Syaracuse Response 1. Who or what influenced you to apply to Syracuse University? I never considered Syracuse University until recently.

I kept hearing about the wonderful educational opportunities that SU offered and I was drawn to find out what the University was all about. I went on the website and read its mission statement. I was instantly drawn by its commitment to better the international community by educating responsible, knowledgeable, and devoted citizens. Syracuse University is heading in a direction that is innovative and visionary, a direction will take the university to the next-level and I would love to be a part of it. Consequently what influenced me to apply to SU is virtually what SU stands for, the opportunity to be part of something that is great. Involvement in the international community is something that I am interested in. We need to seek global rather than just national advancement. 2. Who is the person you dream of becoming and how do you believe Syracuse University can help you achieve this? As I think if what the person I dream to be, I envision myself as a successful doctor. However, I dont see my measure of success in how many cars I will own or how much money I will make; I see my measure of success as how many people I will help. In order to be the person I want to be there are several things I need to accomplish. SU will give me the tools I need to set a foundation of my personal goals and accomplishments. I

need to develop into a person who is hard-working, passionate, honest and committed to the community of the world. I want to be able to help people, as clich as it sounds. The most important and fulfilling aspect of the person who I dream to be will be the philanthropic work I do around the world. I believe that with the intent of SU to branch out and educate its global community it would give me endless opportunities to start this aspect in my life. This type of work does not only help those in need but it would help me develop as a human being and grow from my experiences, I would love to travel around the world and develop innovative cutting edge technology as well as donate my time educating and healing communities and at the same time growing and learning. Syracuse University intends to make a committed and generous citizen, exactly what I want to become.

3. If you have had work experience, what skills and/or knowledge did you gain? Tax Smart and Accounting Services LLC was founded by my mother in 2005. It is a small, successful accounting firm in Elizabeth, NJ. I have worked in this company for most of my high school career and have learned and gained many skills for which I am grateful. Three important lessons have stood out while working in this company: the key to success is education and experience, a good reputation comes with ambition and

heart, and opportunities come with knowledge and hard work. I dont think my mother would have this level of success in the business if she did not have the education and experience that she has amounted over the course of more than twenty years in the field. It has allowed me to see that in order to truly be successful in any field one must have a strong fundamental background and education, and it has motivated me to work hard to reach my educational goals. Tax Smart has monopolized the market by simply doing good work consistently. The ability that my mom has to help others with heart as well her ambition to learn is what brings clients through the doors. It shows me the public will respond to a person that is willing to help them with all the available resources. In my career I hope to devout every resource I have available to help better my community. Tax Smart has had many opportunities, not by chance but through hard work. Those who want to do business with the company know that it will be successful because of all the knowledge and hard work my mother puts into the business. If I work hard, I know that opportunities will present themselves to me. It is all of this that I have learned from working in Tax Smart and like I said before, it is something for which I am incredibly grateful. 4. Our mission of Scholarship in Action, education for the world in the world, extends beyond the classroom to include engagement opportunities with our campus community, the City of Syracuse, and locations across the globe. Based on your interests, tell us what real-world experiences you might pursue

during your education at Syracuse as part of this mission. It is clear that this institutions goal is to help develop American society into one that is prosperous, tolerant, diverse, and intellectually sound to solve the problems that not only America faces but problems that exist around the globe. I would love to be involved in the many opportunities that SU has to offer. Opportunities like engaging the public in debates that deal without socio-economic issues that America is facing, having input for the community may not only guide, but provide with unexpected solutions to real world issues that we face. Something else that interests me is educating the public on topics such as medical, social and economical advancements. This way the community will be up to date on the latest developments that are of interest to the University. Communicating with SU global community will help create a wide and smooth operation of research and development. I would love to participate in events that involve the global SU community. The opportunities that this institution gives to its student are unique and incredibly rewarding. I would take every opportunity SU has to give and use it to its outer boundaries.
