Project Title: "iRead and iMath" with iPads Grant Application

Brief Summary- "iRead and iMath" with iPads will benefit each classroom of students at Euchee Creek Elementary which is comprised of a diverse group of students with a variety of learning styles, experiences, and abilities. The classroom must allow for the individual construction of learning in many ways. This can be achieved through the integration of iPad technology in the classrooms. The implementation of iPads in the classroom will support a positive learning environment as teachers facilitate learning as their students are actively involved trying out new ideas scaffolding knowledge and skills. With the integration of the iPad technology in our classrooms, we will be able to achieve our three specific measurable goals: benchmark test scores increase by 25%, standardized test scores increase by 20%, and mastering the state and national standards with a 10% increase. To evaluate effectiveness of differentiated instruction in student learning and achievement, the professional learning communities will compare and examine the benchmark test scores, standardized test scores, and mastery of the state and national standards.

Detailed Summary- While preparing our students to become lifelong learners, the teachers at Euchee Creek Elementary understand that change is often necessary in order to produce greater success for the students. To increase the opportunities for all students to succeed, teachers will plan differentiated instruction with authentic learning activities that provide each student with the facilitation of understanding and application of knowledge while being engaged and responsive. For authentic learning and student success, Euchee Creek Elementary must provide differentiation for each individual student. This can be accomplished through the implementation of technology in the classroom with the use of iPads. Incorporating technology will make a measurable difference in student success, academics, and communications with teachers and peers. The implementation of technology will be a motivator for learning new concepts and a stimulator for higher order thinking skills for all the different types of learners. Success of "iRead and iMath with iPads" will be measured through our three specific measurable goals: benchmark test scores increase by 25%, standardized test scores increase by 20%, and mastering the state and national standards with a 10% increase for each grade level Kindergarten through Fifth grade. Teachers will use various strategies to gather data on each students progress: reflecting on student observations, student reflections and journal writings, students' progresses, and gains between pre and post tests. Rubrics will be used to measure the application of knowledge of individual students through their participation in constructive grouping and creation of projects. The professional learning communities will use formative assessments to collaborate the analysis of students' work and progress. Final assessments through students' performances will be used to create the next unit of study with the integration of the iPad.

Intended Outcomes- Through the professional learning community of the Pre-K-Fifth grade teachers, our goal is to refine and extend the reading and math curriculum by way of the integration of technology, emphasizing learning goals and strategies, through differentiated instruction. Strategies, to facilitate the students increasing their reading and math benchmark test scores, standardized test scores, and mastering the state and national standards. Our plan supports the school mission to be committed to providing education to all students in a safe, nurturing environment. Through personalized education and support, the students will become confident, productive citizens. We will collaborate to create an effective reading and math program, "iRead and iMath" with iPads." Through the established shared vision that all students can learn and apply reading and mathematical concepts, our program integrates the use of technology through iPads stimulating and supporting students through the program "iRead and iMath" with iPads. The success of this program will be students' growth in their skills and abilities to apply their understanding of reading and mathematical concepts as measured through test scores with a twenty percent increase in math test scores. The students will participate in constructive problem solving activities, using the technology iPads to present and explain their solutions. Working individually and in groups, the students will interact with the technology using educational software applications and Internet sites. The physical stimuli provided by the integration of technology will enhance learning as the students experience positive social interactions using their senses and emotions to guide them to find multiple ways to solve problems.

Purpose and Objectives- Through "iRead and iMath" with iPads, the students at Euchee Creek Elementary School will have greater motivation to achieve success as they experience authentic learning experiences that are of interest. Providing each students with multiple options to acquire and understand information and ideas, which will be provided through the integration of iPads in the classroom, will generate greater success for each student as they apply and express their knowledge and skills increasing the students' benchmark testing scores, standardized test scores, and mastery of state and national standards. By refining and extending both the reading and math curriculum through the integration of iPad technology and emphasizing learning goals and strategies, the students will increase their reading and math test scores. Student understanding and learning is stimulated through engaging and interesting projects that apply to the students' daily lives. This will be accomplished through the integration of technology provided through the iPads. The interaction with the technology provides the students with physical stimuli that enhances learning. To facilitate the understanding of concepts and skills, the lessons build upon activation, teaching, and summarizing strategies, with extending and refining activities to meet individual students' needs. The environment has a great impact on learning. In order to provide an optimum learning environment, teachers must plan learning experiences that actively engage students in learning, provide for individual construction of meaning in a variety of ways, and promote the freedom to take risks. As the students interact with the learning environment, they

need to feel comfortable with themselves and others around them. This will be achieved through the integration of the iPads.
