History
Joaquin "Chino" Roces, owner of the Manila Times was granted of a radio-TV franchise from Congress under Republic Act 2945 on June 19, 1960. He then founded the Associated Broadcasting Corporation with its first studios along Roxas Boulevard, becoming the fourth
television network established in the country. ABC operated radio and television services from 1960 until September 21, 1972 when President Ferdinand E. Marcos declared Martial Law. Both ABC and the Manila Times were forcibly shut down as a result. After the People Power Revolution in 1986, Chino Roces made a successful representation with President Corazon Cojuangco-Aquino for the restoration of the network. New stockholders led by broadcast veteran Edward Tan and Chino Roces's son Edgardo then began the arduous task of resuming broadcasts. The Securities and Exchange Commission granted their application for an increase in capitalization and amendments to ABCs articles of incorporation and by-laws. They were subsequently granted a permit to operate by the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC).

ABC inaugurated its new studio complex and transmitter tower in San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City in 1990, and began test broadcasts by the end of 1991; officially returning to the air as the Associated Broadcasting Company on February 21, 1992.
ABC acquired a new franchise to operate on December 9, 1994, under Republic Act 7831 signed by President Fidel V. Ramos. In the same year, it went on nationwide satellite broadcasting. In a surge of phenomenal growth, ABC earned its reputation as "The Fastest Growing Network"
under new network executive Tina Monzon-Palma who served as Chief Operating Officer. As a fledging station, it had taken a big leap and was now among the ranks of "The Big League". As early as its 15th month of operations, it rose to no. 3 in the overall TV network ratings with programming that combined American and all station-produced local programs. Part of their success can be attributed to their carrying of the Sailor Moon anime franchise, which effectively revitalized Filipino interest in anime. Amid the escalating network war, ABC succeeded in gaining a foothold, as the dark clouds of the Asian crisis loomed in the horizon. In 1996, the network premiered Wow Mali, a comedy show hosted by Joey de Leon featuring practical jokes played by the show's staff, and sent in by viewers. The show would become the longest-running show of its kind in the country. In 1999, ABC was awarded the channel 47 frequency in Metro Manila, the last remaining UHF frequency in the market, christening it DWDZ-TV however, has been inactive since 2003. In 2001, ABC began to produce local versions of The Price Is Right (hosted by Dawn Zulueta and later acquired by ABS-CBN); Wheel of Fortune (hosted by Rustom Padilla, later acquired by ABS-CBN); and Family Feud (hosted by Ogie Alcasid, later acquired by GMA Network). This was during the height of the game show frenzy within Philippine networks, brought on by the success of IBC's Philippine editions of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? (hosted by Christopher De Leon which is now home of TV5 at present time) and The Weakest Link (hosted by Edu Manzano).
New management Edit
In October 2003, ABC was acquired by a group led by businessman Antonio "Tonyboy" Cojuangco, Jr. former Chairman of the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) and owner of Dream Satellite Broadcasting and Bank of Commerce, among other assets. The new management introduced many changes including a stronger news and public affairs division, modernization of its broadcast equipment, and the acquisition of broadcast rights of Philippine Basketball Association games. Additionally, the network also launched a new advertising campaign and slogan, "Iba Tayo!" ("We're Different!"), which emphasized the new lineup as being more distinct and new than what was being aired by its competitors at the time. In 2005, ABC won the "Outstanding TV station" award at the 2005 KBP Golden Dove Awards, with several other programs on the network also earning awards in their respective categories. Until the end of 2006, ABC was a member of the Family Rosary Crusade. Its religious preidentification campaign "Please Pray the Rosary" was played before every program on the network until the "Iba Tayo!" re-imaging campaign. In early 2007, ABC implemented a series of budget cuts, primarily directed towards its news department, which layed off most of its employees. The cuts, held prior to the 2007 general elections, left ABC almost incapable of coverage. In November 2007, ABC debuted an array of new sports programming, including NBA basketball, pro boxing, and WWE events, as part of a new five year deal with Solar
Entertainment. However, due to their high costs, these programs were later dropped throughout 2008, and its NBA review show "House of Hoops" was cut back as well and eventually cancelled by April 2008. However, much of these programs, along with the PBA (as ABC elected not to renew its contract through the ended after the 2008 Fiesta Conference), would be picked up by RPN, who had begun a much wider partnership with Solar earlier in 2007.
