Guidance Department SENIORS! Please contact your guidance counselor about what college you have been accepted to for 2011-2012 school year. We are gathering data and also want to put your star on the guidance windows!!!! The Senior Timeline states: Up to this point (April), you should: 1. have applied to college and been accepted; 2. have applied to Bright Futures and heard eligibility status; 3. retake the SAT/ACT for Bright Future eligibility; 3. have applied for the FAFSA and received the SAR report; 3. apply for scholarships and be receiving them. ITS YOUR LAST CHANCE TO QUALIFY FOR BRIGHT FUTURES OR POST SECONDARY COLLEGE READINESS!!! The remaining dates are as follows: American College Test (ACT) www.act.org Date Registration late Regis. June 9,2012 May 4, 2012 May 5-8, 2012 SAT I & II www.collegeboard.com Date Registration late Regis. May 5, 2012 April 6, 2012 April 20, 2012 June 2,2012 May 8,2012 May 22, 2012 BELOW are scholarships that are STILL AVAILABLE for you to apply to: April 2012 Beaches Business Association Scholarship Fund is awarding two scholarships. Each scholarship is worth $1,000 each. The criteria is as follows: you must be a graduate of Fletcher H.S., plan to attend a college/ university or trade school in Duval county and plan to major in business. Two letters of recommendation and a 200 word essay are required. Deadline: April 19, 2012. Beaches Educational Foundation, Inc. Scholarship is offering scholarships to graduating seniors who can show financial need, merit and the ability to be successful in a post-secondary course of study. Deadline: May 11, 2012. The Jane Conselice Science Scholarship is awarding 4 scholarships to students who are Fletcher High School graduates, accepted to a college, and planning to major in a science. Seniors must submit a letter of acceptance, two letters of recommendation and a transcript along with the completed application. Deadline: May 16, 2012. Jacksonville Commitment Scholarship is awarded to students with financial need who are accepted and planning to attend one of four local colleges or universities: JU, UNF, Edward Waters or Florida State College at Jacksonville. Students will receive full tuition. To be eligible you must be on free or reduced lunch or live in HUD housing or Habijax housing. Pick up an application in guidance. Scholarships are available until monies run out.

ILA Local 1408 Scholarship is awarding scholarships to seniors and college freshman with a 3.0 or better gpa. You must demonstrate a financial aid and enclose a transcript, essay and community service vita. Deadline: May 31, 2012. NNOA Memorial Scholarships are for seniors attending either a 2 or 4 year institutions. An essay and three letters of recommendation required. Applications can be picked up from Guidance. PFLAG Scholarship is offering scholarships intended to provide recognition and affirmation to outstanding lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) persons in the Jacksonville metropolitan area (Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns Counties) and to aid them in their pursuit of post-secondary education. It is PFLAGs aim through these awards to foster in our community and throughout our culture a more positive image of LGBT persons. Application can be picked up in Guidance. Mail a completed application form and supporting documentation, including an official or unofficial high school transcript on or before June 1, 2012. The following scholarships are open to JUNIORS only: Navy ROTC Scholarship is worth $180,000. It awards you a full tuition free scholarship to a major university. Visit https://www.nrotc.navy.mil for more up to date information. Give Kids A Chance is a charitable organization awarding scholarships to eligible JUNIORS. Go to www.gkac.org for the grant application. Deadline: April 30, 2012.
