Ling Wu, like the others, received a seed. He went home and planted it. Every day, he took care of it. Six months went by and there was still nothing in Ling Wu's pot. "Evetyone else would have frees and tall plants," he thought. He felt like a failure. However, he just kept waiting for his seed to grow. The day came and all the youths of the kingdom brought their plants to the palace. Ling Wu was reluctant to go with his ernpty pot. But his mother encouraged him to go and be honest
about what had happened. So, he went. When the ernperor arived, he saw the young people who brought beautiful plants, in all shapes and sizes. Then, the emperor spotted Ling Wu with his empty pot and asked him his name. Suddenly, he announced, "Behold your new ernperor! His name is Ling Wu!" Ling Wu was dumbfounded. How could this be? Then, the ernperor said, "l gave everyone a boiled seed to plant a year ago. A1l of you, except Ling Wq have brought me fees, plants and flowers.