Edit
In March 2008, ABC president and CEO Antonio Cojuangco announced that ABC had entered into a major block time agreement with MPB Primedia Inc., a local company backed by Media Prima Berhad of Malaysia as part of a long-term strategy to make the network more competitive. Cojuangco said MPB Primedia Inc., in principle, would produce and source most of the entertainment programs while ABC would continue to be responsible for news programming and operation of the stations.[1] Christopher Sy was named CEO of MPB Primedia, Inc.; he served in that capacity until his resignation in January 2009 due to reported differences in management style.[2] ABC "signed off" on August 8, 2008, and then aired a countdown to its re-launch for much of the next day until 19:00 PHT, when the new lineup began under their new branding of TV5.[3][4][5] Despite the name change, the corporate name will still be Associated Broadcasting Company and Tonyboy Cojuangco will remain its CEO.[6] Shall We Dance, some shows in Nick on TV5, Kerygma TV, Light Talk, and Sunday TV Mass were the only ABC programs that were carriedover to the line-up of TV5. In December 2008, a lawsuit was filed by GMA Network against ABC, and MPB Primedia, Inc. seeking to nullify the block time agreement between the companies; Media Prima Berhad was impleaded in the suit as well.[7] GMA argued that the agreement violated the Philippine constitution, which restricts mass media ownership to Filipino companies, and that MPB Primedia was established in Malaysia do skirt these laws.[7] In response, ABC's media relations head Pat Marcelo-Magbanua reiterated that the network was a Filipino company which was selfregistered and Filipino-run.[8] Despite the lawsuit, the network's ratings were revitalized by the new management, as its audience share increased from 1.9% in July 2008 (prior to the re-branding) to 11.1% in September 2009.[1]
The Kapatid Network Edit
Under the management of MPB together with the local key managers assembled, Primedia delivered significant success where TV5 performance was completely revitalized. TV5s audience share increased substantially from 1.9% in July 2008 (prior to the re-branding by Primedia) to 11.1%* in September 2009. This achievement has catapulted TV5 as the clear number 3 station in the Philippines. (*Source: AGB-NMR Arianna)
On October 20, 2009, Media Prima announced that it would be divesting its share in TV5 and selling it to the Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company's broadcasting division, MediaQuest Holdings, Inc. The acquisition was officially announced by chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan on March 2, 2010, along with the announcement of a new lineup of programming to debut on the network, along with a new campaign branding itself as the "Kapatid" ("sibling") network.[2] Dream FM and its affiliate stations in other parts of the country remained under the Cojuangco management led by former ABC stockholder Anton Lagdameo. They became collectively known as the Dream FM Network, with TV5 as its licensee until June 2011. On October 1, 2010, TV5 took over the management of MediaQuest's Nation Broadcasting Corporation stations; DWFM was re-launched as a TV5-branded news radio station on November 8, 2010, Radyo5 92.3 NewsFM, and DWNB-TV was re-launched as AksyonTV on February 21, 2011, a news channel based off TV5's newscast Aksyon.[3][4] In April 2011, TV5 launched Kapatid TV5, an international channel. The channel will be overseen by Pilipinas Global Network Ltd., a company owned by PLDT and ABC Development Corp. based in the British Virgin Islands By 2012, the network will complete the construction of its new headquarters, the 6,000-sqm TV5 Media Center located in Mandaluyong.[5] In June 2011, Sports5 began a deal with the new cable sports channel sports programming for the network under the brand AKTV. [6][7] Additionally, AKTV would also acquire the rights to the Philippine Basketball Association through a new contract with TV5, displacing Solar Sports' previous contract. [8] That PBA Games begain airing the news and general-entertainment channel AksyonTV. In December 1, 2011, TV5 Interactive was relaunched to produce interactive games are Dance Dance Revolution franchise was released with Dance Dance Revolution Philippines, with Viva Interacitve.

