EXHIBIT B-1 MISCELLANEOUS ARCHITECTURAL METALS

Miscellaneous architectural metals, where utilized on this project, shall be in accordance with the following requirements. Contractor shall verify all measurements and shall take all field measurements necessary before fabrication. Welding to or on structural steel shall be in accordance with AWS Structural Welding Code. Tack welding shall not be permitted. Items specified to be galvanized shall be hot-dip processed after fabrication. Galvanizing shall be in accordance with ASTM A 123, Zinc (HotGalvanized) Coatings on Products Fabricated from Rolled, Pressed, and Forged Steel Shapes, Plates, Bars and Strip; A 386, Zinc Coating (Hot-Dip) on Assembled Steel Products; or A 525, Steel Sheet, Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) by Hot-Dip Process, General Requirements, as applicable. Exposed fastenings shall be compatible materials, shall generally match in color and finish, and shall harmonize with the material to which fastenings are applied. Materials and parts necessary to complete each item, even though such work is not definitely shown or specified, shall be included. Miscellaneous bolts and anchors, supports, braces, and connections necessary for completion of the miscellaneous metalwork shall be non corrosive type. The necessary rebates, lugs, and brackets shall be provided so that the work can be assembled in a neat and substantial manner. Holes for bolts and screws shall be drilled or punched and shall match holes of the same connection. Fastenings shall be concealed where practical. Thickness of metal and details of assembly and supports shall provide sufficient strength and stiffness. Materials shall conform to the requirements specified for the particular item; where these requirements are not specified in detail, the materials shall be suitable for the intended usage of the item.

Miscellaneous bolts, expansion shields, anchors, hangers, supports, braces, lugs, brackets, and connections necessary for fabrication and installation of the miscellaneous architectural metalwork shall be provided. All bolts, expansion shields, anchors, and fasteners in concrete or masonry shall be zinc coated. Gauges of ferrous metals specified herein are U.S. standard for sheet and plate. Gauges of nonferrous metals shall be AWG. Insofar as possible, work shall be shop fabricated and shop assembled, ready for erection. Work shall be fabricated in strict accordance with approved shop drawings. Holes for bolts, screws, and rivets shall be drilled or punched. Structural steel framing connections, parts, and accessories shall conform to the specifications of the AISC and requirements of the Structural Steel Specification. Jointing and intersection of metals shall be accurately made in true planes and tightly fitted. Contact surfaces of dissimilar metals shall be insulated from one another by such means and materials as will preclude galvanic corrosion.

Where dissimilar metals are in contact or where aluminum is in contact with concrete, mortar, masonry, wet or pressure-treated wood, or absorptive

materials subject to wetting, the surfaces shall be protected with a coat of bituminous paint conforming to Military Specification MIL-C-18480, Coating Compound, Bituminous, Solvent; Coal Tar Base or to Federal Specification TTV-51, Varnish; Asphalt, unless otherwise specified, to prevent galvanic or corrosive action. 1.3 Unless otherwise specified, aluminum items shall be in standard mill finish. When anodic coatings are specified hereinafter, the coatings shall conform to the AAP, Standards for Anodized Architectural Aluminum, with treatment to a coating thickness not less than that specified in the AAP, Designation System for Aluminum Finishes, for the protective and decorative type finish. Items to be anodized shall receive a polished-satin-finish pretreatment and a clear-lacquer over coating conforming to the AAP, Standards for Anodized Architectural Aluminum. Expansion shields: Federal Specification FF-S-325, Shield, Expansion; Nail Expansion; and Nail, Drive Screw (Devices, Anchoring, Masonry). Toggle Bolts: Federal Specification FF-B-588, Bolt Toggle; and Expansion Sleeve, Screw. Bolts and nuts shall be suitable for the use intended. Power-driven fasteners may be used only when approved in writing. Screws: Federal Specification FF-S-85, Screw, Cap, Slotted and Hexagon Head, FF-S-92, Screw, Machine: Slotted, Cross-Recessed or Hexagon Head, and FF-S-111, Screw, Wood; as best suited for the use intended. Washers: Federal Specification FF-W-84, Washers, Lock (spring) for lock washers. Flat washers shall be suitable for the use intended. 1.5 Aluminum thresholds, nonslip type shall be provided for steel hollow metal door frames. Floor grating shall conform to Federal Specification RR-G-661, Grating, Metal, Bar Type (Floor except for Naval Vessels). Edges of gratings shall be banded with bars 3 mm (1/8 in.) less in depth than the bearing bars. Frames of steel shapes and all-welded construction finished to match grating shall be provided as indicated. Frames shall be provided with welded-on anchors. Floor grating and frames shall be galvanized. Access doors shall be flush type unless otherwise specified herein. Frames for access doors shall be fabricated of not lighter than No. 16 gauge steel with welded joints and anchorage for securing into construction. Access doors shall be a minimum of 35 x 50 cm (14 x 20 in.) and of not lighter than No. 14 gauge steel, with stiffened edges and wetted attachments. Access doors shall be hinged to frame and provided with a flush-face turn-screw-operated latch. A removable access panel not less than 30 x 30 cm (12 x 12 in.) shall be installed directly below each valve, flow indicator, damper, or air splitter that is located above the ceiling, other than an acoustical ceiling, and that would otherwise not be accessible.

