RC Holy Spirit PE Marcia Salvador completes 2012 Presidents-Elect Training Seminar

It has been a unique opportunity for learning and of dining, wining, singing, dancing, and sheer fun! inspiration as well as for expanding ones circle of Thanks to PP Sammy Pagdilao Jr for making Le Rotarian friends. RCHS meeting last week

The club held a robust regular meeting last March 14th. AG Rose Imperial joined us briefly for an update on the clubs nominations for district awards, and to bid farewell as she was then due to leave for Rome the next day. After the business agenda for the meeting had been covered, Club Trainer AG Linda Palattao walked the members through a Quiz-Bee contest as a means to impart knowledge of key events and personalities in Rotary history. Admin chair Ric then led club members through the short Cash Register Story as a means to gauge reading, comprehension and logical thinking, and reminded everyone about risks of jumping to conclusion.

Club Planning Session This years club planning session shall be held on April 14, 2012, a Saturday. The whole day event shall be held at the farm of DGN Francis & Rtn. Peth Rivera at Bgy. Sta. Rita, Guiginto, Bulacan. Please mark the date on your calendar. 7th Charter Anniversary of RC Holy Spirit

The 7th charter anniversary of our club shall be commemorated on June 29, 2012. The induction of incoming club officers for RY 2012-13 and the turn-over rite shall be timed with the anniversary celebration. Officers of the Rotaract Club and Interact Club of Holy Spirit shall likewise be inducted on the same occasion.

INVITATION TO A CHESS TOURNAMENT!

The Rotary Club of Holy Spirit invites all chess players of R.I. District 3780 to join the 1-day 1st Gov. Jess Cifra Chess Cup on March 31, 2012 (Saturday) from 8:00am to 5:00pm at the 4/F of the Rotary Center, Quezon City.
The tournament is open to all Rotarians and members of family, Associate Members, Interactors/Rotaractors. The tournament shall be under three (3) categories: Group I- Interactors/Rotaractors/Family Members Group II- Rotarians Group III- Club Team (combined scores of Groups I & II provided both belong to the same club.) Game shall be played under the 7-Round Swiss System with each player allowed 20 minutes to play. Each group shall have a Champion, 1st Runner-Up and 2nd Runner-Up. Registration fee is P300.00 which includes snacks (a.m. & p.m.) and lunch. Deadline for registration is March 24, 2012. Trophies for the winners shall be awarded and there will be lots of raffle prizes and surprises. 1st Asia Chess Grandmaster Eugene Torre will make the first ceremonial move with Gov. Jess Cifra.

Principles that Guide Rotary

The Object of Rotary
First formulated in 1910, the Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

The Four-Way Test

Of the things we think, say or do

Is it the TRUTH? Is it FAIR to all concerned? Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS? Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service; SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society; THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life; FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

I will always uphold the TRUTH. I am a Rotarian I will always strive to be FAIR in all of my dealings with my fellowmen. 5 Avenues of Service
Based on the Object of Rotary, the Five Avenues of Service are Rotarys philosophical cornerstone and the foundation on which club activity is based:

Club Service focuses on strengthening fellowship and ensuring the effective functioning of the club. Vocational Service encourages Rotarians to serve others through their vocations and to practice high ethical standards. Community Service covers the projects and activities the club undertakes to improve life in its community. International Service encompasses actions taken to expand Rotarys humanitarian reach around the globe and to promote world understanding & peace. New Generations Service recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults through leadership development activities, service projects, and exchange programs.
