Introduction Brothers and sisters, this Fourth Sunday of Easter is also called Good Shepherd Sunday.

Even if we have never met an actual shepherd, we have images of gentleness, strength, confidence, self-sacrifice, hard work, peace. These images of what we want to be as parents or grandparents; friends or colleagues; even as a pastor. Let us pray today to be followers of the true Shepherd and imitators of him.

render them your followers and ministers to us

Registration for the CCD Program K 9 (5-14 yrs) May is Registration Month for the Kindergarten CCD Program. Children who will be 5 years old by December 31, 2012, and not attending MSA, should enroll in the parish catechetical program which begins September 2012. Application forms are now available in the Sacristy, the Rectory Office (236-9866), and from Mrs. Maria Pacheco, the Parish Catechetical Coordinator. All Kindergarten applications must include a Baptism certificate and the Registration fee. Students who have recently arrived on the Island and are entering the program for the first time should also complete the application form and enclose the fees and any records or information regarding past religious education. It is essential that you complete the entire registration form for each child. CCD fees are $135 per student per year with cheques made payable to St. Patricks Church. As in other areas of the Churchs pastoral ministry, a familys inability to pay does not prevent that family from receiving the Churchs service. Families in financial need should make an appointment with Fr. Paul to discuss an appeal for assistance or special consideration. Returning CCD Students CCD students presently registered in the program need to complete the form enclosed with the family invoice that was sent home with your child this weekend. Return the completed form with payment by the June 2 deadline to either the Rectory, Mrs. Pacheco, or Class Catechist. Students not returning to the program due to placement at Mount Saint Agnes Academy or who are leaving the Island should still complete the form and return it

Weekly Stewardship Thought If we give ourselves to God and let Him use our talents to serve others, we will be amazed by the results. Not only will our lives be changed but so will the lives of others. Reflection Question Am I willing to allow Jesus to be my Shepherd, my cornerstone and my Jesus nut? How can I deepen my life with Jesus and be more faithful to Him? Do I truly hear His voice and respond? World Day of Prayer for VocationsApril 29 Pope Paul VI instituted the World Day of Prayer for Vocations (the 4th Sunday of Easter) on April 11, 1964, by saying; O Jesus, divine Shepherd of the spirit,
you have called the Apostles in order to make them fishermen of men, you still attract to you burning spirits and generous young people, in order to

More than 22,000 Baptisms in China on Easter Sunday Vatican City, 24 April 2012 (VIS) - The Catholic news agency Fides has reported that 22,104 people were baptized in China on Easter Sunday. The statistics were collected by the Study Centre of Faith in the Chinese province of He Bei. The newly-baptized Catholics, seventy-five percent of whom are adults, belong to 101 dioceses. In He Bei itself 4,410 people were baptized on Easter Day, 615 more than last year, while in Hong Kong, which has more than 360,000 faithful, there were 3,500 baptisms. It should be noted that some dioceses do not celebrate all their baptisms at Easter. For example, in Shang Hai there were 379 Easter baptisms but the total figure could exceed 1,500 by the end of the year. According to Sister Li Guo Shuang of the Study Center, "there are still some dioceses or communities which, due to communication difficulties, have not yet reported data to us. So we must emphasise that the figures are not complete, they may still increase".

Catholic Questions & Answers

What is the difference between secular priests and religious priests?

Answer Secularor better, diocesanpriests are priests who are ordained for a particular diocese and who serve ordinarily in parishes. This is their main work, although some are engaged in other ministries as well. At their ordination as deacons they incardinate (affiliate) with a particular diocese or archdiocese. At this time they make a promise to obey their bishop and, in the Western Church, to remain celibate. Religious priests are not necessarily more spiritual than diocesan priests. The word refers in this case to the form of life these priests live. All men and women who make public vows in a religious order are called religious. It means that by their vows of poverty, celibate chastity, and obedience, their lives are oriented in a special way to the virtue of religion so that all they do becomes a continual act of the worship of God. This is true of all religious, sisters and brothers as well as priests. Ordinarily they live and pray in community. Many

of them wear a religious habit. Often they are engaged in a specialized form of ministry.
