svideo YC yc Y/C y/c H ow d o I conne ct S-Vid e o ha rd ware to Intensity P ro? Intensity Pro supports S-Video via RCA connectors. Connection to S-Video hardware is easily achieved using an inexpensive (US$7 to $25) S-Video breakout cable, but expect to pay around US$45 for cables that allow you to run S-video over long distances of over 50 feet or 16 meters. If you want to both capture and output via S-video connections, then you will need two of these cables. They are commonly available and manufactured by numerous companies including those listed below: B&H SonicWave (Impact Acoustics) S-video breakout cables have an S-video connector at one end and two RCA connections at the other end. One of the RCA connectors is usually yellow or red in color and the other one is always white in color. The white connector is the color (chrominance) connector and is often referred to as the "C" connection. The colored (yellow or red) connector is the luminance (intensity) connector and is often referred to as the "Y" connection. That is why you will often see S-video expressed as YC or Y/C Y/C. To connect your Intensity Pro card to S-video hardware:

1. Install the version 1.5 or newer drivers for Intensity. 2. Take an S-video breakout cable and connect the S-video connector to the S-video hardware. 3. At the other end of the S-video cable, you will find the two RCA connectors. 4. When connecting to the S-video input of Intensity Pro, connect the colored "Y" connector to the green connector of the Intensity Pro cable. Connect the white "C" connector to the blue cable of the Intensity Pro card. 5. When connecting to the S-video output of Intensity Pro, connect the colored "Y" connector to the blue connector of the Intensity Pro cable. Connect the white "C" connector to the red cable of the Intensity Pro card. 6. Go to the Intensity system preferences or control panel and set the Video connections for input and/or output to "S-video". 7. Sometimes you will want to capture from an S-video device but output to a component analog monitor. If that is the case, your input and output video connections should be set to S-video and component ("Y, B-Y, R-Y") respectively.
