EEO # LA 13-11 Instructor, Organizational Communication The Instructor will teach a Monday mass-lecture component of the departments introductory speech course. The instructor also coordinates the Wednesday-Friday teaching of ten graduate assistants for this course. The Instructor also teaches online sections of CMCN 200 for special online degree programs. Apart from teaching the introductory speech course, the Instructor will teach a variety of interpersonal or organizational communication courses. The Instructor may have administrative responsibility for the departments speech and debate team. Depending on the applicants background and interests, this may entail teaching debate and coaching the team, or simply coordinating team travel and supervising graduate assistant debate coaches. Student advising and departmental/university service is expected. Research is not expected and tenure is not offered. The 10-month instructor contract requires a four-course teaching load per semester. Summer courses are available for additional pay. Applicants should have at least a masters degree from an accredited university. Teaching excellence in oral communication is the primary criterion for this position. Excellence can be demonstrated both in teaching evaluations and in production of course teaching materials and lessons. Experience in online course design and delivery is a strong plus. Experience in assessment of learning outcomes in oral communication is also highly desirable, as CMCN 200 is a key component of the Universitys general education offerings. Proven ability to work collegially with graduate teaching assistants and debate graduate assistants is a strong plus for the position. The department offers a master's degree as well as undergraduate degrees in journalism, advertising, public relations, broadcasting, and organizational communication. The university is accredited by SACS and is the second-largest university in Louisiana. Commensurate with experience and qualifications. The position starts in August 2012.
