lntroduction
This document explains Metasys Integrator York applications. Use this document with the Metasys Integrator technical bulletins in the Metasys Connectivity Technical Manual (FAN 629.5), which provide information on installing and commissioning the Metasys Integrator unit. For information on York equipment, see York documentation (obtainable from a York representative). Note: If you use a Universal Packaging Module (UPM) enclosure, you must install the Metasys Integrator 300 Series in a two high enclosure (EN-EWC25-0) rather than the one high enclosure (EN-EWC13-0) as shown in the figures in this application note. Application Details The Metasys Integrator unit allows York Millennium chillers and Sunline 3000 rooftop units to become an integral part of the Metasys and Metasys Companion Networks. Once York controllers are connected to Metasys or Companion Networks via the Metasys Integrator unit, their data is available to the full complement of Metasys Building Automation System (BAS) features, including Change-of-State (COS) monitoring, alarm notification, scheduling, trend, and totalization. The York YorkTalk Translator and YorkTalk XL are the interfaces between York chiller controllers and non-York devices (such as the Metasys Integrator unit). Each Metasys Integrator vendor port can connect to one YorkTalk Translator. Each YorkTalk Translator can connect to up to four York chiller controllers. If you use reciprocating chillers, the maximum number of pairs in master/slave configuration (C1/C3 or B1/B3) is two. If you use only master reciprocating chillers (C1 or B1), the maximum number of chillers allowed is four. Also, with a YorkTalk Translator interface, reciprocating chillers may not be mixed with other types of chillers due to a difference in baud rates. Each Metasys Integrator vendor port can connect to one YorkTalk XL, which can then connect to 32 York controllers. Figure 1 shows York and Metasys System integration. Figure 2 shows York and Metasys Companion integration.

Component Requirements
To integrate York equipment, you need the following components: properly installed York YorkTalk Translator (Revision 1A, firmware Revision 5.00 or above) or YorkTalk XL version and York chiller controllers Note: The Metasys Integrator unit supports only the U.S. version of the translator, which has two Advanced Processor Cards. Versions with only one Advanced Processor Card (such as the U.K. version) are not supported. RS-232 cable (for connecting the YorkTalk Translator or YorkTalk XL to the Metasys Integrator unit) Metasys Integrator unit N2 Bus (for connecting the Metasys Integrator unit to the Metasys or Companion Networks) portable Personal Computer (PC) for downloading vendor communication tables (.VCT files) and network setup information into the Metasys Integrator unit, and for running diagnostics cable for connecting portable PC to the Metasys Integrator unit the correct vendor communication table (.VCT file) to download into the Metasys Integrator unit (supplied on Metasys Integrator CD-ROM)
To integrate York equipment into the Metasys Network, you need: Metasys Operator Workstation (OWS) software Release 6.0 or higher Metasys Integrator software/firmware Release 8.0 or higher
To integrate York equipment into the Metasys Companion Network, you need: Metasys Companion Release 5.0 or higher Metasys Integrator software/firmware Release 8.0 or higher
Integration between the Metasys Integrator unit and York has been tested with the YorkTalk Translator (Part Number 371-01415-100, Revision 1A) or the YorkTalk XL (Part Number 371-01457-101, Revision 77). Changes to this equipment or integration of York products not discussed in this document will require additional software development and testing by Systems Products. For information on integrating other products, refer to the Custom Integration section in this document.

Design Considerations
When integrating York equipment, consider the following: Make sure all York equipment is set up and running properly before attempting to integrate with Metasys or Companion Network. (The York representative is responsible for operation of YorkTalk Translator, YorkTalk XL, and controllers.) Make sure the YorkTalk Translator or YorkTalk XL baud rate is set to 9600. (The York representative is responsible for setting the YorkTalk baud rate.) The York representative must configure the YorkTalk Translator or the YorkTalk XL to talk to the Metasys Integrator unit, provide passwords, and commission the chillers via YorkTalk. York must also configure the YorkTalk Translator and the YorkTalk XL to report BI statuses as Off and On. (The defaults in the Translator at this time are No and Yes.) The YorkTalk Translator or YorkTalk XL must be configured for: trm=4 (cr, prompt) txt=1 (field text) The YorkTalk Translator or the YorkTalk XL must have its logon password set to 1. Otherwise, the Metasys Integrator unit will not be able to bring it online. Make sure the YorkTalk Translator or YorkTalk XL table is defined as an N2 address so that the Metasys Integrator unit can establish the logon procedure. This will ensure the quickest recovery to online status of all York equipment.
IMPORTANT:
RS-232 cable distance between the Metasys Integrator unit and the YorkTalk Translator or YorkTalk XL can be a maximum of 50 feet. Cable distance between the YorkTalk Translator and the last controller can be a maximum of 5000 feet. The YorkTalk Translator does not provide offline notification when the chiller is disconnected from the Translator.
Metasys IntegratorMetasys Integrator York Application 7
IMPORTANT:
York must configure the YorkTalk XL failure output to report statuses as NOR, and FLT to allow the XL to report if the chiller is offline to the XL. Ensure battery backup is enabled to save baud rate settings on the YorkTalk Translator or YorkTalk XL. York chiller model names sometimes differ from the two character codes Johnson Controls uses (refer to Table 1). Table 1: Chiller Names

Custom Integration
For information on integrating products that are not discussed in this document, first refer to the Metasys Compatible Global Catalog, an online list of released Connectivity products. If this list does not provide the information you require, consider using the System Integration Project Data Sheet to request a custom contract from the System Integration Team. Both the Metasys Compatible Global Catalog and the System Integration Project Data Sheet can be accessed from The Advisor by performing the following steps: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Click on the Systems Products button located on the left side of The Advisor home page. Click on the Product Literature link. Click on the Manuals-FANS link. Click on the 629.0 Metasys Connectivity Sales Resource Manual link. Find the System Integration Project Data Sheet link in the table of contents. Click on this link to view an online copy of the System Integration Project Data Sheet, or click on the Metasys Compatible Global Catalog link below it to view a list of released Connectivity products.
The System Integration Project Data Sheet (LIT-6290052) also can be found in the Metasys Connectivity Sales Resource Manual (FAN 629). If you need further assistance, contact Johnson Controls Field Support Center.
