YEAR OF GRACE
At the beginning of the third Christian millennium, Pope John Paul 11 called all Christians to discover ways to contemplate the face of Christ - in ourselves, our neighbours, our families & communities, schools & parishes, especially in the ones who are poor and at risk, and to start afresh in Christ. He challenged us to launch out into the deep waters of our society, learning anew how to follow Jesus in our time and place. This message has inspired and guided the Australian Catholic Bishops decision to call for a Year of Grace. The Pope outlined 3 steps in this challenge: Contemplatio - seeking the presence of Christ in every aspect of life. Communio - learning to live in deep communion with others - human and divine. Mission creating connections to share that experience of communion with others. The Year of Grace begins on Pentecost Sunday. Bishop Connors has appointed Fr Kevin Lenehan as the diocesan co-ordinator. Fr John Confirmation: The parents evening is Tuesday, 24th April at 7.00pm (Gathering Space). It is essential that at least one parent is present. The Sacrament will be celebrated on the 24th, 25th & 26th May. St Pius X Parish: 50th Anniversary Mass will be celebrated by Bishop Connors and Fr Michael on Sunday 22nd April at 11.00am in St Pius School. Following Mass there will be a shared picnic lunch. Christian Meditation: This workshop will teach participants an ancient practice of contemplative prayer exploring its Christian roots and showing how this prayer is helpful for those seeking a deeper experience of the Divine.
