CERTIFICATION OF EDUCATIONAL CERTIFICATES IN DUBAI The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dubai have recently advised that they will no longer accept any educational documents that have been certified by the Embassy. All documents will have to be returned to the UK. There are two procedures you can follow. The first is to get the document certified by the British Council in Dubai and then returned to the UK for further verification; the second is to start the process via a Notary in the UK. The procedures are as follows:

1. British Council (in Dubai) or Notary Public (in UK) British Council (in Dubai) The educational certificate should be taken to the British Council in Dubai. The British Council will verify that the educational institute exists and that the individual named on the certificate was awarded the qualification. The British Council are currently located in Bur Dubai and are open for notary services from, Sunday to Thursday from 9.00 am to 6.00 pm. Their address is:

British Council Tariq Bin Ziyad Road Next to Rashid Hospital P O Box 1636 Dubai UAE

Please call them on 800 225522 for further information.

For verification, the British Council will contact the relevant institution. A reply is usually received within five working days, although it may take longer.

The cost is AED120.00 per stamp (subject to change without notice). Please be aware that if the UK issuing institution requests a fee for verifying the document, this fee will be passed on to the customer. When the certificate has been verified an appointment will be made for you to come back to the British Council and you must bring along the original certificate and photographic ID. If somebody is bringing the certificate on your behalf, they need to bring a signed authorisation form from the certificate holder, the certificate holders original ID and a signed copy of a Terms and Conditions document. The authorisation form and the Terms and Conditions document will be given at the time of application. Notary Public (in the UK) Alternatively, you can send the certificate to a Notary Public (most solicitors offices in the UK offer this service). The cost of this service will depend upon the individual solicitors office.
