Training in production of BIO FERTILIZER. 3. Introduction to BIO PESTICIDES. This shall be tuned such a way that within three months of deciding crops according to mixed cropping pattern resource identification shall be easier for subsequent industrial activities. HNI has taken up the time bound programme to eradicate extreme poverty and hunger no excuse 2015 with the hand holding support of Participatory Technology Development practices of Micro-Enterprise Clusters in rural Bengal. We are working with the support of

world-class micro enterprise cluster development tools like: (1) CI (Cluster Identification) (2) PI (Product Identification) (3) IK (Indigenous Knowledge) (4) FO (Finance Opportunity) (5) AT (Appropriate Technology) (6) TQM (Total Quality Management) (7) IPR (Intellectual Property Rights) (8) SA (Sustainable Accounts System) (9) CM (Carpet Marketing) (10) ME (Monitoring & Evaluation) (11) SB (Social Brand) PRESENT AGRICULTURAL SCENARIO OF BASIRHAT 1, 24 PARGANAS (N) 1. Crop Husbandry As per the division of agro-climatic region made by the Planning Commission, Govt. of India and the district of north 24-Parganas falls within the new alluvial sub-region of the lower Gangetic plain (Zone III).The annual rainfall in this district is 1,579 mm. The type of soil varies from sandy to clayey loam and sandy loam being predominant. Like in other parts of West Bengal the main cultivators in the district are small and marginal farmers 2. Agro-climatic regional planning As desired by the Planning Commission, the agriculture department, Govt. of West Bengal has taken up the task to operate for the agro-climatic regional planning within a timeframe. The land in this district falls in the most fertile tract of the state with neutral soil. But though there is no major constraint on higher productivity, growing urbanisation and gradual conversion of land for nonagricultural purposes is a major threat to sustainable agriculture. 3. Seeds The availability of quality seeds in this district is a major problem faced by farmers. Most of the poor farmers cannot afford to buy certified seeds at very high prices which come from other states such as Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharastra & Orissa. Some of the hybrid seeds come from abroad also. To bridge the gap between supply & demand the government has adopted a scheme of subsidised sale of quality seeds. 4. Fertilizers Like seeds, fertilizers are also imported from other states. Farmers pay a high price for fertilizers though availability is major problem. The government provides a transport subsidy for carrying chemical fertilizers to inaccessible areas & provision is also made for subsidy on its price, so that small & marginal farmers of inaccessible areas can avail of this costliest input. 5. Plant Protection A sea change has come about in the protection of plants under the Integrated Pest Management Programme. Instead of prescribing use of chemical pesticides, control measures such as cultural, mechanical, varietals, biological & chemical have been given priority. The high dose of chemical pesticides has resulted in the resurgence of minor pests like Brown Plant Hopper in rice & secondary outbreaks of leaf roller, rice hispa, ear cutting caterpillars, stream borer & so on. 6. Crop productivity To increase the coverage & production of major crops a detailed strategy has been chalked out at the state level for different agroclimatic regions. Location-specific high yielding varieties are promoted by the government to increase crop production. Attempts are made to increase the kharif consumption of fertilizer in rice production as well as to bring about a more efficient use of fertilizers. 1-6 Govt. of India information.
