INVITATION It gives me great pleasure to invite you to attend a workshop entitled, Developing Skills for the Interpretation of 1D and 2D NMR Spectral Data for the Structure Determination of Organic Molecules to be held at the Latif Ebrahim Jamal National Science Information Center, Karachi (on-line) under the VEPP (Virtual Education Project Pakistan), during April 25th 26 , 2012. This two days workshop will introduce young researchers/students/ faculty members with the art of interpreting the NMR data.

This workshop is aimed to: 1. To learn the basic principles of modern NMR spectroscopy. 2. To interpret the 1D and 2D NMR spectra in order to elucidate the structure of unknown or known chemical entities. 3. To carry out the stereochemical assignments by NMR spectroscopy. The workshop will be relayed nationwide in various Universities and other HEIs through VEPP (Virtual Education Project Pakistan). Every one eligible is welcomed to register, attend, and benefit from this important and innovative event. WORKSHOP CONTENTS The program includes: 1. Brief introduction of principles of NMR spectroscopy 2. Introduction of one-dimensional NMR techniques 3. Introduction of two-dimensional NMR techniques 4. Strategy to elucidate structures of organic molecules by various spectroscopic techniques 5. Interpretation of NMR spectral data for structures elucidation 6. AIM OF THE WORKSHOP This workshop is designed for MS/Ph.D. students. The learning objective of this workshop is to familiarize students with the basic principles of NMR spectroscopy and to develop skills to interpret the 1D and 2D NMR spectra in order to elucidate the structures of unknown or known chemical entities. Students in this course will also learn the application of the NMR spectroscopy for stereochemical assignments.

The workshop will consist of lectures of Prof. Dr. M. Iqbal Choudahry, H.I., S.I., T.I., followed by exercises, tutorials and discussion sessions.
