that certain chemicals in chicken skin cause cancer. For years we have been warned that cancer comes as a direct result of worry, want, despondency, discouragement, trouble, tenseness, oppression, depression and fear. All these open the door to this enemy of mankind. The Curse of Cancer The truth is that cancer is an enemy that comes into man's body when his resistance is broken down. "He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls." (Prov. 25:28) Anything that breaks down your spirit of resistance opens the door for the enemy of man to enter. The water of the Mississippi River is ready to flood the valuable Mississippi Delta and destroy the crop if the levy is broken.

-12-

-13-

Communism comes in to destroy Christianity without a just cause if our national defense is weakened. Cancer is like Communism. It stands ready to come into any crack that is made in your constitution or your defense. The Cure of Cancer We may not always put our finger on the same cause of each case of cancer, but we know the cure for this curse. Faith in God and in His Word was a sure cure for King Hezekiah when he had the cruel killer. He turned his face to the wall and set his house in order. The compassion of Christ in him caused the cruel cancer to be cured. Faith will drive out worry, fear, discouragement, despondency, despair, doubts, habits and rebellion, for faith is the stronger force. Faith will bind up the broken heart and build the crumbled walls! When faith moves in, fear moves out, as the sun that drives away the darkness of night. Faith brings joy, peace, contentment, praise, rest, relaxation, confidence and courage. When the walls of resistance are rebuilt the deadly disease can no longer put its ugly head inside the temple of God. Cancer is strong, but "when a stronger than he shall come upon him, and overcome him, he taketh from him all his armour wherein he trusted, and divideth his spoils." (Luke 11 :22) Just in our last meeting' a report came of a pastor's wife we prayed for, who was dying with a cruel cancer. After prayer she returned to her doctor and found that there was no trace of the trouble. Christ Cures Cancer When Christ placed a curse on the roots of the fig tree the disciples could see no difference at that moment, but the fig tree died. It withered from the roots! When Christ curses the roots of that cancer it must wither and die! It can't live without roots. The physician does all he can. He says that your body is starving to death because the cancer is eating up all your strength. Godsays that after He curses the cancer it withers and dies. For it starves to death,

because it cannot receive any strength. It had taken its food through its roots. Now the roots are cursed-the cancer starves. Jesus is now saying, "Behold, J give you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over ALL the power of the enemy: and noth ing shall by any means hurt you." We can't continually cite the cause, but we can he certain that Christ. curses and cures cancer by the Crucifixion on the cruel Cross of Calvary.

ARE HEALING TESTIMONIES EVER BY DOCTORS' STATEMENTS?

VERIFIED

I had pus in the bones of my legs for about twentysix years. Some friends had the same trouble and died. After I was prayed for the doctor examined me and said that I did have the trouble. but it was gone! I try. not to double back and hold a revival in the same places very much, but we have just finished. a revival in Vidor, Texas where we have been before in five series. At least three people testified that they had been healed in our former services. Each of them had gone back to their doctor who could not find the old trouble. They gave unsolicited testimonies. One was a baby I remembered so well. It had a hole in its heart. The doctors said that it could not live; if it did it would be a spastic baby. After we prayed for it the doctor examined it and declared that the hole was gone! He was amazed! Another was a testimony of a man, who could not breathe without an oxygen tank with him at all times. After prayer he went back to his doctor for an examination. The doctor was so amazed that he could not say anything for five minutes. He wrote a letter saying that the man could go back to work. After five years he is still free from the old trouble. . . An Assembly of God pastor's wife was dying WIth cancer. The doctors said that she could not live. After prayer she .went back and had the doctor examine her. He could not find the cancer. These three testimonies came in our last meeting

-14-

-15-

without us asking for them. About one month ago Vie were in EI Paso in a meeting. A service boy came for prayer. Three vertebrae were replaced in his neck. He was happy. Then suddenly 1 felt God healing something else in his body. "I am not sure, but I believe it's blood pressure," 1 said. "Do you not have low blood pressure?" He said that he did not know. I felt that God had healed him. The next night this mall returned and told that he went back and checked ~lis records and found that he did have low blood pressure. He was examined again and it was gone! It is on the government record. He had the low blood pressure before prayer. He did not have it after prayer. In the third chapter of Acts we see a record of a doctor's statement. Doctor Luke examined a man and said that he did not have any strength in his ankle bones. After Peter ministered healing to the man, Doctor Luke said that he received strength in his ankle bones and began to leap and walk. In chapter fourteen z. man was healed also. Doctor Luke said he had never walked. Then he said, after the man was healed, that he could walk! It was Paul and Peter who ministered healing to these cripples by God's power, and not Luke with his medicine kit.