Edit
The PBAs winning 2011-12 seasons captured the imagination of basketball fans nationwide. Aiming to bring basketball and provide entertainment to the countryside, and discover and hone untapped talents, the PBA continues to push the boundaries with its homeand- away live coverage of games separately played in the north and south, a first and a feat in Philippine basketball. The PBA banks on the regional format of competition, a winning formula that has enticed even the non-traditional target audience to get involved. TV5s Sports5 commitment to sports development continues further through its launch of the Regional Boxing Knockout series last year. Counter clockwise: The Laguna Lakers against the Batangas Blades in a run-and gun game that characterizes the PBA; 2011 season expansion team San Juan Knights continue to be a crowd drawer even in the Pasig-Rizal Pirates turf; tremendous crowd support became a big push for the Pampanga Dragons to snatch the first PBA National Championship Title in the leagues inaugural season in 2011.

After making its presence felt in the local TV scene in recent years, Pangilinan-led TV5 aims to beat its long-established rivals at the ratings game this year with more than a dozen new shows to bolster its programming lineup. In a press conference last Wednesday, TV5 President and Chief Executive Ray C. Espinosa unveiled the networks aggressive stance to challenge the dominance of ABS-CBN Corp. and GMA Network, Inc. at the top of the TV ratings charts. Our goal is to overtake the competition and win by giving viewers something new, something they will look forward to watch on TV, Mr. Espinosa told reporters. He said more new shows will be launched this year to prove that the network is armed and ready to take on the two other networks for a battle for TV ratings.
Hindi kami magpapahuli. (We will not be left behind.) We want to prove that TV5 is a major network, and we can provide shows that have more quality, more originality and more excitement, he said. For the first quarter of the year alone, TV5 beefs up its programming with a wide array of shows across all time blocs. Last night it started airing its latest prime-time miniseries, Nandito Ako, starring American Idol runner-up David Archuleta. Joining Mr. Archuleta in the six-week series are TV5 contract stars Jasmine Curtis-Smith and Eula Caballero. The show airs weeknights 9:30 p.m., back-to-back with the nightly drama series Valiente, which began airing last week. Meanwhile, TV5 will also challenge the dominance of GMA and ABS-CBN on the afternoon programming block with the launch of two drama shows. Felina features Arci Muoz in the lead as a kind-hearted girl whose only wish is for people to love and accept her despite her cat-like appearance. Isang Dakot na Luha is a drama about ordinary people struggling to make ends meet amid the harsh realities of life in Manila. The two new dramas will both premiere on Feb. 27, with Felina airing at 2:30 p.m., and Isang Dakot na Luha following at 3:00 p.m. Aside from having new drama shows, TV5 also launched a new comedy, Kapitan Awesome, which began airing last Wednesday. The show stars actor Martin Escudero as an ordinary boy who transforms into an ugly superhero when he eats his favorite dumplings. It airs Sundays, 11:30 a.m. after the game show Toink! Sino Ang Tama?, which debuted on Feb. 12.
New news shows Edit
Meanwhile, TV5s news and information team News5 has also announced several new shows including a late-night newscast called Pilipinas News, which began airing last night. Pilipinas News replaces the news show Aksyon Journalismo, although the same news personalities (Dong Puno, Cherie Mercado, Jove Francisco and Cristy Fermin) anchor it. It airs weeknights at 11:00 p.m. It has also revamped its morning news magazine show Sapul Sa Singko and renamed it Good Morning Club. It began airing on Feb. 6, and is hosted by Paolo Bediones, Martin Andanar,
Cheryl Cosim, Amy Perez, Christine Bersola-Babao and Chiqui Roa-Puno. It airs weekdays at 5 a.m. News5 also launched a late-night public affairs show, Insider, which offers behind-the-scene glimpses of how some of the countrys most interesting institutions operate. Airing Thursdays at 10:30 p.m., Insider features stories told by News5 chief Luchi Cruz-Valdes, news production head Patrick Paez, anchors and hosts Erwin Tulfo, Cheryl Cosim, Paolo Bediones, Raffy Tulfo, Cherie Mercado, Martin Andanar, Lourd De Veyra and Mike Templo. Mr. Espinosa said TV5 will also present new game and reality shows, starting off with the Biggest Game Show in The World Asia, which began airing Feb. 12. It features a team from the Philippines competing in various parlor games and physical challenges against teams from Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam. Hosted by Joey de Leon and Richard Gomez, it airs Sundays, 9 p.m. Meanwhile, TV5 will air Extreme Makeover Home Edition Philippines starting March 26. The show, which builds homes for deserving people, features a design team of Paolo Bediones, Tessa Prieto-Valdez, Divine Lee, Tristan Jovellana, Marilen Montenegro and Joby Belmonte. For the rest of 2012, Mr. Espinosa said TV5 will launch more game and reality shows, including the singing contest Kanta Pilipinas with Lea Salonga, the dance competition Dancing Nation with Lucy Torres-Gomez, the reality dating show Love in Temptation Island with the TV5 Kapatid stars Derek Ramsay, and the local version of the Emmy-award winning reality show Amazing Race.
