IMPORTANT: Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product and included here and in the Blue Coat ProxySG 400 Series Installation Guide. The Installation Guide and other documentation can be found at: www.bluecoat.com.

Mount the ProxySG on a Shelf

If you plan to put the ProxySG on a shelf or similar surface rather than mounting it into an equipment rack, attach the four skid-proof rubber pads to the bottom of the appliance. If you plan to mount the ProxySG in an equipment rack, refer to the Blue Coat ProxySG 400 Series Installation Guide for instructions.

Carefully turn the ProxySG upside down to access the bottom of the unit. Peel the adhesive backing from one of the rubber pads and affix it to one of the corners at the bottom of the ProxySG; repeat for the other three rubber pads.

Carefully turn the ProxySG right-side up.

Attach the Cable Supports

Two cable supports are included with the ProxySG: The cable management support routes network serial cables to avoid tangling. The power cord retainer prevents the ProxySG power cord from being pulled out accidentally. Fasten the two cable supports to the back of the ProxySG.

Position the cable management support at the back of the ProxySG on the right; secure it with a flathead screw at the side of the ProxySG.

After you have plugged the power cord into the rear of the ProxySG, power on the ProxySG by plugging the other end of the power cord into a power receptacle. Verify that the ProxySG has powered on successfully: The Power LED lights up and the LCD becomes green and displays the name Blue Coat. After a moment, the Disk Drive LED and one or both of the Adapter Port LEDs light up as appropriate. The Option Card LED will not light up unless you have installed and linked a network adapter card or pass-through card (see the Blue Coat ProxySG 400 Series Installation Guide for more information about option cards). The LCD displays IP address not configured.

parameter. Selecting Yes to secure the serial port means that you will be challenged for the administrative username/password when accessing the serial console and will be challenged for the setup password when accessing the setup console. To restrict access to the front panel, configure the front panel PIN from the CLI after initial setup is complete. 10 Press the Enter button to enter Edit mode (if necessary) and follow Steps 3 and 4 to secure the serial port. 11 Press the Menu button to return to Status mode. Initial network configuration is now complete. The LCD cycles between CPU utilization and proxied traffic statistics.