WHO MUST GO ON A LONG FAST? The Lord would seldom require a sick person to go on a long fast. The disciples failed to deliver a little afflicted boy from evil spirits. Jesus came along and delivered the boy and healed him. The disciples asked why they could not deliver the boy. Jesus told them that kind came out only by prayer and fasting (Mark
9) .

Who should have done the fasting, the little sick boy or Peter? It was the strong and husky Apostle Peter who should have done the fasting, and not the afflicted boy. We don't read in the Bible that Jesus told the sick people to fast, but we do read that He raised them up and commanded that they be given something to eat.

He told the disciples to feed the people lest they fall by the wayside. The little boy was delivered. Who did the fasting? It was Jesus who had already done the fasting in the wilderness. It was there that He received the victory over the devil; He came out victorious; with the anointing to set the captives free. This did not mean that He had to stop and go on a long fast each time someone was delivered. He had received the power while He was on the fast in the wilderness. It is not the real sickly, nervous, fearful type person that Jesus tells to go on a long fast; one who feels like she is sinning by eating or sleeping. Goel wants to give His beloved sleep and food. It is the man or woman with a strong, healthy body that should go on a long fast. The fast breaks down the resistance and rebellion. The body is buffeted and brought under subjection, so you can be temperate in all things. In this way the Spirit can take control and anoint you for the ministry of deliverance. The Lord does not require a "hen pecked" husband to go on a long fast. A man with a nagging wife seldom can fast and pray; they can't give themselves continually to the Word of God and prayer as did the apostles. His wife will continually say, "Carry me to the beauty shop", "Come give this baby a bath", "Go get a loaf of bread", "Run back and get some ice", "Make some tea", "Now run visit that old brother and see how he is doing", "Come fry some meat", "Carry me for a week's visit to my mother in another state". If you have a wife like that you must decide whether you are going to please your wife 01' please the Lord. A good wife is to be commended. They are responsible for the great ministry which God has given their husband. They are like the third verse in a song; they are often left out. He that gets a good wife gets a good thing; he that gets not a good wife gets a thing. The Lord does not expect us to leave the other undone. The Pharisees fasted. Jesus said, "This you should have done and not leit the other undone." We must bring up all the loose ends. It will do little good to fast -17-

unless you do the other things which prepare you for a deliverance ministry. Some people quit chewing tobacco, hut they still "chew the rag". Some people pay the preacher but they won't pay the grocerman. Some talk to the Lord, but they still talk about their neighbor. Why do you call Him Lord, Lord, and do not the things I-Ie says? You may overcome the crave for food, but have you conquered the crave for foolishness, wine, women, and money? Are you fasting for a selfish reason, or publicity; then why do you tell people that you are on a ten day fast? It is guod to fast if you do not leave the other undone. The Lord does not call a liar on a long fast. He must first repent of his lies before he receives a deliverance ministry. Some people gad about, telling people they are on a thirty day fast when they are not., They feel free to drink Coca Colas, fresh buttermilk, eat pie, vegetables, and whatever they crave. They still say they fasted thirty days. They should tell the truth. Dieting is not Biblical fasting. They have the wrong motive. All their works they do to be seen of men. They have their reward. God won't reward them. Rather He will punish them for lying. You pray, but ask amiss; you want to consume it upon your own lust. "Let not that man think that he will receive anything of the Lord."

