HIGHLIGHT
Tuesday, April 10 6 9pm URBAN PLANET SYMPOSIUM The symposium Urban Planet: Emerging Ecologies reflects on the urgency to affect change in urbanization practices when confronted with the context of unviable territorial ecologies defined as spheres of sustainable interaction between humans and their environment. The guest speakers will shape an explicit understanding of different urban contexts examined via the lens of ecological viability and speculate open-ended alternative urban futures. Welcome remarks by Consul General of Switzerland in New York, Ambassador Franois Barras and by the Dean of the Irwin S. Chanin School of Architecture at the Cooper Union, Anthony Vidler. Speakers include Alfredo Brillembourg, ETH Zurich, Jean-Claude Bolay, EPFL Lausanne and Mitchell Joachim, Gallatin School of Individualized Study, NYU. Monday, April 23 IRNE JACOB MUSIC AND WORDS On the occasion of the US release of her first album Je sais nager, celebrated Swiss actress Irne Jacob will share with us her first steps as a singer through an evening of musical and literary enchantment. She will be accompanied by her brother Francis Jacob, a Brooklyn-based musician with whom she initiated a collaboration from Europe in 2007. MEANWHILE IN SWITZERLAND
GENEVA INTERNATIONAL PIANO FESTIVAL 2012 Swiss Global and its official orchestra, the Geneva International Orchestra, head to Geneva and Saint-Ursanne, Switzerland in August for a two-day series of concerts. The performances, featuring well-known concertos of Mozart and Mendelssohn, include two Swiss Global artists as soloists: Martina Filjak and Alexandra Conunova (pictured right).
