Introduction My school, Sekolah Kebangsaan Batu Tujuh is situated 7 miles from Tapah town.

99% of the students are Orang Asli .They seldom come to school. Therefore, various exciting activities to trigger pupils interest in learning and practising English such as the English Language programme had to be carried out. The English Language Programme usually held in the month of April. 2 reports of English Language Programme implemented in my school are story telling level 2 and Action Songs. Aims and objectives of programme. The first English Programme is Story Telling Competition. The Aims of the programme are to help improve the standard of English and to increase the effectiveness of learning among students. There are numbers of objectives of the programme. The objectives are to enhance pupils confidence in English. Pupils will practice the story repeatedly with their teacher and parents. This practises can also improve their listening and speaking skills. Pupils will speak clearly while other pupils will listen in order to understand the story. Story Telling can give pupils the opportunity to use English in an interesting, authentic and creative manner. Sometimes pupils are so talented that they can express anger, happiness, joy and sadness from the story and this will make the story more enjoyable. Pupils like to read but they seldom pick English story books. This activity surely will instill their interest in reading and writing in English. The activities were carried out from 7.45 a.m and ended at 10.45 a.m. Target group This Story Telling competition was open to all level two classes. Only one contestant would represent his/her class. Report on implementation of programme Batu Tujuh Primary School in the Batang Padang District with the cooperation of the Department of Orang Asli Affairs, Tapah held a story telling competition as part of the schools English week activities. There were 7 participants for this competition. Participants were to tell their stories based on the themes set by the Organising Committee. The themes were kindness, caring and responsibility. The teacher in charge was Cik Nurul Fareha Binti Rosli. The headmistress of Batu Tujuh Primary School, Puan Hajjah Noraishah Binti Yunan, in her speech said that the competition could increase the usage of English language among pupils. There were many talented pupils who presented their story creatively. The combination of gesture, pronunciations, intonations and stress had attracted the audience. The teachers and pupils gave full support to the participants. The champion for the story telling competition was Elda Susanti from 6 Dinamik while Mohammad Ezam of Year 4 Dinamik and Kasmanida of Year 5 won the second and third places. The winners received cash prizes, trophies and certificates presented by Mr Nordin Mie , The Senior JHEOA officer.

Strengths and weaknesses of programme The implementation of the story telling competition was a success. However, there were some strengths and weaknesess found when carrying this programme. This programme enable pupils to tell stories in front of many people and make them face their fear
and nervousness. When the listener follows a story, there is the possibility of getting the listener to invent a parallel story in the listeners own environment. It also helped pupils to aware of positive habits that strengthened their presentation and aware of their negative habits that weakend their presentation. Not many teachers had played their roles because the activities only involved English panel. The time allocated for training the pupils was insufficient as the teacher had to carry out their daily teaching too. Public Address system problems.

Suggestions and recommendations Self confidence is the key when you take on nervousness and hence some self motivation to boost your confidence levels would be the best treatment for nervousness. By organising this kind of programme more often, the pupils will get rid of the nervourness slowly. The English Language

Panel also like to have more co-operation from other language panel in order to make English Week more successful in the future. The duration of English week need to be extended more than a week. Therefore pupils have more time to practise and teacher in charge can spend more hour to guide them. The school administration must also take immediate action to replace the old school P.A system to a better one.
