PROFESSIONAL SUPPORT COORDINATOR QUEENSLAND PRESENTS

PROFESSIONAL CONVERSATIONS
Diversity, Differences, Cultural Competence

NORTH QLD
What is a Professional Conversation? A Professional Conversation provides time, space and a framework for shared critical reflection. The Professional Conversations Diversity, Differences, Cultural Competence is a series of 5 conversations (1 Full Day and 4 half days) around ideas about identities, differences, and how cultural competence impacts on our practices with young children. Understandings around these important ideas will be built through a structured framework, designed to enable dialogue and the sharing of knowledge and experiences with other professionals. As participants engage critically with these particular aspects of ECEC, the group will work towards practice frameworks for leadership and teaching a curriculum that recognises and respects differences. Areas to be explored include; Reflecting on our own professional roles, articulating world views and practice frameworks Leading the development of curriculum that recognises diversity and cultural differences Considering perspectives around social and cultural contexts and how these shape identities Building our capacity to support educators in developing cultural competence. And the role of networks in enabling leadership and activism These conversations will also be an opportunity to build and strengthen networks with other professionals whose work calls for the recognition of and respect for diversity, and the development of cultural competence.
