Install your system

To install your watering system, unroll the tubing and let it unkink in the sun. Following your system plan, lay out the tubing and other components near where theyll be used. Make sure you t a backow valve to all taps youll be using on the watering system - these are compulsory in some states. This should stop contaminated water from owing into your household irrigation pipes. Areas with high water pressure may require a pressure reducing valve. Once you have nished, make sure you ush the system to remove debris which could block the ow of water. Once ushed, attach the stopper to the end of the tube. Connect your tap timer to the tap then connect it to the driptube, then set the program.Your system will now operate automatically.

Saving water
A dripper system, if properly installed, can use a fraction of water than sprinklers that produce a ne spray. Having the water drip directly onto the plant roots in the garden bed and shrubberies reduces the effect of water wastage due to wind and overspray. These systems are low cost, easy to install and easy to use.

Step out your garden

You need to determine how much tubing is required by drawing an outline of your garden including features such as your house, taps and what plants are where.

Automation
There is a wide variety of timers you can choose from a 2 hour timer to a fully automatic LCD electronic timer.

NOTE Early morning watering and covering your system with mulch is recommended to reduce evaporation. It is a good idea to clean out and check your system as drippers can become blocked. At least once a year, unseal the end of the system and ush it through.