The Dishonest

Unbelievers

the Lord refused to work miracles. He knew that they would not believe after they had seen a miracle. God refused to raise Lazarus from the dead just to prove His power to unbelievers. He said they would not believe after they saw a miracle of raising the dead (Luke 16:31). Several years later another Lazarus was raised from the dead. The religious leaders of that day became so angry that they killed Jesus and wanted to kill Lazarus (John 12:10). Even then Jesus raised Lazarus because He loved him (John 11 :36), and not just to accept a challenge from religious leaders. King Herod challenged Jesus to perform a miracle. Jesus did not perform a miracle to prove that He could (Luke 23:8), not even to free Himself. Had Jesus been performing miracles to prove that He had power to do so, He would not have put the unbelievers out of the house when He wanted to perform a special miracle (Mark 5 :37). Healing is the children's bread OVIatt. 15 :26). A mother gives her children bread not to prove she has power to do so; she feeds her children because she loves them; she has the mother nature. God does things for His children because He is merciful, truthful, and has a father nature. Numerous times we see that Jesus healed people because He was moved with compassion, not to accept a challenge. (Mark 1 :41) Elijah did not accept a challenge when he called fire down from heaven and proved the power of God to a nation. He threw out the challenge. Jesus, the apostles, or any of the early Christians did not perform miracles in answer to a challenge. They did not go about accepting challenges; They threw out the challenge. When the Holy Spirit led Brother Branham to throw out a challenge for the antichrist group to heal a blind man, He stood behind that challenge and healed the blind man, when they failed. As a result thousands gave their heart to God! In the healing of Naaman it was Elisha who threw out the challenge (II Kings 5 :8). Naaman was not a dishonest unbeliever throwing out, challenges to prove

his religion. He was an honest sufferer seeking mercy and compassion. There are some Honest Unbelievers Thomas was an unbeliever, but he was not blinded bv prejudice. When he saw a miracle he believed. P.rejudice came from the word prejudged. Pharisees say, "If I see it 1 won't believe." God slayed some religious people because they did 1I0t believe after they saw miracles (Heb. 3 :9-17). To the dishonest unbelievers Goo did not perform any miracles of healing. To one He performed a miracle of judgment. and struck him blind for a season. (Acts 13:11). Paul turned them over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh (1 Tim. 1 :19, II Tim. 2 :18) that they might learn not to blaspheme. They denied the message of the resurrection power, saying that it was past away. That is the same thing as people denying the message of miracles and healing. For Jesus IS the resurrection and the LIFE.

HOW CAN I HAVE A SUPERNATURAL MINISTRY? God has promised'{these signs" will follow our ministry if we preach the gospel to all the world. People will be healed, devils will be cast out, the gifts will be manifested and men will receive the Holy Ghost. We will have power over serpents, poison and over all the power of the enemy. (Mark 16:15-17) These signs are not promised to people who are not interested in carrying the gospel to ALL the world-those who only want to keep it betv..een four walls. One pastor told me that he did not want to advertise the revival. He said he was not interested in anyone coming except his own members. One of his members became sick. He told his congregation to pray that she would "bow submissively to God's will, and that she would resign herself to death." He did not once mention her healing. One pastor recently said that he wanted a revival, but he had a "higher class" of people than the other -20-

churches, and he did not want them mixing with any other groups. A preachers wife said, "Jim and I raised this church up for our own special benefit; I don't want anyone else 'fooling' with it." Another pastor said, "I am here for only one purpose, and that is to build a church for my denomination." That is fine, but the first purpose should be to build for Jesus and win souls. Elisha told a widow woman, who was deeply in debt, to borrow some vessels - not a few. As long as the vessels lasted the supernatural miracle-working power operated. When the oil stopped flowing he told her that had she brought more vessels more would have been filled. The power will continue to operate as long as we have vessels to fill. If you are only interested in your group; if no one is brought in who needs to be saved, filled or healed, you will see no deliverance. God has promised to give us an apostolic ministry if we carry this gospel to every nation. (Matt. 28:20) This power is not promised to an isolated group which is content to keep the gospel fenced in - one group or a "chosen few", they must have a vision to win ALL the world for Christ. Thousands of pastors spend thousands of dollars for advertising on television, radio and newspaper. They have a burden for people regardless if they are members', relatives or strangers. They are willing to win souls even if the converts become members of other churches. An old bear will fight for her cubs. An old hen will fight for her chickens. An old cow will defend her calf. Anyone will pray for his own children or his own denomination, but the love of God will cause us to try to win people who are not our own relatives. God has promised to redeem our bodies if we carry the gospel to all the world. If we preach the gospel to ALL the world then the end will come. The power that raised Jesus from the dead will quicken our bodies. (Matt. 24:14) The Gospel of the Kingdom must first be published to all the world.

