It loosens and washes away cellular debris such as bacteria, exudates, purulent material and residual topical agents from previous dressings.

If the dressing sticks to the wound get it wet and try again. Put the old dressing in a plastic bag and set it aside. Clean your hands again after you take off the old dressing. Caring for the wound Dip the gauze in antiseptic solution. Clean the wound place the gauze in the center of the wound and using an inner to outer motion to wipe the edges of the wound with the soaked gauze. Discard the used gauze into the trash puts the waste in one place for disposal. The inner to outer motion may be repeated until removing all wound debris. Next, use saline soaked gauze and do the same motion from the center of the wound to the edge. Saline gauze is used only once and then discarded in the trash. Put on the new dressing. Secure with adhesive tape. Wash hands Keep the dressing clean and dry. Always wash hands thoroughly with soap and water before and after touching or changing the dressing. Do not touch the wound unnecessarily.