Threaded-type concrete inserts shall be galvanized ferrous castings, internally threaded to receive 1.9-cm (-in.) diameter machine bolts, made of either malleable iron coupling with ASTM A 47, Malleable Iron Castings; or cast steel complying with ASTM A 27, Mild to Medium Strength Carbon Steel Castings for General Application. Hot-dip galvanizing shall be in accordance with ASTM A153, Zinc Coating (Hot-Dip) on Iron and Steel Hardware. Wedge-type concrete inserts shall be galvanized box-type ferrous castings, designed to accept 1.9-cm (-in.) diameter machine bolts, made of either malleable iron complying with ASTM A 47, Malleable Iron Castings; or cast steel complying with ASTM A27, Mild to Medium Strength Carbon Steel Castings for General Application. Hot-dip galvanizing shall be in accordance with ASTM A153, Zinc Coating (Hot-Dip) on Iron and Steel Hardware. Provide carbon steel bolts having special wedge-shaped heads, nuts, washers, and shims. Slotted-type concrete inserts shall be 3-mm (1/8-in.)-thick pressed steel plate complying with ASTM A 283, Grade C, Low and Intermediate Tensile Strength Steel Plates of Structural Quality; box-type welded construction with slot designed to receive 1.9-cm (-in.)-diameter square head bolt and with knockout cover. Hot-dip galvanizing shall be in compliance with ASTM A 386, Zinc-Coating (Hot-Dip) on Assembled Steel Products. Curb edge bars shall be fabricated of structural steel shapes as shown, of all welded construction with mitered corners and continuously-welded joints. Provide anchors welded to curbs for embedding in concrete or masonry construction, spaced not more than 15 cm (6 in.) from corners and 60 cm (24 in.) off center. All curb edge bars shall be galvanized. Loose bearing plates shall be provided for steel items bearing on masonry or concrete construction, made flat, free from warps or twists, and of required thickness and bearing area. Drill plates to receive anchor bolts and for grouting as required. Loose steel lintels shall be structural steel shape lintels for openings and recesses in masonry walls and partitions as shown. Weld adjoining members together to form a single unit. Provide not less than 15-cm (6-in.) bearing at each side of openings. Shelf angles shall be structural steel of sizes shown for attachment to concrete framing. Slotted holes shall be provided to receive 1.9-cm (-in.) bolts, spaced not more than 15 cm (6 in.) from ends and not more than 60 cm (24 in.) off center. All shelf angles to be installed on exterior concrete framing shall be galvanized. Wheel guards shall be 1.9-cm (-in.) thick, hollow core, gray iron castings, of size and shape as may be required. Provide holes for countersunk anchor bolts and grouting. Wire mesh partitions, where required, shall be constructed of 10-gauge steel wire fabric woven into 4-cm (1 in.) diamond mesh, securely clinched to frames. Vertical frames shall be 3-x 1.6-cm (1 x 5/8-in.) cold-rolled "C" section channels with 6-mm (-in.) bolt holes 30 cm (12 in.) on centers. Horizontal