-21--

One pastor told his young people who wanted to win souls in street services and tent meetings that "The hospital is the place for people to be born, and not out 011 the street." He seemed to think that if someone were born outside of his church he was an illegitimate child, and the gospel would be adulterated, so he finally trained his young people to have skating parties instead of street meetings. A certain man made a great supper. (Luke 14 :16) People refused to come. The Lord said unto the servant, "Go out into the highways and hedges and compel them to come." The Lord is preparing the Marriage Supper in the air. His chosen ones will be there shut away' from the "wrath without mixture." He is saying, "Call the poor, maimed, lame and blind." We are now in that day. That is why the love of God constrains us to go even :to the uttermost parts of the earth, to a people of a strange language, and risk our lives to help prepare these precious people for His coming. We go. That is why He confirms the Word with signs following.

MUST ONE BE SAVED IN ORDER TO BE HEALED? Not every time. In fact, there were many sinners healed in Bible times. If you believe that one cannot be healed until he is saved, then according to your faith, be it unto you. God will not answer your prayer and heal you while at the same time you are believing that He will not do it. The Bible says that the goodness of God leads men to repentance. That is why the Lord is good to people; He wants to lead them to repentance. Jesus healed a man at the pool of Betheseda one day, who had been crippled for thirty-eight years. He did not ask him if he was saved or not saved: He only asked him, "Wilt thou be made .whole ?" Had the rest of them been willing He would have healed them also. We were on the spot a few months ago where Jesus met this man and healed him. We stood and looked at the pool where the angel came and troubled the water each year. The thought came to mind. "It is not only

once each year; it is not only the one who first gets in some water, but it is any day and any hour in the year when one is willing to be made whole. 1 t.hey only knew it they could rise and walk now." This is the way we should work in many cases. After people accept Christ as their healer, then they will listen to our message and accept Him as their Saviour. Many ministers go about building doubt. They tell the sinner that Jesus will not heal them unless they first get saved. God's plan is this: "And the prayer of faith shall save the sick, and the Lord shall raise him up; and if he have committed sins, they shall be forgiven him." (James 5 :15). In service one night I went back to ask a lady if she would go and be saved. She motioned to me and let me know that she could not hear me, for she was deaf. I first prayed for her to be healed. When she saw that she could hear a whisper, then she gladly surrendered to the Lord. It was easy for her then. Recently, in Minneapolis, a man came into the healing service who was an alcoholic. He had some disease which made his hands shake all the time. We prayed. When he saw that he was healed he surrendered his life to the Lord. He was saved for the first time in his life, and testified that his hands were perfectly still. The audience could see it! The man reported that he was delivered from alcohol. Had I told him that he could never be healed until he was first saved perhaps his faith would never have risen high enough to be delivered from alcohol. Jesus even healed His enemy while He was being arrested in the Garden. If He would heal His enemy, He certainly would heal one of His children. Look up and believe Him! A lady came to Jesus asking for healing for her daughter. Jesus started to preach her a message on dispensations, telling her that her time had not yet come. She kept asking and showed so much faith that Jesus said, by His actions, "Dispensations or no dispensations, your daughter will be healed!" Although her daughter was not one of the "children," she was healed anyway. Such is the mercy of Jesus Christ. He

is the same yesterday, today and forever. A centurion at Caperriaum came to the Lord for His servant's healing. Jesus did not say, "This is not the righ t dispensation for that. It will come at another time." Jesus did not say, "You cannot receive healing f'or your servant because you are not a Christian." No, Jesus said, in effect. "You have more faith than any of my people." And He did not withhold healing- from the man. Jesus told us to take His place. We should first administer divine healing to the sick and suffering and dying, then they will have confidence in a merciful and compa 'onate Christ. They will believe in Him and want to serve Him. The goodness of God will lead them to repentance.

