Chapter 1: Explanation of ISLAM, IMAN and IHSAN

THE HADEETH OF JIBRIL


NAME:
PART ONE: ISLAM Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said:

One day while we were sitting with the Prophet Muhammad (sallahu alayhi wasalm), there came a man whose clothes was very white, whose hair was very black and no-one knew who he was.

He walked up and sat down by the Prophet (sallahlahu alayhi wasalm) putting his knees against his and placing the palms of his hands on his thighs and then the man said: O Muhammad tell me about ISLAM .

There are FIVE PILLARS of ISLAM:

THE FIRST PILLAR IS: SHAHAADAH


To say: ASH-HADU AN LA ILAHA ILLALLAHU, WA ASH-HADU ANNA MUHAMMADAN RASULULLLAH To believe that there is no god worthy of worship except ALLAH and that Muhammad (sallahlahu alayhi wasalm) is the MESSENGER OF ALLAH.

THE SECOND PILLAR IS: SALAH


As Muslims we pray FIVE times a day.

THE THIRD PILLAR IS: ZAKAH


To give money to those who are in need and al-Miskeen who are the poor people. They are people who DO NOT HAVE; food, drink, a home or a bed to sleep on. So, as Muslims we should help one another and give charity, so we can please ALLAH. When you help people, ALLAH is very happy and pleased, and you are becoming a better person, but we must do it to please ALLAH ALONE and NO-ONE ELSE! If you help the poor, ALLAH will HELP YOU

GROUP DISCUSSION: Question 1: What does being GRATEFUL mean? Question 2: How do we show Allah that as Muslims we are THANKFUL? Question 3: What are the different ways of giving CHARITY? Question 4: What changes are we going to make to show that we are GOOD Muslims?

In describing the good people, Allah says in the Quran:

"They give food, out of love for Him (Allah), to the poor, the orphan, and the slave, saying: We feed you only for Allah's pleasure - we desire from you neither reward nor thanks." (SURAH AL-INSAN 76:8-9)

'Who is he that will loan to Allah a beautiful loan which Allah will double unto his credit and multiply it many times?' (SURAH AL-BAQARAH 2: 245).

THE FOURTH PILLAR IS: SAWM


` Sawm is to FAST in the month of RAMADHAN.`

The month of Ramadhan is when the QURAN was revealed and ALLAH ordered the Muslims to fast in Ramadhan. Fasting is to not EAT or DRINK from FAJR time until MAGHRIB time.

Muslims should be GOOD Kind and Obedient to PARENTS, Reading lots of Quran, praying Salah, helping people, being nice to one another, sharing, loving, being generous and respecting the ELDERLY. ALL THIS IS TO PLEASE AND OBEY ALLAH-ALONE

THE FIFTH PILLAR IS: HAJJ (PILGRIMAGE)

To visit the house of ALLAH - the KABA if one is able to do so and can afford it. It is a special time and it is something that every Muslim should do ONCE in a life time. It is a chance for the believer to be forgiven and come out as a new-born; with no sins.

PART TWO: IMAN

The Man said: O Muhammad tell me about Islam He Muhammad (sallalahu alayhi wasalam) said: Islam is to believe that there is NO god worthy of worship except Allah and that Muhammad is the messenger of Allah. To perform the PRAYERS, pay the ZAKAH, to fast in RAMADHAN and to make HAJJ if you are able to do so.

The man then said to the Prophet (sallalahu alayhi wasalam) You have spoken rightfully Then Umar and the Companions (May Allah be pleased with them all) were shocked and amazed because the man asked the question and then said you have spoken rightfully. Then the Man said: O Muhammad tell me about IMAAN

There are SIX PILLARS of IMAAN:

THE FIRST PILLAR IS: TO BELIEVE IN ALLAH

Allah is our creator, provider and cherisher ALLAH is the Lord that we Worship and him alone we ask for HELP. ALLAH is the Most Merciful and Most Kind. ALLAH is Lord of the Heavens and Earth. We ask ALLAH to guide us to the Straight path and to give us and our families JANNAH and to save us from JAHANNAM, or the hell fire. ALLAH LOVES THOSE WHO ARE OBEDIENT TO HIM, WORSHIP HIM, LOVE HIM AND FOLLOW THE MESSENGER OF ALLAH (sallalahu alayhi wasalam)

Group Discussion:
Question 1: Who Created YOU? Question 2: Who created your Parents, friends, brothers and sisters? Question 3: When we are in trouble, sick or need help, who do we ask for help? Question 4: How do we earn the LOVE of ALLAH?

Question 4: How do we earn the LOVE of ALLAH?

THE SECOND PILLAR IS: TO BELIEVE IN THE ANGELS

Angels are created from LIGHT and they WORSHIP ALLAH The Angels obey Allah and never disobey him. Some Angels have specific tasks: Angel JIBRIL sent down the REVELATION, the Quran Angel MIKAIL delivers the RAIN, WIND and vegetation. Angel ISRAFIL will blow the trumpet on the day of Judgement

Angels KIRAMAN and KATIBEEN are the angels on the right and left shoulder, the angel on the right, writes down all the good things that you say and the angel on the left writes down all the bad things that you say. That is why it is so important we say good things all the time and praise ALLAH.

