Knowledge and understanding of the world (including RE, geography, history, DT) Geography/RE Chn use online and

d offline resources to research information on a given country. They learn to locate a range of countries on a globe/world map, and learn to use maps to show information in different ways e.g. temperature, location, landscape, food etc. They learn to write information texts and then use Google Maps to share information with others, by adding text to a map of their chosen country. These maps are then shared using the MLE/class blog. DT Chn create a pop-up leaflet for their persuasive writing on why people should visit London. They think carefully about the best pop-up feature to use and explain their ideas. They use trial and error to develop their leaflets for presentation. Chn use recycled materials to make flags and add information about their country to create bunting for the classroom.

Personal, social and emotional development (including PSHME, emotional lit, citizenship) Twice weekly circle times to address social skills/ playtime games and listening activities. Focussing on: anger management, feelings, friendship.

Physical Development Athletics learning the skills of sprinting, javelin, shotput, relay, long jump, triple jump. Chn are able to develop and improve their performances through practice. Swimming- once per week

Mathematical development Block E2 Finding fractions of numbers, shapes and quantities; recognise the equivalence between decimal and fraction forms of one half, quarters, tenths and hundredths Block A3 - Position one- and two-place decimals on a number line; use written methods to record and explain multiplication and division of two-digit numbers by a onedigit number, including division with remainders; solve one and two-step problems involving money and measures.

Communication, language and literacy (including talking/ speaking & listening, writing, reading, spelling, handwriting, drama and links to other areas) 1) Stories from Other Cultures (3 weeks) Using Tales of Wisdom and Wonder, chn explore stories from different cultures. They look at the structure of short stories and compare cultures and people. They take a character from one culture and explore putting them into a different story. How would the character react? Chn write their own short story from a culture of their choice for a Creative Writing exhibition in the partnership. 2) Information/Persuasive writing (4 weeks) Chn explore information leaflets and tourist brochures. They learn persuasive language and the layout of leaflets and posters. In Geography, they create information texts about different countries using Google Maps. In Literacy, they create a leaflet entitled: Why come to London? Using photographs theyve taken from Greenwich they describe a favourite part of London to a tourist. Science Friction ICT

The Olympics
Year 4 - Summer 1

Control - Using an online program, Scratch, to create computer games. Link to topic creating a computer game with monsters that catch/eat other animals/creatures (Link to Anglo-Saxon story Beowulf set in Scandinavia). Photography Chn take photos using tablets and use a PicsArt app to edit photos. They change the colours in the photos to create different atmospheres, and choose a favourite for display. Chn explain the choices they have made. Google Maps Chn use Google Maps to share information with others.

Creative Development (Art, Dance, Music) Art Photography project: My London is Chn take photos of parts of their local area which express what they think of the area. They use the tablets and PicsArt app to add any effects. They then write a sentence to describe their photo starting with My London is. The sentences will be turned into a whole class poem. The collage of photos + poem will be displayed in the partnerships exhibition. Chn learn to measure force using forcemeters, and use this to measure the amount of friction on different surfaces. They discuss the advantages and disadvantages of friction, also investigating water resistance and making parachutes to demonstrate their understanding of air resistance.