DO YOU THINK PREACHERS WHO WEAR GLASSES SHOULD PRAY FOR THE SICK? You may as well ask if a preacher with a filling in his tooth should pray for the sick. At a certain age some people lose their teeth. Some people lose them earlier in life than others do. It depends on the race and stock of people. Would you refuse to let a man pray for you who has a filling in his tooth, or a tooth missing? Foolish! you say, but it is no more foolish than the auestion that you asked about the man who wears glasses praying for the sick. It is normal for a man's eyes to grow dim at a certain time in life. There is no riiff'erence in a man with dim eyes praying for the sick than a man who has a missing tooth. It is just as great a miracle for God to give the third set of teeth as it is for God to give a man young eyes again after his eyes are worn out. You may as well ask if a man with gray hair should pray for the sick. Should a preacher with a bald head pray for the sick? At a certain age people's hair turns gray. Some of them at an earlier age than others. If 1 happen to be of a stock of people whose hair does not turn gray until late in life, I should not criticize the man whose hair turns gray at an early age. I may not be any more righ teous than he.

-24-

A minister may become bald because his hair sheds. That does not mean a man with no baldness should be critical of him, or that you should not allow him to pray for you. Likewise with a man who has gray hair. You may as well ask God to turn gray black again as to ask Him to give you young eyes after they are worn out. It is possible for God to give you black hair, after it turns gray; give you a third set of teeth; replace a kidney or bone after it has been taken out; stop the sun, causing time to stand still as in the case of Hezekiah. You would not refuse to let a man with a cork leg pray for you. God would not refuse to answer the prayer of a man with one arm. The Lord has. promised tc heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease. (Psalms 103:1-3) He has promised to forgive all our sins and heal all our disease. He may not always raise the dead, or restore an arm, give you a new set of teeth or give you black hair in place of your gray hair. One preacher came about four hundred miles to be prayed for. He was very disappointed because his eyes were not healed. I talked to him and told him that he was not sick or diseased. This caused the worry and fear to leave. People were healed. Later he came to our meeting. God gave him a new set of eyes. He discarded his glasses. So it is according to your faith. God will give you a new set of eyes or fill your teeth, if you can believe. Brother Petty, in Houston, rolled in a wheel chair and prayed for the sick several years while he pastored h church. People were healed and saved as they fell down around that wheel chair. That did not mean that God did not want to heal him. Later he came to our revival in Houston and was healed. Now he is shouting the victory on those legs, and still praying for the sick. I had the flu when I was in a revival in West Monroe. At night I got out of bed and went to church. I prayed for people who were sick, and they were healed even though I was as sick as they were. I knew of a man who pastored a church who had a hernia. Many people
_?fl_

were healed as he prayed for them. This did not mean that the Lore! did not want to heal that pastor. It only meant that the Word still stands: "According to your faith. be it unto you." All things are possible to him that believes. I f you have faith as a grain of mustard seed nothing shall be impossible unto you.

