Executive Summary This project is intended to analyze where I am at in my career path. It will cover topics such as my achievements, my goals, and my current professional Identity. It should also point out my strengths and weaknesses along with my progress towards my desired career. I hope to build up what my employers will be looking at in the near future. Basically, all of my current web Identities will be evaluated. I will also add some new ones like a Linkedin account and a video resume for example. Next I will go through specific requirements for my field of choice. This will include researching job postings, applications and current professionals. Lastly I will go over what I am happy with and what I think I can improve on. By looking at the criteria for my career I will be able to better equip my online identity. I will also include my opinion on my current professional web presence.

The Future Professional Me & Job Advertisements I am currently enrolled in the Statistics program at ASU. I have not always dreamed of being a statistician. But I have always loved math. There have been mathematicians, engineers, accountants and financial analysts in my family so I would say it is in my blood. When I got out of high-school I decided to go for a business degree. I really had no Idea of what I wanted to do. While earning my associates in general business at Chandler-Gilbert Community college I started a small company with some friends. That experience drew me away from wanting a career in business. It made me want a job that is more defined and secure, at least to start. I hope to own my own business one day however I feel like I will be able to get more ideas by getting a closer look into a specific field. This is the time when I decided to go for math. So I transferred to ASU and started taking courses. In my statistics classes I noticed everyone grimacing over the work. Class after class I saw this. This got me thinking about the demand for statistics majors. Not long after this I landed an internship at PING the golf company. This was a great experience for me after helping benchmark some statistic techniques I got hooked. Statistics are involved in almost anything from sports to the government. I have not yet decided what I am going to specialize in but I hope to one day be involved in sports. Most of the best fields require a masters or Ph.D. so for this project I am going to analyze what I could do with a bachelors degree in Statistics. Qualifications for an Actuary

The Curent Me After looking over my online Identity I would say that it is pretty poor. I have some old accounts such as Myspace that I have not accessed in years. I also do not have a Facebook so that doesnt help. This project has made me want to start building up on my online identity. I have a hard time believing that a company will base its entire opinion off of what they see online however it will most likely be the first thing they look at. I would definitely want there to be a good first impression of me. It does take effort into achieving the best image of yourself online. I have numerous other places that come up in a search of my name such as Arizona Corporation Commission, high-school, and the various accounts I used in this class. They just dont really say much about me though. So overall I am not very satisfied with my online identity.

Analysis My progress towards my career is much brighter than my online identity. I will be complete with the education required in a year or so. There are Society of Actuaries exams that I am going to start studying for. I have also interned at a golf company and worked in the engineering, quality assurance, and analysis and testing departments. I gained a lot of on the job experience through these. I was able to get my hands on a little bit of everything. I helped benchmark a few different tests. One was testing strengths of appliques that they attach to putters. I helped sort out a huge shipment problem. But the biggest accomplishment for my degree was conditionally formatting a Gauge R&R worksheet. This test is used to see where error of the clubs is coming from. When a shipment of clubs comes in, according to an AQL sampling plan, a specific size sample is pulled out and checked according to size of the shipment. When the Gauge R&R is performed, the results will tell where the error in all of the testing procedures comes from whether it is due to the operator, equipment, or the club itself. Beyond my experience at Ping, I have also picked up a lot of knowledge for the programs I could potentially use. These Programs include office, R, Maple, and Matlab. I also have some brief knowledge of programing with java and html.

Bridging the Gap/Conclusion After looking into all the areas of this project I have two new goals. First is my online Identity. This will make the transition into a career after college much easier. If I start networking and building up my appearance I will definitely be better off. I also have observed the benefit of Facebook. I dont like spending a lot of time on the computer outside of school and work. But this project gave me a better reason to start an account. The second goal is to look in to the actuary exams. All job postings that I looked at required at least one. Some required 3 exams. I can see the direct relationship between these exams and salary. Plus what better way to prepare myself then by getting a head start. With my new Linkedin account I have been looking for internships. I am excited to see what I can qualify for and get into. All thanks to this project. I feel a lot more focused and on track for my career. I think I got comfortable with being on track academically so I never thought of all the other aspects of preparing for a professional career.