Noontime race Edit
But TV5s most surprising maneuver was its decision to launch a new noontime show that will go head-to-head against long-running noontime program Eat Bulaga! airing on GMA. The show is called Game N Go and will feature a number of games that will allow contestants to win huge cash prizes. Hosted by Edu Manzano, Arnell Ignacio, Shalani Soledad and Gelli de Belen, Game N Go will launching on February 18 and begin airing on March 10 at noon. Mr. Espinosa said TV5 is also preparing to launch a daily talk show featuring Sharon Cuneta. The show, called Sharon, will air weekdays at 2:30 p.m. starting March 12 right after the 5 minute music video program Kapatid Music Videos. While Felina and Isang Dakot na Luha will be moved to 3:15 to 4:30 p.m. slots. Theres more shows to come, and there are more, more, more reasons to tune in to TV5 where TV viewing gets more thrilling, more exciting and all the more fun, he said. -- Jeffrey O. Valisno

History
In what has already become its traditional premium type presentation, TV5 launched its new programs for the year that consisted of seryes, game and comedy shows, reality shows, and News & Public Affairs programs at the NBC Tent last week. The top brass were present from its president, lawyer Ray Espinosa and EVP Bobby Barreiro, plus many of the actors and hosts although we missed a whole lot like News head Luchi CruzValdes, Amy Perez, Tintin Bersola, Richard Gomez, Joey de Leon, Gina Alajar, Lourd de Veyra, Cherie Mercado and Michael de Mesa. Am glad, however, to find Chiqui Roa-Puno, Alice Dixson, Paolo Bediones, Tessa Prieto-Valdes, Gelli de Belen, Shalani Soledad-Romulo, Arnell Ignacio and Martin Andanar present. The press awaited David Archuleta whose teleserye is currently being plugged to death. Popstar Princess Sarah Geronimo whose 30-minute Viva teen telemagazine-drama series Popstar TV airs weekdays 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. Of course, we expect the official welcome of the Megastar Sharon Cuneta into the Kapatid network, which will be given another bongga treatment sometime in March. New shows introduced were primetime classic teleserye remake Valiente and Davids Nandito Ako; the afternoon dramaseryes of a cat-like person in Felina and the tearjerker Isang Dakot na Luha; and the komikserye Kapitan Awesome. There are game shows galore this month, with Alex Gonzaga and Chris Tius Toink! Sino Ang Tama given a comic twist (Sundays, 11:30 a.m.); Biggest Game Show in the World Asia hosted by Richard Gomez and Joey de Leon where 30 Pinoys battle those from Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, among them, Mark Manicad, Alizon Andres, Linda Persson, Via Antonio, Cassie Umali and Lucky Mercado (Sundays, 9 p.m.); and in March, the first-ever noontime show Game N Go, hosted by Edu Manzano, Pretty Trizsa, Shalani, Arnell, Gelli plus Wendy Valdez and Tuesday Vargas. Reality shows will fill up the entire 2012 calendar starting with Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Philippines hosted by Paolo Bediones with Tessa and Divine Lee providing home renovations to the less fortunate within seven days; Dancing Nation (hosted by Lucy TorresGomez we hope this doesnt replace the original Talentadong Pinoy anymore); Kanta Pilipinas nationwide search for singers (hosted by the new TV5 Kapatid singers Lea Salonga); The Amazing Race Philippines; and Temptation Island: Dare to Win (hosted by the newest TV5 Kapatid stars Derek Ramsay) inspired by the 80s movie Temptation Island.