frame shall be 2.5-x 1.3-cm (1-x -in.) cold-rolled channels, all joints mortised and tenoned. Center reinforcing bar shall be 2.5-x 1.3-cm (1-x -in.) cold-rolled channel tenoned to side frames. All wires pass through center bar. Top capping bar shall be 5.7-x 2.5-cm (2-x 1-in.) cold-rolled channel with 6-mm (-in.) "J" bolts 71 cm (28 in.) on center. Corner posts shall be 3 x 3 cm (1 x 1-in.) angles with 6-mm (-in.) bolt holes to match partitions. Floor sockets shall be 6.4-cm (2-in.) high, cast, with set screw adjustment. Hinged door frames and doors shall be 3-x 1.3-cm (1 x -in.) channels with 3-cm x 3-mm (1 x 1/8in.) flat bar cover three sides, 3.5-cm x 1.9-cm x 3-mm (1-3/8-x x 1/8-in.) angle riveted to side lock. Each door shall have 1 pairs of bolt hinges riveted to both door and transom bar. Doors in wire mesh partitions shall have mortise-type cylinder lock operated by key outside and recessed knob inside. All locks shall be master-keyed with the other plant locks. Pairs of doors shall be furnished with cane bolts at head and sill. Manufacturer's standard bolts, hardware, and accessories shall be provided for a complete installation. 1.17 Safety nosings shall be cast aluminum with cross-hatched abrasive surface. Nosing shall be 7.6-cm (3-in.) wide and terminating not more than 15 cm (6 in.) from the ends of treads. Safety nosings shall be provided with integrally cast anchors for embedding into concrete and shall be flush with the top of the traffic surface. Expansion joint covers shall be constructed of steel angles and plates conforming to ASTM A 36, Standard Specifications for Structural Steel. Plates, backup angles, and anchors shall be designed as indicated. Floor plates shall have continuous backup angles on each side of the joint, and floor assembly shall be provided with continuous 1.3-cm (-in.)-thick steel plate filter strip. Plates shall be anchored at one side to fit securely on both sides of the expansion joint. Miscellaneous architectural metal items shall be packaged in a manner providing protection against damage during handling, transportation, and storage at site. Miscellaneous architectural metal items shall be stored at the site above the ground in a covered, dry location. Miscellaneous steel beams, angles, channels, and plates shall be provided with metal anchors. Checkered plate covers shall conform to Federal Specification QQ-F-461, Flat Back, Class 1, carbon steel, and shall be fastened to steel frame with stainless steel screws. Checkered plate covers for openings in floors shall be provided with lift handles or with two 2.5-cm (1-in.)-diameter-thick finger holes for lifting. Roof scuttles shall be single or double leaf type. Insulation for the cover and around the curb wall shall be 2.5-cm (1-in.)-thick fibrous glass, fully protected by aluminum. Miscellaneous metalwork shall be well formed to shape and size, with sharp lines and angles and true curves. Drilling and punching shall produce clean, true lines and surfaces. Welding shall be continuous along the entire area of

contact except where tack welding is permitted. Exposed connections of work in place shall not be tack welded. Exposed welds shall be ground smooth. Exposed surfaces of work in place shall have a smooth finish and, unless otherwise approved, exposed riveting shall be flush. Where tight fits are required, joints shall be milled to a close fit. Corner joints shall be coped or mitered, well formed, and in true alignment. Work shall be accurately fastened in place. 1.24 Thresholds shall be secured in place with 5-mm (3/16-in.) minimum diameter countersunk expansion bolts of nonferrous metal. Threshold ends shall be scribed to jambs. Floor gratings and frames shall be anchored to structural members with bolts, toggle bolts, or expansion shields and bolts. Anchor wheel guards to concrete or masonry construction shall be in compliance with manufacturer's instructions. Fill cores solidly with concrete. Wire mesh partition system shall be erected by skilled mechanics in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and approved vendor drawings. All required field bracing shall be furnished and installed by erector. Doors shall be installed plumb and true. Hardware shall be installed and tested for smooth operation.
