INTRODUCTION 1.1 Brief History Askari Commercial Bank Ltd. (ACBL) was Incorporated in Pakistan on October 09,1991,ACBL commenced its operations in April 1992, as a public limited company, and hassince expanded into a nation-wide presence of more than 50 branches, handled by theh u m a n c a p i t a l o f m o r e t h a n 1 6 0 0 e m p l o ye e s a n d h a s l o w e s t t u r n o v e r i n P a k i s t a n i Banking Sector.The Bank is listed on the Karachi, Lahore & Islamabad stock exchanges and the initial public offering was over subscribed by 16 times.A C B L i s p r i n c i p a l l y e n g a g e d i n t h e b u s i n e s s o f b a n k i n g a s d e f i n e d i n t h e B a n k i n g Companies Ordinance, 1962.As at December 31, 2002, the Bank had total assets of PKR 70.313 billion, with over 250,000 banking customers.ACBL has a Correspondent Bank Network in more than 95 countries with about 167 banks.