Finally, we have the News & Public Affairs continuous improvements on its already impressive line-up. We get our update from the super busy, super pogi Martin Andanar who has never failed to amaze us. From GMA, which he always acknowledges, Martin got his feet wet on radio and TV shows of Channel 5 and in 2004, he tied (for his work in The Big News) with Julius Babao (TV Patrol) for Best Male Newscaster. Today, he is known as the face of Aksyon TV News & General-Entertainment airing on UHF Channel 41; co-hosts Good Morning Club (formerly named Sapul sa Singko) where he hosts the new Tatay Kong Pogi Segment; hosts Tuesdays (Tuesdays, 8:00 to 8:30 p.m.), his original concept; is part of Insider (Fridays, 4:30 to 5:00 p.m., Thursdays, 11:30 p.m. to 12:00 midnight) reporting with rotating hosts from the field weekly. The international coverage brings such shows as Wil Time Big Time, Face to Face, Babaeng Hampaslupa, Juicy!, Talentadong Pinoy, Wow Mali, with many more to follow. Meanwhile, Aksyon TV International vows to bring Filipinos quality news, information and public service through its top-rated News5 programs. We look forward to the next launch!

NBC on radio
Edit
Edit
NBC's trailblazing efforts over the years had made it a major industry player - becoming the first network to go on 24-hour operations outside Metro Manila, opening the first FM stations in the Visayas and Mindanao regions and bridging the archipelago for the first time via satellite broadcast, NBC launched in the early 80's as the first radio satellite network in the Philippines,
and covers the live games of Philippine Amateur Basketball League and Philippine Basketball Association. In 1998, NBC became the only FM radio network in the Philippines with member-stations sporting names which represent their respective markets. DZAR was the first to launch in 1998 through its nationwide transmission. But in 2005, Pastor Apollo C. Quiboloy purchased all NBC AM stations and rebranded as Sonshine Radio. In 1973, DWFM was established as the first FM station during the Martial law era, MRS 92.3 is a music, ballad and pop-formatted FM station which based on most requested songs to listeners then turned into Joey@Rhythms 92.3 in 1998 and later 923 Joey enriched FM broadcasting and marketing from 1998 to 2007. Later on, xFM began on 8 April 2007 when 923 Joey was signed off on 4 April, just before Holy week. XFM contains ambient, chill, down-tempo, electronica, house, lounge, trip-hop and indie music on radio until its ground-breaking format in February 2008. In October 2009, the Manila, Cebu & Davao stations discontinued its Smooth AC format. The Manila station became U92, in partnership with All Youth Channels. It became the first CHRformatted station focuses on MTV Philippines broadcasting from a state-of-the-art studio at Silver City Mall, Frontera Verde Complex, Pasig City. The Cebu & Davao stations became WAV FM, in partnership with AudioWAV, a company known for producing radio-like playlists for well-known Philippine companies. The other provincial stations retained their format. Last September 30, 2010, U92 shut down following the dissolution of MTV Philippines in February. On October 1, 2010, NBC, in partnership with Associated Broadcasting Company/TV5, its affiliate, took over the management of 92.3 FM. Therefore as part of TV5's expansion, the station will become 92.3 News FM , the first news/talk station on FM band. Last November 8, it had its debut at 12:30am & its first day of broadcasting began at 4am. Since February 21, 2011, Radyo5 will also broadcast nationwide through its provincial relay stations on AM and FM.