blind, that must be of God, for the devil does not open the eyes of the blind. If a man cleanses the lepers, he must be using the supernatural power' of God, for "Satan comes only to destroy men's lives," not to save them. Only God raises the dead. The devil does not open the door of the prisons (Isa. 14:17). But Jesus does (Isa. 61 :1). John the Baptist wanted to know if Jesus was really the Christ. Here is the proof that Jesus sent him: " ... go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached" (Luke 7 :22). That proved that Jesus was of God. He did not cause an image to bleed or an icon to weep. He did not create frogs, or turn water to blood. He was busy saving men's lives and souls. Some miracles don't prove anything. Some do. Jesus said the work that He did bore witness that he was from God (John 10 :25). He told them to believe Him for His work's sake (John 14:11). He said, "By their fruits ye shall know them." That means the results that follow. He did not say, "By the fruit of the Spirit", but only by their fruits (Matt. 7:2~.The fruit of the Spirit is love and joy; the fruits of a Christian is another Christian. The miracie that God worked: God keeps working miracles to save and liberate mankind. He moved upon Gideon to break the idols to pieces and deliver His people from bondage. His power was manifested in a supernatural way to cause an image to fall on its face and be broken in pieces (I Sam. 5 :3). The devil inspired people, in darkness and superstition, to want to kill Paul. Their religious leaders inspired them with prejudice, hate and murder to form a mob. They cried for two hours, "Great is Diana". (They claimed this image fell down from Jupiter-a false miracle. But Paul was busy casting out devils and healing the sick with God's power (Acts ]9:35). You say, "But they were idols." When images are worshipped they become idols. The first commandment says not to make any images or bow down to them -27-

I have no Scriptural way of knowing that this miracle is of God. There are some miracles that may be of either power. 1f a man throws down a reed and it becomes a serpent. would that be of God or of the devil'! It may be either. Moses threw down his rod and it became a serpent (Exodus 7: 12). The devil's crowd threw down their rods and they also became serpents. 11 a man puts forth his rod and causes water to become blood, would that miracle be of God or the devil'! 1 can't say. When Moses did that the, magicians did the same (Exodus 7 :22). The devil is not afraid of blood. He is after blood. He fears only the blood of J esus. If a man supernaturally brings forth frogs into existence, is that miracle of God or of the devil'! Moses did that by the power of God. The devil's crowd did it by power of Satan (Exodus 8:7). Second, here is what r do know: If a man casts out devils we know that is of God, for Satan does not cast out Satan (Matt. 1~:~6). Satan will not come out until a power stronger than he comes and binds him (Luke 11:22). Only Cod's power is stronger than Satan's. If a mall opens the eyes of the -26-

(Exodus 20 :4). The Three Hebrew Children refused to bow down to an image. The miracle that God worked was to protect these saints and save their lives from the fire. In the last days the devil will give life to an image (Rev. 13). God will perform miracles to quicken our mortal bodies and deliver us from the tribulations. He will destroy millions of dollars worth of images (Rev. 18), and deliver us from the religious people in darkness and superstition who will try to kill, thinking they are doing God a service. If it were possible Satan will deceive the very elect by his signs and wonders (Matt. 24 :24), but thank God, it is not possible. Satan comes to deceive and destroy. Jesus comes to save men's lives and save their souls (Luke \) :56). God anointed Jesus to heal all those who were oppressed of the devil. God anoints men to do the same today. The Lord's main purpose is not to perform miracles (some miracles do not prove anything). The miracles that God wants to perform is to deliver people from sin, sickness, pain, evil spirits, darkness and superstition-to let the oppressed go free!

It is the presence of God that heals ;(l1tl not I he amount of prayer, or the number of words ~po>cn over the person, that heals the sick. How often we experience that truth in our services. I have just left Minnesota, my third campaign there. The first two nights we spent time with people in the healing line. I let them tell their troubles, how long they had been sick, what the doctors said, how they had suffered, how they were suffering then, and such details. Several deaf ears were unstopped. Some of them had been totally deaf for ten or twenty years. Crossed eyes were straightened. A lady rose from a wheel chair and walked. The sense of smell was restored. Several people breathed through their nose; some for the first time in their life. A ladv used her h ip-: for the first time in years. She was made perfectly whole before

WHY ARE SOME DEALT WITH INDIVIDUALLY IN THE HEALING SERVICES, WHILE OTHERS ARE RUSHED THROUGH, WITH NOT MUCH TIME SPENT WITH THEM? IS THAT NOT RESPECT TO PERSONS? That is more or less the Lord's business. The Lord is working through His servants. A minister has no results unless he is led by the Spirit of God as he ministers. As many as are led by the Spirit of God are the sons of God. Have confidence in the minister, as God's channel if you expect anything from the Lord. Naaman thought Elisha would spend a lot of time with him, because of who he was, Elisha did not as' much as run him through a healing line or lay hands on his head. You must be willing to receive deliverance in God's own way. Peter took a little time with the man at the Beautiful Gate. He talked to him and took him by the hand. He lifted him up. (Acts 3: 1-6) But he did not spend that

