Introduction

The prosperity of a country depends upon its economic activities and banking sector plays a vital role here. So banking as a profession has achieved huge popularity all over the world. The same concern immensely appeals me as well. By the grace of Almighty Allah I have been assigned to prepare an internship paper on Islamic Banking in Bangladesh, A Case Study on Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited. - a very promising Islamic bank of Bangladesh. I went through various functions and activities of the bank with an analytical point of view during the three months of my internship and witnessed the dynamicity of their style. This inspired and helped me a lot to furnish my internship report with a great deal of enthusiasm. Origin of the Report Each degree needs practical knowledge of the respective field of discipline to be fruitful. Our BBA program also has an internship program, relating to the exchange of theoretical knowledge into the real life practical situation. The report entitled Islamic Banking in Bangladesh, A Case Study on Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited originated from the partial fulfillment of the internship program. The main purpose of the preparation of the report is due to the partial fulfillment of the internship program period of the BBA Program conducted by the Department of Business Administration, Leading University, Sylhet, Bangladesh. During the internship program, I was under the supervision and guidance of Mostafizur Rahman, Lecturer, Department of Business Administration, Leading University, Sylhet, Bangladesh.

Objective of the Study The objective of the report can be categorized into main objective and specific objectives. 01. The main objective: To gather practical experience and know about Islamic banking system in Bangladesh. 02. Specific Objectives To become acquainted with the functions and services provided by the organization. To knows their marketing strategies for serving in the competition. To know about the problem and barriers they are facing in the way of doing banking functions. To be familiar with their training and development programs. To develop the report writing skill.

Scope of the report


The study is about Islamic Banking System in Bangladesh. But I had the opportunity to work in Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited, Zindabazar branch a particular Islamic bank. I tried to focus on the Islamic system of this branch as well as central policies of the bank.

Methodology of data collection Both the Primary and Secondary sources have been used to collect data for the internship report. Collection of primary data: I have collected many of the data and information from my practical experience and queries from the officers while doing my internship at AlArafah Islami Bank Limited. Information and data regarding products & services, interest rates & charges, banking operations, organization structure, management personnel and policies were collected from this source.

Collection of secondary data: Data regarding the operations of Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited and analysis of financial statement were collected from secondary sources like annual report, bank profile brochures, manuals and publications of Al_Arafah Islami Bank Limited.

Limitation of the report The duration was only twelve weeks. It was too limited to cover all the banking area. Many aspects could not be discussed in the present study. The collection of primary data only from Al-Arafah Islami Bank Limited Zindabazar Branch, Sylhet. I could not collect sufficient information about the Al-Arafah Islami Bank. Due to the banks policy of maintaining secrecy and also because I did not get the opportunity in all the departments.