NBC on television Edit
Nation Broadcasting Corporation (NBC-41) is a commercial UHF television station owned by First Pacific conglomerate headed by Manuel Pangilinan who is also the chairman of the telecommunications giant Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT). The name was unfamiliar to many Filipinos as they know it was just a regular radio station. NBC TV 41 used to be as MTV Philippines. MTV (abbreviation for Music Television) is a cable television network which was originally devoted to music videos, especially popular rock music. MTV later became an outlet for a variety of different material aimed at adolescents and young adults. After 6 years of partnership in the Philippines, MTV Channel 41 has been put off-the-air after a multi-year deal with All Youth Channel (AYC) following the dissolution of partnership with
NBC (MTV Philippines became a defunct channel since February 2010). It has been inactive until October 2010 when it began test broadcast as TV5 took over the blocktime of UHF Channel 41 which alternates TV5's programming and at this time, it was simulcasted with Radyo5 92.3 News FM for few months when it was debuted on November 8.[1] By the 1st quarter of 2011, TV5 will setup the first free-to air interactive-radio-on-TV type channel with a format similar to DZMM TeleRadyo and RHTV to broadcast after its initial simulcasting of 92.3 News FM if TV5 introduced this UHF channel. Also, it will initializing test broadcasts on various cable and satellite operators nationwide. On February 21, 2011, AksyonTV launched as TV5 introduced the new UHF channel. Even AksyonTV is also available on channel 29 in Cebu, Zamboanga, Cagayan De Oro and Davao, channel 44 in Bacolod, and on channel 34 in Baguio and Iloilo. It was launched last time at exactly 4am, airing its first program Andar ng Mga Balita hosted by Martin Andanar, which was actually a simulcast of the morning news program on News FM of the same title.

AksyonTV (English: Action TV) is a 24-hour non-stop news and general-entertainment channel in the Philippines. Owned and operated by Associated Broadcasting Company, it occupies the frequency previously used by MTV Philippines, a subsidiary of Nation Broadcasting Corporation. It carries newscast, news analysis, news talk radio, documentary talk shows, foreign entertainment, TV coverage, children animated, sports specials, religious shows, music videos, Foreign and Pinoy movies and sports news with special focus on Philippine current affairs. AksyonTV is available in most parts of the Philippines via its relay and affiliate stations, as well as cable, satellite and Internet. It is free-to-air for all viewers in Metropolitan Manila through local UHF channel 41 and UHF channel 29 for Cebu and Davao. It started broadcasting on February 21, 2011. AksyonTV studios are located at 762 Quirino Highway San Bartolome, Novaliches, Quezon City while its television transmitter is located at Antipolo City.[1][2] It was announced in early 2011 that it would launch an international channel to support AksyonTVs local presence. In July 2011, Pilipinas Global Network Ltd., a company owned by Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. and ABC Development Corp. based in British Virgin Islands will oversee the operation of AksyonTV International. The news channel will be primarily accessible to viewers in the Middle East, North Africa and some parts in Europe and North America.[3]
History
Edit
Originally, local UHF channel 41 was intended to broadcast local programming under the supervision of Nation Broadcasting Corporation. Sometime in 2000, MTV Networks Asia Pacific, operator of MTV (Music Television) brand in Asia wanted to transmit its music channel on terrestrial television in the Philippines. Eventually, MTV Networks Asia Pacific entered into an agreement with Nation Broadcasting Corporation to transmit its localize music channel via its UHF channel and started broadcasting MTV Philippines on January 1, 2000 until the partnership ended on February 15, 2007. On March 2, 2010 MediaQuest Holdings, Inc., a Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company subsidiary, Philippines largest telecommunication company, announced the acquisition of Associated Broadcasting Company, broadcaster of TV5. On October 1, 2010, through its flagship station, it took over the management of Nation Broadcasting Corporation and its radio and television businesses, particularly 92.3 News FM and UHF channel 41. Consequently, UHF channel 41 went on air and began its initial test broadcast of its radio station 92.3 News FM from 12:00 noon to 8:00 p.m. (Philippine Standard Time, UTC+8). In December 2010, Associated Broadcasting Company announced plans to launch its own news and sport-related channel. On February 21, 2011, AksyonTV started its commercial broadcast.
Controversy
Edit
On March 16, 2011 Associated Broadcasting Company (ABC) and Nation Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) filed a complaint to local regulator in the Philippines, the National Telecommunications Commission against SkyCable, one of ABS-CBN Corporation subsidiaries, broadcaster of ABS-CBN and TV5s competitor.[4] In its complaint, ABC and NBC criticized SkyCable for its inaction to the request of the latter and subsequently non-inclusion of AksyonTV to its lineup, despite local laws instructing all cable and satellite companies operating in the Philippines to carry all free-to-air networks. Under Memorandum Circular 4-08-88 (or otherwise known as the Must Carry Rule), all entities in the cable and satellite businesses are required to include all free-to-air channels on its system regardless of its capabilities. SkyCable on the other hand revoke its compliance to the order due to system capacity and will conform once an additional facility is in place.[5] On April 1, 2011, SkyCable announces the inclusion of AksyonTV on its channel lineup effective May 4, 2011 but made it earlier on April 30, four days from the planned May 4 launch. Recently, on July it was moved its channel assignment on SkyCable from channel 61 to channel 59.
