1. Opening Speech By The Head Of The English Language

The Head of The English Language Panel cum the chairperson, Mr. Muhammad Fakhrul Razi b. Abd Wahab began the meeting by welcoming the members to the meeting. He also expressed her gratitude to the members for their commitment and undivided support in contributing to a good achievement of English Language Panel in 2011. Towards the end of the welcoming address, she urged the panel members to continue to work harder and work together as a team, look into own weakness, find ways for professional development of the Teaching and Learning of English Language in the school.

2. Confirmation of the last minute.

The confirmation of the last minute was proposed by Mdm. Hyrull Ann bt Alwi and seconded by Mr. Kiprawi b. Hj Jelani.

3. Review of the language result of 2011

4. Activities for 2012

4.1 READING PROGRAM Reading program is to be continued. Mdm Hyrull Ann was assigned to prepare the booklet of reading record. Actions : All Year 1- Year 5 English language teachers ( to monitor students reading record and the reading activities itself ) The meeting also agreed to give away awards during an assembly as some of the students have already achieved Bronze, Silver and Gold awards. The names of those who have achieved the target will be pasted on the English Bulletin Board. Action : Mdm Hyrull Ann and Mr. Kiprawi b Hj Jelani are to give the list of those who have achieved the targeted number of book read to Mr. Muhammad Fakhrul Razi for further action. Mr. Muhammad Fakhrul Razi is also to prepare the trophies, medals and certificates.

4.2 Oral assessment The members decide to raise this matter during the coming curriculum meeting that 2-3 days be allocated in one semester for oral Assessment activities. During the period, all language teachers will focus on the oral activities as to fill in the SBOA form. Action : Mr. Muhammad Fakhrul Razi to voice it up

4.3 Yearly Scheme of Work The panel paln to standardized the format of the English Language Yearly Plan, so each teacher should make photocopies of the scheme of work and give it to Mr. Muhammad Fakhrul Razi to be typed and reproduced. Action : Mdm Hyrull Ann for Year 1, Mr. Muhammad Fakhrul Razi for Year 2, 3 & 5 and Mr. Kiprawi for Year 4 and 6.

4.4 Daily Scheme of Work Mr. Kiprawi suggested that each English Language teacher abide to the same format of Daily Plan as follows: a) Topic

b) Learning outcomes c) Activities d) Reflections

4.5 Bulletin Board All teacher should provide colourful and attractive learning materials Mr. Kiprawi for his deliberation. Action : All English Teachers

5. Arising Matters
5.1 Word List Mr. Kiprawi proposed that the panel have a compilation of word list for each Year ( Year 1- Year 6 ). This will be discussed further in the following meeting.

5.2 How to improve English Language acquisition among the pupils Beginning this year, all English Language teacher are to provide pupils with a simple and short topical test after every end of the each topic. The teacher is free to choose any format ( e.g objective / subjective / language games / oral ). As for recording purpose , the teacher must record the pupils scores/marks and compile the sample of the test paper together with the marking sheet. Action : To be done by all English teachers.

5.2.1Practise Simple Classroom Language All English teacher are to speak English Language with the pupils by speaking simple classroom language and make the language clear to the pupils by practicing it orally with them and provide them with printed visual aid such as pasting them on the classroom wall. E.g for teachers: Please pass up your book./ how are today? / please write neatly/ please keep quite. For students: how to spell violin, teacher?/ May I try, teacher? / Is it correct teacher ? / Please teacher, may I go out to the toilet ? / May I help you? 5.2.2 Learn From Each Other

As to enhance the quality of English knowledge teaching and deliverance, Mr. Kiprawi promoted peer-guidance among the members of the panel by encouraging them to approach each other for help if they face any teaching constraint.

6 Closing To end up, Mr. Muhammad Fakhrul Razi expressed his hope that everyone will strive towards making at least 80% of the planning for 2010 come to pass. He once again stressed on the need for working together as a team.
