Based in Lomagna, in the heart of Lombardia, Alpina Raggi S.p.A. was founded in 1926 and focuses its activity on the production of spokes and nipples. The constant attention of Alpina guarantees the quality of its products through constant controls of raw material before and during its in house production, as well as a long standing collaboration with the Breda scientific Institute of Milan (www.isbreda.it) for specialized testing and consulting regarding to product quality. Alpina is certified with the UNI EN ISO 90001:2000 certification. The main production processes are planned to realize the best of our customer requests . For this reason our in-house production control activities assure an adequate quality to the customers specification. ADR
Technical patent ADR by ALPINA consists in a reinforced under head. This kind of volume increment guarantees an increased spoke resistance by about 20% compared to a classic, standard spoke. The strengthening of the under head spoke, is obtained by cold deformation during the production stage of the head press forging. The ADR ALPINA reinforce is available for straight head spokes and for bended spokes.

Single-butted spokes are thicker than normal at the hub end, then taper to a thinner section all the way to the threads. Single-butted spokes are not common, but are seen more and more in heavyduty applications (for example E-bikes) spokes are thicker at the ends than in the middle. Double-butted spokes do more than save weight. The thick ends make them as strong in the highly-stressed areas as straight-gauge spokes of the same thickness, but the thinner middle sections make the spokes effectively more elastic. AVAILABLe

NEWS

The patent Zero Head by ALPinA RAGGi is based on the modification of of the underhead angle of the spoke, near the conjunction area of the two tools that form the shape of the spoke head. Normally a standard head is formed with two little wings oppositely situated (180). This is the only touch point of the underhead surface in the hub. This characteristic prevents the correct positioning of the head in the hub and can stress the spoke in a way to provoke damages on the spoke or even break it. The intended purpose of our invention called Zero Head is to improve the resistance of the spoke near the head. Thanks to the technical innovation of our patent, the spoke is deformed near the burs that dont touch the hub. This solves the above mentioned problem and offers a lot of technical advantages.

The Alpina Super light is a lighter spoke, intended and produced from Alpina for the equipment of extra light wheels. Based on the 80 years experience of Alpina, mainly in the offroad ambience, the revolutionary SUPER LITE ULTRA spoke is produced in INOX PLUS TT, AISI 304, 302 ACI and C40 CARBON STEEL a material that has completely replaced the stainless steel for its characteristics of cost effectiveness and major resistance to impact and fatigue.

A new, revolutionary self-locking patented nipples that, thanks to the nylon hollow ball inserted on its head, eliminates entirely the possibility that spokes get loose on assembled wheels. Assembling routing between nipples and spokes remains absolutely alike to the traditional way and does not require special operations either for automatic assembling than for the hand-made one. Thread braking is guaranteed by the interference produced from spokes thread during its screwing and the hollow of nylon ball. It is possible to make subsequently all required adjustments on wheels without any special instructions and without using thread-braking liquids. Abs nipples bring tangible advantages on traditional wheels while their use is essential with straight head spokes.

The ALPinA ABx is an element used particularly together with carbon rims, where the nipple has to hide in the rim.

FREE lEAD
According to regulations issued by the Dutch RAI,based on the REACH directives (Registration, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals). Regulation CE No 1907/2006, the integrated European system of registration,evaluation, authorization and restriction of chemicals has issued a list of materials consIdered dangerous which should be replaced by 2012 with suitable materials in the production of bicycles and components, where there is an alternative technology to achieve this. This regulation will be adopted also by COLIBI and COLIPED Based on these rule changes a material such as lead, must be abolished and replaced with a substance not harmful to our health and the environment. This trend is also being pursued overseas, in the United States In fact The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has announced a reinforcement of the limited use of lead, in the already existing CPSC 2008 act, on bicycles and specific parts, especially for children under 12 years of age. This new restrictive legislation includes components such as tire valves, spokes and nipples, brake levers, etc. made of materials that contain a certain percentage of lead. The goal for the future will be to create products for children and kids with an always lower amount of lead which is hazardous to human health. Based on these current trends in Europe and outside Europe, Alpina Raggi offers a range of LEAD FREE nipples, made with an alloy of unleaded brass and processed through the use of SPECIAL TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT, suitable for the treatment of this material. The resistance and wear and tear of these nipples is even better than lead nipples, but of course, bear a significant benefit to health - for all humanity and especially for our children - and our planet, which will have less dangerous materials to dispose of.