Programming
Edit
AksyonTV is presented in English and Filipino languages. Programming is distributed equally between news coverage, entertainment news, sports related news, special coverage and talk shows. AksyonTV's programs comprises a combination of live news reports, documentaries and current affairs programming. Its existing lineup of programming draws upon TV5s own resources and its news partners.

DWFM is an all-news FM radio station in Quezon City, serving the overall Mega Manila market. The station is currently owned by the Nation Broadcasting Corporation, a subsidiary of PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund's broadcasting division MediaQuest Holdings. The station's allnews format is co-branded and operated as a sister to TV5 which MediaQuest Holdings acquired a majority stake of from Media Prima in 2010. The station's studio is located in Novaliches, Quezon City, while its transmitter is located in Antipolo City. DWFM is also simulcast via Kapatid TV5 and also has a television channel on SkyCable named TeleSingko where the studio and hosts of its programs can be seen by its listeners and viewers.
History
Edit
DWFM signed on in 1963 as Manila's third FM station, and the Nation Broadcasting Corporation's first FM station. DWFM began as "MRS 92.3 Most Requested Song", airing a format consisting of adult contemporary and easy listening music. DWFM quickly became the top-rated FM station in Manila, and held this title for most of its life. The success of DWFM led NBC to establish other FM stations using a similar format, including Cebu's DYNC in 1979, and Davao's DXFM.
NBC acquisition, format changes Edit
In 1998, NBC was acquired by MediaQuest Holdings, Inc., a broadcasting company owned by the PLDT's Beneficial Trust Fund. With the new ownership, DWFM's format would be changed in 1998 to become a smooth jazz station, Joey @ Rhythms 92.3 (later shortened in 2005 to just 923 Joey). As with the previous MRS format, the jazz format would also be implemented on all of NBN's other FM stations, who used other female names for their branding. DWFM's call letters were also changed to DZRU-FM for the period. In January 2007, DWFM received new management, led by radio executives Raymund Miranda and Al Torres, along with sales executive Amy Victa. After 9 years as Joey, DZRU was relaunched on April 8, 2007 returning the DWFM call letters, and dropping the smooth jazz format. The new format, 92.3 xFM, marketed as "The New Equation for Good Music", featured a format featuring a mixture of various forms of downtempo electronic music, including chill-out, electronica, house, and trip hop. Later in August 2007, xFM began to incorporate indie pop and easy listening music in to its playlistthe latter had been a staple of DWFM in its early days. However, these changes would lead to a retooling of DWFM in February 2008. The new XFM would be marketed as a "light music station"; returning to a smooth jazz driven lineup, but now also incorporating R&B and contemporary pop. At this point, DWFM was marketed as a "light" station On October 1, 2009, DWFM switched formats again, becoming the contemporary hit radio station U92. The new CHR format was also tightly cross-promoted with the television channel MTV Philippines (which had been broadcast by NBN's stations until mid-2007, when All Youth Channels took over the franchise and converted it to a cable-only service), talent was also shared between the two outlets.

As 92.3 News FM
On October 1, 2010, the operations of NBC's FM radio stations were officially assumed by TV5, which had recently become a new sister network for NBC after its acquisition of a majority stake by MediaQuest. DWFM would drop its CHR format to become part of a news/talk radio network co-branded with TV5, Radyo5 92.3 News FM, alongside other NBC radio stations. The move came as part of a plan to expand TV5's news operation in order to become more competitive with the other major networks, which also included the later launch of a news network on NBC's television stations, AksyonTV.[1][2] In 2011, Radyo5 won the KBP Golden Dove awards for the Best AM Radio Station. Also, in July 2011, Radyo5 became the first local news FM station to be made available in the World Wide Web with its inclusion in the TV5 website. All programs of the stations are broadcast live and can be enjoyed by all Filipinos around the world via Kapatid TV5 and AksyonTV International.
