3. The 5S program: Concept, Source and Reasoning. 3.1 Concept The 5S program is a set of five simple concepts that are able to change your mood, your workplace, how to conduct their daily activities and their attitudes. The term 5S is derived from five Japanese words all starting with the letter S (Seiri, Seiso, Seiton, Seiketsu and that begin with theletter Shitsuke). S and In the interpretation meaning of of characters the original that representthese words from Japanese to English, we managed to find words had an approximate Japanese (Sorting, Systematyzing, Sweeping, Sanitizing and Self-disciplining).

3.2 Source 5S activities began in Japan after the 2nd World War to combat the filth factory, was formally launched in Brazil in 1991 by Christiano Ottoni Foundation. At the beginning were discussed only the first three "S" and later the fourth and fifth. Currently, four other concepts were added, as indicated below, although the name of the method remains the same.

3.2 The meaning of each S 3.2.1 1st S: Reasoning of utilization It is to identify materials, equipment, tools, appliances, necessary and unnecessary information, not using it is unnecessary for the implementation of activities. Note that "keep" is natural instinct of the people. Therefore, the sense of Use assumes that in addition to identifying the excesses and / or waste, we are also concerned to identify "why over" so that preventive measures can be taken to prevent the accumulation of excesses from recurring. The benefits of using this reasoning are the fight against waste, reducing costs, saving resources, recycling materials, more pleasant environment, greater ease of organizing and finding objects, considerable time savings.

3.2.2 2nd S: Reasoning of Ordination It is define appropriates places and criteria to stock, store or dispose of materials, equipment, tools, appliances, information and data to facilitate its use and handling, facilitate the search, location and custody of any item. Popularly means "everything in its place." In determining the appropriate places, it is adopted as a criterion the facility for storage, identification, handling, recovery and return to original location after use, consumption of the older items first, among others. The benefits of using this reasoning are time savings, facility of finding what you need, reducing rework, improved preservation of its assets, rapid movement of people and materials, improved inventory control, reduced conflict and stress unsuccessful searches, and more comfort and better working environment.
