It is with great enthusiasm that I apply for the position of Graduate Engineer with Engineering Excellence as advertised on the Seek website on 20 March 2011. Last week, I attended the Swinburne Employer Fair and was greatly impressed with the information provided to me by Mr. Paul White from Engineering Excellence. I was very much inspired by the fact that: you are one of Asia Pacific's largest and most experienced consulting firms; you work on world class projects and offer fantastic advancement opportunities for graduate engineers. It is my career goal to contribute my knowledge and technical skills to the industrial management service of a multidisciplinary engineering organisation such as Engineering Excellence, which strives to be the most successful provider of engineering and technology based solutions. I am aiming to graduate in November 2011 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering) from Swinburne University of Technology. I have demonstrated my self-motivation and goal focus through having achieved a distinction average. I have gained engineering industry insight through having completed my Professional Experience in Engineering Unit working with AEP Corporation in the area of power plant water treatment system design. I was assigned to prepare project schedules, process planning, equipment lists and costing for the project and have received positive feedback on my performance. I enjoyed the project management and teamwork experience and demonstrated my initiative and my innovative thinking by designing a more practical version of the project schedule which effectively improved communication among the project engineers. In addition to my industrial experience, I have been working part time to partially support myself while equipping myself with customer service and self-management skills. I possess excellent communication skills demonstrated through my Sales Assistant and Wait Staff work experiences where I have served a multitude of people from a range of backgrounds and with different needs. Holding supervisory level positions in clubs and societies, such as the President of Martial Arts Uniform Body and the Assistant Manager of the Student Welfare Committee, I have developed strong leadership and problem solving skills. It is my hope that my experiences, together with my strong work ethic, provide the foundation on which I hope to build my career with Engineering Excellence.