the audience. She rejoiced about it.. The audience rejoiced with her. Another lady testified that her cancer was gone. A lady could not find her growth. A lady's tumor was gone! Then faith rose high. People were healed in the audience. Many were healed by walking through a fast line. Many people were delivered from sin in the audience. There are advantages to services like that. More people may be ministered to in one service. Many people from distant towns, cities and states, who can't stay a long time, who are not financially able to stay for days, may receive help. This saves time, so we can give more attention to the ones who need to be saved. In this way people may receive healing while the anointing is heavy and fresh. More people will be healed than if we dealt with each one individually. The evangelist will last longer if he does not wear away his strength. God can heal a thousand as easily as He can heal ten. Then there are many people who do not want the public to know about their ailments. They may be healed while the anointing is high, in the fast line, or in the audience.

WHAT IS THE FAITH

CLINIC?

Arrangements are now being made to translate one million of four of our best books in Rio de Janeiro. These books are on salvation, Holy Ghost, and healing. Also I sent fifteen titles to South Africa last week, mostly on the working of the Holy Spirit. I have promised to send a very large shipment of books this month which are written in the English language. These are to prepare the way for our trip in September. In many different languages around the world these faith-building books are being translated at the present moment. We have over two million in print here among the English speaking people.

When we were in India we saw tons of literature on the side walk, put there by the Communists. Over thirty per-cent of all the literature in India teaches Communism. It was printed there in that nation. The government there gives top priority to education. The people there can't afford to buy books; the Communists are taking advantage of this. They make their brags that they have taken China by the printed page. They say if they can take India they can take the world. We receive many letters saying that these people cannot buy our books, since they cannot senti money out of the country. But they have all the Communist books given to them free. At a small cost we can ship them books teaching the true gospel. Now our money can buy books, but money can't buy back time that we are losing. The Jehovah Witness people have the largest printing presses in the world. They run day and night. They send forth their message in scores of different languages. They won six thousand people in South Africa in one day because they spread their doctrine with the printed page in advance. We have a press that will print one hundred thousand pages per hour. \\'c are sending our books to South Africa which teach the true doctrine. We expect to follow them and see what h'~l)pens. Russia printed four times as many books in a single year' as did the United States; Many of them were in other languages. They are reaching the world. They shoot "arrows, even arrows of bitter words", (Psalms 64 :2-3). We must hit when the iron is hot and where the iron is hot. It will soon cool off! We are now moving into the dead center of our World Crusade for Souls. The emphasis is laid mainly on a vast literature program for world evangelization. A million souls each week learn to read. We don't ask, "Will they read T" We are asking "What are they going to read?" If we don't give them something to read the false cults will. Our missionaries have taught the people to read. The Communists are giving them the literature to read. -31-

We want the international literature drive to go right along with our city-wide revivals. The hands of people whose minds and souls are hungry are reaching out to you. "Give ye them to eat" (Luke 9 :13). "The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it" (Psalms 68:11). The demands are increasing for our publications in the Native language. Three billion and four hundred million dollars each year are spent by the Communists ('11 the printed page. That is cheaper than bombers, tanh. rockets, planes, and building back the ruined cities, They want the cities just as they are. They have stolen Cod's plan. "How beautiful are the feet of him ... that publisheth Salvation ... " (Isa. 52 :7). Pray that people will dial 1570 at 9 :45 P.M. C.S.T. Il is figured that a soul can be won for fourteen cents by the printed page. When public services are "lopped bv the governments the "printed preachers" vet proclaim the message of deliverance. They can preach 10 millions of areas at once. A native can win a whole family with one book. A hundred books can be vour representative overseas. As long as part of a book holds together it is passed from one to another, winning souls in your plac-e. I have never seen any foreigner throw away a book. One hundred dollars will print a thousand books on "The Gift of Faith." "And the word of the Lord was published out all the region" (Acts 13:49). through-