GROUP DISCUSSION: Question 1: What is the difference between Angels and Mankind? Question 2: What are the ways we can praise Allah Question 3: Are we going to say good things only, so the angels on the right can write it down? If yes, give examples of good things?

THE THIRD PILLAR IS: TO BELIEVE IN HIS BOOKS


ALLAH revealed certain Books to his Messengers. ALLAH revealed the QURAN to Muhammad (sallahu alayhi wasalam), the Quran is the SPEECH OF ALLAH and a guide for Muslims to follow.

We accept everything that the Quran says, to be complete TRUTH and we SUBMIT to its rulings and commands.

ALLAH revealed the TAWRAH to MUSA (alayhi salam) ALLAH revealed the INJEEL to IESA (alayhi salam) ALLAH revealed the ZABUR to DAWUD (alayhi salam)

GROUP DISCUSSION: Question 1: How many times a day do we read the Quran? Question 2: What is the importance of the Quran? Question 3: Are we going to make an effort in reading the Quran more?

THE FOURTH PILLAR IS: TO BELIEVE IN HIS MEESENGERS

ALLAH sent Messengers and prophets to each nation, calling the people to WORSHIP ALLAH and not make partners with ALLAH. The LAST messenger was MUHAMMED (salalahu alayhi wasalam). There were many Prophets and Messengers sent before Muhammad (sallahu alayhi wasalam), some of them were:
NUH IBRAHIM IESA MUSA ZAKARIYYAH YAQOOB DAWUD SULEIMAN

Muhammad (sallalahu alayhi wasalm) was sent to the whole of Mankind and we follow him, as an example. Everything he does, we should copy and everything he said to stay away from, then we obey him and stay away from those things.
OBEY ALLAH AND OBEY HIS MESSENGER MUHAMMED (sallahu alayhi wasalam) GROUP DISCUSSION: Question 1: How do we show our love for the Prophet Muhammad (sallahu alayhi wasalam)? Question 2: Name some examples that Muhammad (sallahu alayhi wasalam) came with, so we can follow him?

THE FIFTH PILLAR IS: TO BELIEVE IN THE LAST DAY


The Last day is the day where the world will come to an end and after we all die, Allah will bring us back to life and we will all be held accountable. The Day of JUDGEMENT is the day, where we will all stand in front of Allah and we will be judged on everything we did in this life. If you have done good deeds, you shall see it and if you have done bad deeds, you shall see it and NOTHING is hidden from Allah. The believer, who does GOOD DEEDS, believes in the ONENESS (TAWHEED) of Allah and Allah shows MERCY upon them, then they will enter into JANNAH.

THE SIXTH PILLAR IS: TO BELIVE IN ALQADAR (THE GOOD AND ITS BAD)
To believe in truth, that EVERYTHING that happens in life, every Good and Bad - that happens, it is already written down in the BOOK OF DECREES (AL-LAWH AL-MAHFUZ). It was already written down before we were born and came into existence. Everything that happens in life is decreed and meant to happen and Allah knows everything, He is AL-ALIM the ALL-KNOWER. Everything Good that happens is from ALLAH and everything Bad that happens, is due to our own actions.

TASK ELEVEN: Colour these beautiful flowers, as you are a beautiful Muslim girl, MAA-SHAA-ALLAAH TABAARAKALLAAH which means: As ALLAH wills, blessed is ALLAH.

PART THREE: IHSAAN The Man said: O Muhammad tell me about Iman He Muhammad (sallalahu alayhi wasalam) said: Imaan is to believe in ALLAH, his ANGELS, his BOOKS, his MESSENGERS, the LAST DAY and to believe in AL QADR, its good and bad.

The man then said to the Prophet (sallalahu alayhi wasalam) You have spoken rightfully Then the Man said: O Muhammad tell me about IHSAN

HE MUHAMMAD (Sallahu alayhi wasalam) said:

TASK TWELVE: Who do we LOVE? Colour the heart

IHSAN IS TO WORSHIP ALLAH, AS THOUGH YOU ARE SEEING HIM. WHILE YOU SEE HIM NOT, YET TRULY HE SEES YOU.

PART FOUR: THE HOUR AND ITS SIGNS The Man said: O Muhammad tell me about the Hour (the day of judgment)

He Muhammad (sallalahu alayhi wasalam) said: The one questioned about it, knows NO better than the questioner (meaning he does NOT know the answer, the knowledge is only with ALLAH)

The man then said to the Prophet (sallalahu alayhi wasalam): Then tell me about its signs

PART FIVE: ANGEL JIBRIL He Muhammad (sallahu alayhi wasalam) said: That the slave will give birth to her mistress and that you will see the barefooted, destitute herdsmen, competing in the making of lofty, tall buildings.

Then the man STOOD UP and went. And I Umar stayed for a while.

Then the Prophet (sallalahu alayhi wasalam): Oh Umar, do you know who the questioner was? I said: ALLAH and his Messenger knows best He Muhammad (sallalahu alayhi wasalam): IT WAS ANGEL JIBRIL WHO CAME TO YOU, TO TEACH YOU YOUR RELIGION. (Narrated by Muslim)

TASK FIFTEEN: ALLAH has blessed us with rain and through the use of rain, fruits grow and we are able to eat and enjoy them.
