James is a solicitor specialising in Social Welfare Law, and has particular expertise in benefit issues and money advice. After securing an LLB and Diploma in Legal Practice from the University of Glasgow, James volunteered for Maryhill Citizens Advice Bureau before moving to Castlemilk Law and Money Advice Centre in 2006. James wants to bring his long experience of frontline advice work to the role of City Councillor, and believes that better decisions will be taken about services by those who have experience of providing them. James lived in Partick before moving to his current address in Whiteinch so is well aware of the issues affecting Partick West. James has been a longstanding campaigner and previously stood as a Liberal Democrat candidate in both Garscadden and Scotstounhill and Knightswood Park. Away from politics, James enjoys mountaineering and has climbed all of Scotlands 283 Munros. James is a Partick Thistle season ticket holder and a member of Friends of Victoria Park.

The SNPs bus cuts - exposed!

The residents of Glasgow have been left stunned by the news that Glasgows bus operators have been forced to shut down dozens of bus routes because the SNP Government have cut their subsidies. Local Liberal Democrat campainger James Paris, has slammed the decision as appalling and has launched a campaign to reverse the SNP Governments decision. A huge 20% cut to the Bus Operators grant has been passed down by the SNP Government in Holyrood, just months after they attempted to close dozens of urban stations in Glasgow in an attempt to save money. The cuts will lead to some lifeline services being cut entirely and many others severely curtailed. Commenting on the SNPs brutal cuts to the bus operators grant, local Liberal Democrat Campaigner James Paris said This just shows once again that the SNP talk a good game, yet when it comes to actually delivering, they let Glasgow down.
